Hi All,

I've been silently checking out this forum for some time but waited until today to post. I am still in the Pre-approval phase - I've met with my surgeon, completed the lab work and H. Pylori, the psych evaluation etc... All the paperwork from my primary care doc and special requirements from my employer's bariatric resource program have been completed as well. Just need one more meeting with the nutritionist before they submit all of my paperwork to insurance (and also completing a sleep study next week as part of my Pre-op clearances). Nervous but excited at the same time - actually nervous to become excited if that makes any sense, lol - won't feel at ease until I make it through the insurance approval process!

I've been overweight my whole life and went through some really difficult years because of deaths of multiple loved ones and dealing with my ex-husband's drug addiction issues - needless to say I'm happier than I've ever been in my life now and the only thing I would change is my weight. Tired of the lifelong battle with food and self-hate etc... Looking forward to starting a new chapter where I can feel physically the way I feel emotionally :) and be a better mom and wife because of it. I know it's going to be a long road and am as ready as I think I'll ever be for the challenges WLS will present - but also excited about the opportunity to improve my health and overall well-being.

Good luck to all of the others in the Pre-op phase and continued success to those of you already in the post-op phase. I look forward to interacting with you all :)

Welcome! You are already well on your way! I've been overweight my whole life too. I hope the rest of your pre-approval process goes smoothly. I was sleeved on 2/28/13 so I'm just a couple of months post-op. it boggles my mind sometimes that I actually had the surgery cuz I'm such a chicken about any kind of surgery. But I felt so strongly that this was the right thing for me to do. I want to be freed from my excess weight and it's happening! I kinda freaks me out! LOL! Best of luck to you!

pre-surgery weight 325; surgery date 2/28/2013; surgery weight 307; 8 weeks past-op weight 281.4

Thanks!! Congrats on your weight loss so far :) I hear you on just wanting to be free from the excess weight - it seems to always be a factor for me no matter what other positives there are in my life - it just always brings me down - tired of it and ready to take control :)

I have to meet with the NUT 2 more times, have the endoscopy done (meeting with those folks next week) and have my physician fill out the paperwork (last month he said he would support me with WLS, so I just have to give it to him)....so I'm getting there....Good luck to you too!

Thanks! Where are you in the process? Good luck on your journey :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
