Why unsweetened almond milk as opposed to regular milk? Is it allergy, taste, nutrition? I've never tried it and was wondering.....Many Thanks!

Okay you fabulous & 50 sleevers, had a quick question...is there anything different for VSG patients 50 and over (for instance is the weight loss slower?) Anything I should know? I'm hitting 50 in a few short months, and was just wondering if there's anything age related that's not being discussed on other boards....Many thanks! On a side note, my NUT has seen permanent weight loss success more often with patients in our age bracket than patients in their 20's...thinks its a maturity thing (this is her personal experience only)....that's encouraging! I don't have a surgery date yet, but after talking with the surgeon's office, and if approved, I may be looking at a mid August date for surgery. Many thanks!

I was going insane with doubts about what I was doing to my body....after going through my list of pros/cons with my hubby of having the surgery vs. not, and he kindly grilling my decision, I had my answer....I still have the what ifs going through my mind, but I think that's healthy and normal....Good luck!

Welcome! Good luck on this journey! Not to worry, just follow the dr's directions...it's interesting how everything varies by doctor.....from tests to pre-op diet. Good luck.

I just saw your note.....I am missing 1/2 my meniscus in my knees and have arthritis...and found Water fit classes at the gym--they work very well for me....if this is an option, you may want to try it...HTH!

The book is called "The BIG Book on the GASTRIC SLEEVE" by Alex Brecher (there is a link on here....it's available at amazon in a download or hard copy (I'd recommend the download if you have a reader as the book is huge and a bit conspicuous LOL.....I'm rather private about the sleeve) Good luck to you all and again, welcome! Thank you all! Good luck...I hope those 5 months will go by quickly for you both! Just heard back from the surgeon's office....if it's approved, I'm looking at surgery in 5-6 weeks....wow!

I just finished up my last appointment (hopefully).....thought the time would drag......but ti didn't.....I was obsessed with learning everything I could. I bought the big book on the sleeve (advertised on this site).....it's a great reference tool. Welcome, and best wishes on this journey!

I haven't had to pay for submission to the insurance (it may be legit, but you should ask your insurance provider about that. It could be a no no---years ago a new doctor attempted to pull a fast one separating me from my $--I called the insurance co, and they told me his request was illegal, and after they dealt with him, he called us with a "my bad?" kind of attitude....Luckily he wasn't my surgeon......and I told him where he could go--mama didn't raise no fool LOL). Good for you.....other than DH & one sibling who had WLS, I haven't told anyone else, didn't plan on telling anyone else.....and I'm starting to question this decision.....I know my sister will be very, very hurt if I don't tell her.......but she's a security risk LOL

I had to do some retail therapy tonight on my way home from my last appointment LOL I got home and told hubby---it's a little overwhelming that all my work is done, and this is happening......well, I'm a glass half full kind of gal.....so I'm sure it will be approved....perhaps delayed, but approved none the less LOL Good luck!

Phew, finished my last NUT appointment.....and now the waiting begins.....My biggest concern about the approval process is that the ins. co. changed their requirements sometime after I started this journey, but, that's beyond my or my surgeon's control, so I'm ready.........I'm soooooo ready! Keep your fingers crossed. Thank you for putting up with my questions/concerns during the last 2.5 months.....you all have been a godsend, sharing your knowledge and experience.....thank you!

Welcome ShellBell! I don't have Oxford, but wanted to welcome you! You may want to try using the search forums for "connecticut".....I remember a thread for us nutmeggers. You and I are in the same boat....today's my last NUT appointment before it gets sent off to Cigna.....If you haven't already, you might want to ask your surgeon's office what turnaround they are seeing with Oxford.......My surgeon told me they are typically seeing a 10 day turnaround for Cigna. Who's your surgeon? Mine is Dr. C. Floch out of Fairfield/Norwalk..............Welcome, and best wishes!!!
