I had my surgery with dr. Kelly on 9/9/2013. And it went GREAT. Not one single complication or side effect. The whole experience was wonderful. He is a very skilled surgeon with tons of experience with this surgery. I have nothing but good things to say about him. You will be in great hands! Pm me anytime if you have questions

I had my surgery 3 days ago at Nova hospital with Dr. Kelly. I cannot say enough good things about both the Dr. and the hospital. Dr. Kelly is a very wonderful, smart, skilled surgeon whom I truly admire. He's been to see me numerous times already and I expect to see him one last time before I leave. He also spent time with my mother to reassure her and that meant the world to the both of us. When I arrived at the hospital, I was disappointed as it looked shabby. But the inside was immaculately clean and organized and very well run. All of the nurses were wonderful and attentive. Some spoke broken English and others none at all but that was never an issue. They would be in to check bp and IV fluids very regularly, to change the bed linens or to just to see how I was feeling. Very impressed with the whole experience.
I had A LOT of gas immediately after the procedure, which was terrible to say the least. So there was a ton of buyers remorse along with that. I also had nausea and did vomit twice. That may have come from the pain meds, not too sure, but it sucked. The next night was SO MUCH BETTER , I slept the whole night and i felt like a new person. Now I have minor gas pains and a couple of weepy moments thinking of the long road ahead. But I'm sure that once I start seeing results and am able to eat mushies, it will all be worth it. Looking very forward to that!
Just thought I'd share my story because I know how much I enjoyed reading everyone else's while still in the pre op stage

Congratulations on your great experience! I too had a lot of terrible gas pain for a few days, but it went away and I feel normal now. It will get better and better as you go along. I am 5 weeks out now and don't even feel like I had surgery at all. Good luck on your journey!

Hang in there!! I promise there is a life after liquids and newly post op! If I were you I would start gathering recipes off of the forum and there are some good ones on fb also. This will help you during this time to get ready for your next stage which is real food! It's tough when you are first sleeved and always tired and struggling to get all your liquids and Proteins in. However this will pass and you will start a whole new life of healthy eating that will transform your body and outlook on life. I promise! Best thing after the restraunt......My daughter (age 22)and I went to the ocean for a little while and a guy walks buy in just a towel, waves at us, my daughter says "do you think he is naked?"
my reply "I do believe he is!" He waves and walks past us and keeps looking back to see if we are still there and I looked at my daughter and said I bet he drops that towel. Just about that time the towel drops and he is one with nature!! We busted out laughing and he just kept on walking down the beach! Thought that would make you smile! True story!!

I was sleeved at 2 yesterday and I went in at 1015. The nurse tried to put my iv line in 3 different times and couldn't get it so then she went to get a different nurse and while that took a long time I had a lot of time to think that wasn't boosting my confidence in my decision if they can't eve get the iv line in. What if I am making a mistake ?
So I started crying because I'm a cryer and then a male nurse came and got it on the first try. That was probably around 1145 then I was scheduled to be sleeved at 1215 and it was 115 and so I went to ask questions and the nurse was like "yeah sometimes the doctor goes over just like any dr appointment and you want them to take their time" kind of snotty like. I told them I was just wondering because no one told me anything. Then they came in and wheeled me to the or.
That's the last thing I remember before waking up and questioning to myself why in gods name did I do this to myself. I asked my boyfriend why he didn't talk me out of it because the gas pain was so horrible and I wanted to cry. I read on here from a lot of people that the first day is tough and you really second guess yourself.
    No complications.
Here I am September 10th and I still think I'm crazy for choosing this but as so many people say its worth it in the end and they would do it again in a heart beat so I'm just looking forward to being on that side of it. . Hurray.
