  1. Love C.S.Lewis........thanks for sharing!
  2. Welcome back, and congratulations............and thank you for sharing that analogy, I like it! I figured whatever exercise I could do now would only help me when I have the surgery.
  3. I'm in the pre-approval stage, and I know how you feel about the see-saw of emotions...........I was driving my husband nuts last month.......so I've stopped sharing them with him LOL I haven't shared what I'm doing with people....not sure if I will......My husband wasn't particularly thrilled when we discussed WLS, but after meeeting with the surgeon at the initial meeting, he's been supportive.
  4. My numbers are high due to a fatty liver.....my radiologist thought it was due to drinking......sorry big guy, I haven't had a drink since Jan. 2012 LOL
  5. Welcome Janie & ALex! I'm in the pre-approval phase also....have to do the 3 month visits with the Nut......first appointment is today.
  6. Welcome.....I'm in the pre-approval phase as well, but not as far as you are.....good luck!
  7. Wow, that's wondeful that the doctor did the diet himself to know what his patients go through. I was told the same thing about the liver.
  8. You'll do fine.....had mine on Monday.....I still have the 3 months nutritionist appointments to complete....first meeting is tomorrow.
  9. Good luck, I had my eval on Monday.......the woman was wonderful, specializes in pre/post WLS support..........we talked for an hour.....she was lovely, funny, down to earth, and honest....no matter what, be honest with her and your surgeon......because you'll only hurt yourself. We lost our teenager a few years ago, so she touched on that by asking "and how are you doing with that?" I had been a nervous wreck about this appointment...........we went on vacation and came home the day before the appointment.........which was good for me, because I was too distracted having fun to think about it LOL Good luck, you'll do fine.
  10. I'm still in the pre-approval phase.....and there were days I flip flopped about the VSG........and days where I was feeling quite anxious about it.........but after meeting with the surgeon and mental health professional, I'm feeling better about it..... The LSW strongly suggested attending support groups for WLS patients.........before you have the surgery......I may do that.
  11. We're in CT, but Dad grew up in NJ, and has friends on the shore who lost everything, After Hurricane Sandy hit, my father became a fan of Christie......I'm glad he's doing something for his health.
  12. I met with the surgeon....a little surprised at the amount of appointments/tests we have to get done......but it all makes sense......the appointment went well He says I shouldn't have any problems getting it approved as my BMI is above 40. And I was wondering....... Are there folks who have bariatric surgery as a covered procedure, with a BMI over 40, where the insurance denied the procedure? Many thanks!
  13. Thanks for posting this, I have Cigna, too........I went to the surgeons' informational session last week and meeting with the surgeon on Friday.......and nervous........ How long did it take from that first meeting with your doctor to submitting paperwork? Many thanks!
  14. glad to hear others from the area (from Guilford here) Just starting this process, will meet with Dr. Floch next week.
  15. Thanks.....was hoping it was Cigna
  16. I just began this process, will meet with Dr. Floch next week.....but he operates out of St. Vincents and Norwalk Hospitals. Good luck!
  17. Hi all, I just joined and saw this thread, so thought I'd pop in and say howdy......I'm from CT and have my initial appointment next week.........nervous about this whole process.....
  18. Hi all! I'm new to the forum and am considering VSG.....I have thought about surgery for years, but have been afraid---surgery scares the heck out of me, but the future seems rather bleak if I don't get this weight off...........the big 5-0 is coming up soon, and it's unsettling.......with health concerns, I don't see getting to a healthy weight happening w/o surgery. I had a sister and a friend who had the bypass a number of years ago, and that just isn't for me. A friend had lapband, and I would prefer not to deal with the adjustments for maintenance. I went to the informational session last night, and meet with the surgeon next week. The procedure is covered 100% and need to go through a 3 month period before the surgery to meet with NUT & Psy.....will find out next week what hoops I have to jump through...........I know one will be my PCP.......I'm not sure if he will be supportive..... Thankfully, my husband of 29 years is onboard with this. Has anyone had Cigna, and were they good to deal with for this process? Thanks for all the helpful info posted on the forum.
  19. CLS, what Ins. company do you have? (if you don't mind my asking)......I'm super new, and will post in a minute where I'm at in a different thread....Congrats!
