First off, this is normal at your time. Second, it's not like you can go backwards. The great thing about the sleeve is that it can't be reverse.
I'm about 2.5 years out. I can eat about half a panini slowly now, even the bread. And save the rest for later. It takes time to learn how your sleeve works, but after just a few months, you won't really notice it.
And after a couple of years like me, your new eating arrangement will seem normal, and you won't be able to understand how regular folks eat such absurd portions and meals. This way is way better, it just takes some time.
    Keep your head up!

I had surgery Wednesday afternoon, discharges Thursday morning, and went right back to caring for my 2&4 year olds. I didn't have any lifting restriction, but I avoided it as much as I could. I showed them my band aids and told them my tummy hurt and asked if they'd help me. Now everyday my 2 yr old wants to see my owies.
I guess how much help you need is really individualized.

I have 2 children, 6 and 3. Today my hubby and I took them to the zoo. We were getting ready to leave and my 3 year old son looked at me and said "You coming with us mama?", all wide-eyed and surprised. My husband is always taking the kids places and a lot of times I don't go with them. I just can't keep up with all of the walking. I end up with sore knees, ankles, back, out of breath and not enjoying myself at all. So to hear my 3 year old say that, and realize that at his young age he KNOWS when I'm not with them as a family... it broke my heart. I am scheduled for surgery 6/10 and I know it's the right thing for me. But hearing that from my son today... ugh... it just slayed me to the core. But now I know without a doubt this is the best thing for me AND my family!!

Congrats on a date!! Just a word of caution on the endoscopy.... when the doc says eat soft foods for three days, OBEY! My ex (bless his pointed lil' head...) didn't listen and ate fried chicken two days later. Well, when the numbness finally wore off, he was in major pain. But no worries! You'll be fine!

Perhaps, like my husband, yours is afraid and has a poor way of expressing how he feels. Most guys (not all) are spastic when it comes to communicating their deep loving feeling of concern. My husband ... totally failed at communicating his concern for me. He was concerned not of failure, but because he feared I was getting myself into something dangerous again. WLS and all surgeries come with possible complications and possible death.
You need to deepen your search into why your spouse is reacting this way and include him in everything you know

Hi. I can't answer your question because I am band-to-sleeve pre-op, too, with a surgery date of April 18. I'm nervous and excited for the new start, too. I hope you get more feedback on this post. Congratulations on your surgery date! Feels good to know that the lapband is coming out and a fresh start is on the horizon, doesn't it?

tab reacted to NewKristen in I WANT A DIET COKE SO BAD...HOW CAN I FLAT IT OUT
I read a poster one time about all the native effects of soda on your body. It had both diet and regular. There is no question that there are much better things to drink. I personally haven't had a soda since 2 weeks before my surgery, which was 8 weeks ago. But as one user put it..,it isn't like you are falling off the wagon by having a flat diet coke. One thing to remember tho..,is that the sweetener in diet coke is known to stimulate hunger. Not sure how that affects sleevers, since we had the part of our stomach removed that creates the "hungry" feelings.
My point about being nice was that if someone posts a question and people aren't nice in their response..,how long do you think the user will feel comfortable coming back here for support and help? My guess is not very. What is black and white to one poster, may not be to another. For example, I decided not to drink diet soda after surgery, on my own. Neither my bariatric surgeon or my gastro doc have any issue with diet soda. So just because one person has strong feelings about it doesn't mean everyone will. And more people will hear your opinions, if you don't berate them and treat them like an idiot.

Be nice love. If this is easy for you, then that is awesome. It isn't easy for everyone. And what the OP is asking isn't insane. My doctor says patients can drink diet pop as long as they let it go flat at 2 weeks.

    Hey everyone,
I'm so happy today. I am finally out of the obese category! As of today, I am officially just overweight. My BMI has come down from 47 to 29!!! I really never thought I would make it this far! I'm so happy and thankful again to God for this blessing. I prayed so long for him to release me from the fat prison I was in. I say this a lot when I post. I know this wouldn't be possible without Him. On another note, I'm having gallbladder surgery on Thursday. BLAH!! I will be glad when that is over. I guess losing so much weight so fast burns up the thing!! I will post after to let everyone know how I'm doing! Pics below. I went to the beach this past week and I was very brave to have my pic taken on the beach. Well, I wore shorts too! Well it is just a tiny pic!

    Ms antiband says it well!
I was afraid of the surgery and more afraid of failure. I kept my band secret but felt shame about the lousy weight loss AND all the vomiting for 10 bad years.
I wrestled with the revision decision for a long time. Reading this forum helped me build confidence. A doctor told me that I was one that could make it work because "I never gave up". That was empowering and has influenced how public I have been about my sleeve too.
I have so much empathy for those standing on the edge..trying to believe that it might work this time.
A key difference is I am just so DONE with food being what pleases me!!

I had a revision and I'm soooo happy with the sleeve. It's nothing
Iike the band and all it's maintenance .. Not to mention the horrid complications.
If you're having serious issues with your band that you feel are damaging you need to call your dr and ask to move your date up. At the very least get the band out.

Good decision to remove the band.. IMHO
Because I had to wait 18 months before my stomach healed and I could get sleeved, I gain a gazillion lbs. that's when I had to change my mind set. I'm done being unhealthy and eating like a pig.. AND letting food rule my life. I'M DONE! I refuse to fail, I refuse to be unhealthy, I refuse to be fat, I refuse to be unhappy because of being fat. I WILL SUCCEED!
Since my surgery I have never felt so healthy. Everything is going well and I have no desire to eat unhealthy. It's a mind set and you have to be in it to succeed.
Are you there? If not... Get there!

well for one I think the band was too easy to cheat on.. and the sleeve.. well you can only take in so much... if you go over that amt.. you will get sick.. and thats not a fun thing throwing up.. ive read enough on here for that alone to freak me out.. I dont do the throw up thing at all..I too work in a hospital that I had my surgery in..so it was ok.. just wanted to wake up was my only request... thats what I told them.. make sure I wake up lol. the thing about the sleeve is it too is a tool..and like any tool you need to help make it work.. follow the rules.. follow the game plan..follow the doctors orders... its harder to cheat on.. follow your nuts advise on foods to eat.. choose your foods wisely.. walk often... sip sip sip.. and the weight will fall off.. Im post op dec 20th and Ive lost 68lbs..and just started at the gym doing cardio.. and I was never a gym sort of person.. but now I see how important things are..and how food does not rule my life at all.. I work 2 full time jobs and go to the gym.. I figure if I can do it..anyone can..and im not easily motivated at times.. but I do it cuz Im beginning to see a new me.. still cant see what others see and that is hard for me.. I still see the old me.. but I guess one day I will see what they see.. so Im trusting them that I look good.. my labs came back today after a 3 mo check up and they were great.. no loss in any vitamins.. cuz I take them every day faithfully.. so .. get on the band wagon here.. join us in our journeys..share your story and we will help you along the way.. thats what we are here for.. advice and to help each other and be a positive support system.. thats what you need.. positive support.. we are here for you.. good luck

Hey Chub. I gotta say that I feel like $1000. Minimal discomfort. Hick ups ( day 1) and Gas through out have been the worst to deal with. Some soreness on my right side. Walking and gas x strips works wonders. I'm looking forward to feeling like $1,000,000 lol. Dr Garber, the staff at Mercy Medical Center and the staff at NYBG have been amazing. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't go anywhere else. I'm curious and excited about what's to come.
