I am 15 weeks post op and I barely eat anything. I get tired just walking around the grocery store and I think it's because I don't eat much. I have been going to the gym and trying to get in some exercise but I get exhausted very easily....Is this happening to anyone else?

Well, let's see.... not only are you asking your body to just live on minimal energy, but you are asking also asking it to workout on minimal energy. Your body needs food. Yes it can use fat to "survive", but it's going it's not going to be "energetic". You have got to eat the minimal 600 - 800 calories (the top of that range if you are working out), and you have to get in the required fluids and protein.

So no, it's not normal to feel weak & tired if you are following the eating guidelines.... but yes you will feel weak & tired if you are not giving your body what it needs. Also, are you taking those Vitamins including B-12??

Give your body what it needs, and it will give you the energy you need. :)

I would go see your PCP and see if he/she wants to do any bloodwork--wondering if you might have some kind of infection or virus. I had pretty close to normal energy by 8 weeks out (I am a little over 4 months post op now). About how many calories are you getting? Protein grams? Water? (dehydration can make you very tired--I aim for 70 to 100 oz of water a day and feel extremely tired if I don't get it--I feel like I need more water than I did pre-op...maybe bc I can't get in as many veggies and fruits that contain water).

I'm eating a lot (1050 calories a day) and my vitamin levels are all perfect and I'm still feeling weak and tired at three months out. I talked to my PCP and she told me to get more sleep. I told her I get 8 hours a night and she told me to get MORE... She said I'm asking a lot from my body AND I had major surgery a few short months ago, and that sleep is a good thing. She said I should not be afraid of up to 10 hours a night if I feel I need it...

I am 6 weeks post-op and cannot get many calories in. I am super tired a lot and most of the time I have to sit down. I am down to 185 5'7. How many calories should I be getting in?
