  1. Sending you healing thoughts! Everyone's experience is different. My drain removal wasn't painful, just weird feeling. The most painful part for me was the gas pain in my shoulders on Day 2. I hope you heal quickly!
  2. It is very common for sleevers to get acid reflux, and that is why most docs go ahead and put us on a PPI like Nexium or Prevacid starting the day after surgery. Tell your doc about it, but if it's bothering you today, go ahead and get an OTC PPI like Prevacid and take it.
  3. Don't you mean 60 grams of protein???
  4. Happy belated Birthday!!! Your 30's are going to rock big time with a healthier body
  5. Well, it's hard to tell you what to change, when we don't know what you are doing. Are you tracking every bite and beverage to make sure you are staying within your calorie range your doc told you to be in, and staying low carb? Are you working out atleast 4 times a week? If so, change up your workout routine. If you usually walk, do the eliptical. If you usually do spin class, do something like zumba instead. As for Water, it's very important...so put something in it and see if that help. Cucumber slices or crystal light, or even just a splash of cranberry juice. Sometimes that really helps to keep you from feeling nauseous. Good luck!!
  6. Most docs want you at 600 - 800 for the whole day. So yeah, 500 calories for breakfast/brunch is a bit much. Cut the recipe in half and it will be perfect.
  7. That is excellent time for your first 5k!! Congrats to you!! And 98 lbs?! That is fan-freakin'-tastic!!! Great job on changing your lifestyle!! (time to update that ticker...ha!)
  8. Heck yeah... I even had an "easy" preop diet (low carb, low fat). Just keep trying! And how you do on the pre-op diet is no indicator of how you'll do post-op. It's a whole different ball game
  9. Embrace the fact that you've had this surgery, and make the most of it. You can buy new boobs (start saving now!), and can get a great butt from hiking up mountains, doing squats, or other toning exercises. I just looked through your gallery to check out these amazing curves presurgery...and the biggest curve was still your mid section... just like mine..ha! Those "curves" weren't hiding your weight...sorry. The first month sucks...everyone knows it. It will get better, and you will be able to exercise easier with some weight off of you. Don't stay in this funk. What's done is done, now make the most of it and start walking down the road of health AND hotness (even if it's just hotness when clothed).
  10. I self paid... if your insurance won't cover it, and you believe it will be a good tool for you, then go ahead and self pay.
  11. Ketosis is when your body has switched to converting fat to fuel instead of using it's glycogen stores. It's when you are "low carbing" or not eating enough calorie wise to support your body's energy needs. Soooo...the answer is...you'll have the bad breath as long as you are burning fat for fuel
  12. Good luck to you! I hope everything goes smoothly
  13. I bought this one last year, and love it: http://www.soletreadmills.com/treadmills/f63-treadmill-2013
  14. B-12? My doc mentioned to me if I feel fine, and then start feeling fatigue, to make sure I'm taking my sublingual B-12 because without it, I can feel tired and become anemic... just a thought. Hope you feel better soon!!
  15. Hey there Angel, Did you know you are more likely to die in a car crash than during surgery? I do encourage you to do research on the doctors in your area and talk to some of their former patients... don't up your chances of complications by going with a doc that doesn't have good reviews. You possibly could lose the weight on your own... I certainly tried for 6 years, and lost a good chunk. But if I would have had the sleeve to begin with, I would have been to goal for a long time already. Plus, what is the likelihood of you keeping the weight off, even if you did lose it? Do you have a good track record of dieting and gaining it back plus some like a lot of us? The sleeve will not only help you lose the weight, but keep you from over eating once you are at goal. It's your decision... but don't let the fear of surgery keep you from being sleeved. And there are 100's of people on this site who didn't die from the surgery...so take our numbers to your relatives/friends
  16. You can still use non-solid foods too. The premade protein shakes don't have to be refrigerated so they are great for the road. You can also buy those chicken or tuna kits (with the mayo/relish), and eat those without the crackers included.
