I'm right there with you...26th right? I don't have an answer for you on the post opp stuff, except to say that I cleaned out my fridge and pantry and only stocked my post op protiens, waters, Soups, sugar free popsicles, Vitamins in preparation so they'll be right there. I also wrote down the phases on my calender so I don't try to get ahead of the recovery schedule..I hope that's helpful..
I wish I had more advice for you, but I think if we take it day by day we'll be ok

My favorite is EAS Advant Edge carb control chocolate fudge flavor it comes already mixed; I can not tolerate the mess you have to mix up yourself.

This is for my late june sleevers....those of us that are pushing through that liquid phase this last week..
If your getting sick of sweet Protein Shakes and popsicles, but can't find an edible broth try the little flavor packets that come in the ramen noodles...their 20cents at Wal-Mart, you can add unflavored Protein, and they taste pretty good. Just make sure you drink enough Water bc they have a high amount of salt.
    Good luck!!
Ps Congrats to everyone already recovering from surgery!

This DOES require a lifestyle change, and I'm really sorry that you seem to have thought it wouldn't. It's been hammered into me from my bariatric team and everything I've read. But don't get stressed about it. It's really not as bad as you're thinking.
You need to be mindful of what you eat, and you need to be more active. But don't think of this as a diet - that word has negative connotations to many of us, and it's not really true. You don't have to be that regimented or restrictive. Eat like a healthy person. Be aware of what you're eating and how much. You can have treats. Just be smart about it - don't mindlessly graze on chips that you don't really care about, or have treats more than you have good food. Have that ice cream. Make it a really special scoop of premium stuff, but not a pint of it. Enjoy it thoroughly, and then move on. Maybe you ate fairly lightly that day, or maybe you just decide to go light on the carbs for the next meal or two. Or maybe you do it so seldom that you decide you can absorb the calories from that small treat. But YOU are in control, not some arbitrary list of what you can or can't eat. Just remember to pay attention, and keep things balanced, and you'll be fine.

June 26th. Went to my pre-op appt today. I am down 24lbs so far. This liquid pre op diet is hard! Obviously it's working but dang i need a little more variety. I've been doing my Protein Shakes and chicken broth but its getting old real fast! I am so looking forward to this new journey and chapter in my life!

Hi, I have my surgery scheduled for June 26. I am both nervous and excited! I have my final weigh in on Monday the 17th, but there has been no mention of a preop diet so far. Guess I will find out then!

Everyone goes thru the same thing. 2 days before surgery I went to my favorite diner and ordered all of my favorites. I was very surprised to see I had not gained an ounce. I am not telling you, in anyway to keep eating but done feel like you are alone. If it makes you feel better you will still be able to eat your favorites. Once you go thru the first few weeks after surgery you will then again begin to get back on your old eating (just not the same portions). I have klearned the trick is to use a sandwich plate. It make your mind think you have a whole plate of food. That is the best idea I picked up. Remind yourself you really want this and need to teach yourself control. Maybe you should stay away from restaurants until after surgery and you will see no more cravings. Keep yourself active by starting a journal, then you will be able to see what triggers there binges. Good luck to you in the following weeks.

This is the week before you have to start your pre-op liquid diet. I think what you're doing is normal, I know that even though my surgery is at the end of July, I am eating stuff that I know that I'll miss. I'm not doing it every day - but i'm drinking my diet pop, am having my occasional beer, eating smoked sausage etc. This is your food funeral and its all good. Better now than wanting to do it after you're sleeved and committed.

Your prep diet is important in order to shrink your fatty liver. This part of the process is really important. It is only a couple of weeks, look deep and find the stuff you need to choose to do yourself justice here.
You will be able to eat that stuff again. It may take some time, but there is no need for a food funeral. I had a mojito recently and it was awesome. The pre OP diet will past it is just a couple of short weeks of a long life. Find the resolve in yourself.
The post OP diet will pass. It is just a few months in a long, wonderful life. You can do it.