  17. Are you taking a B-12 suppliment? My doc warned me if I felt good and all the sudden started feeling weak, it could be a B-12 deficiency...(that's assuming I'm eating and drinking normally).
  18. This is great! Here's mine: 1. Sit in my husband's lap without feeling like I'm crushin' him (he's 140lbs) 2. Me on top sex without crushing my husband. 3. Victoria Secret purchases 4. Shopping at any store in the "normal sizes" section 5. Being able to backpack a whole week without feeling like I'm gonna die. 6. Run a half marathon (looking at one this December...the Santa Hustle) 7. Being able to do full pushups and planks without feeling like my back is going to break 8. Sky diving (here in East TN) & Bungee jumping (In New Zealand) 9. Never worrying about riding any theme park rides... Never having the fear of "what if it doesn't latch cause I'm so big!) 10. New boobs... I've never had very large breasts even at my largest. Once I'm down to my goal weight, I'm gettin' new boobs..ha!!
  19. Hey there Seattlesportsfan! Tips: 1. Carry your heating pad. 2. I highly recommend the Italian restaurant that is on the property at the hotel for your last meal (I heard the Steakhouse is good too). 3. If you are in pain, just tell them and they will give you pain meds. 4. There are only 2 English channels on the TV, so take something like a book or a Kindle or something to keep you entertained. 5. It's HOT there... so if you walk outside, don't stay out too long. 6. Hold on, on Day 2...the pain is going to suck, but on Day 3 you'll feel much better! 7. For whoever is going with you, the restaurant in the hospital is good per my husband, and there is a mall that is only about a half mile away that has a food court. There's also a chinese restaurant right across the street. I had a fantastic experience there, and I'm sure you will too! Good luck! Feel free to message me any specific questions you have
  20. Hey guys, I was sleeved by Dr. Aceves in Mexicali and he gave me 20mg of Pantozol to take each day which is the same as Nexium per my notes/instructions. But he only gave me a 1 months supply (but instructed me to be on a PPI for atleast 3 months). I went to my PCP today for follow up and he wanted to start me on 40mg of Nexium, which is going to be $150 a month (EEK!!!). I have no idea why he wants to up me to 40mg if Dr. Aceves has me on 20mg of the Pantozol. Soooo...Which PPI are you taking? What is the Dose? Was it prescribed or over the counter? Trying to find a "cheaper" way to do this and don't want the extra dosage if not needed.
  21. Remember you need Protein first, then complex carbs next. Some meals, once you get in the 3 oz of protein (like chicken), you may not have room for anything else. Veggies need to be really well cooked...remember your stomach can't break down raw veggies for quite a while. Keep it simple...simple protein (like chicken, fish), with simple, well cooked complex carb (like say really well steamed broccoli or boiled squash). You can have a scallop...not sure why you can't.
  22. I started full liquids as well today! Had some cream of mushroom with some unflavored Protein powder mixed in...pretty darn good. Hope they get your blood pressure settled so you start feeling amazing
  23. You are allowed to use Imodium (atleast that's what my doc recommended)
  24. Well, let's see.... not only are you asking your body to just live on minimal energy, but you are asking also asking it to workout on minimal energy. Your body needs food. Yes it can use fat to "survive", but it's going it's not going to be "energetic". You have got to eat the minimal 600 - 800 calories (the top of that range if you are working out), and you have to get in the required fluids and protein. So no, it's not normal to feel weak & tired if you are following the eating guidelines.... but yes you will feel weak & tired if you are not giving your body what it needs. Also, are you taking those Vitamins including B-12?? Give your body what it needs, and it will give you the energy you need.
  25. You are already eating cottage cheese?? Gees...that's not on my eating list until 20 days out. With you only being 4 days out, I would think you'd still be on Clear liquids only...but I know every doc is different. Either way, I'm not sure that caused your fatigue. Are you getting in your fluids? Hope you feel better soon. And "dumping" would equal you being on a toilet as your body "dumps" your stomach's contents.
