Macy6 got a reaction from Pookeyism in Odd question
I have this problem due to my gall bladder, there are certain foods that get me, and other times it is a fluke. Because of how quickly it is leaving your system there is probably going to be a lack of calories/nutrients that are absorbed, but if it is happening infrequently it shouldn't pose a problem. You may want to keep track in a journal of the item you ate, and the components. So if you had shrimp ceviche, write down everything you put it in and then if it 2 weeks it happens again and there was one common ingredient you may want to try to avoid it.

I went back and read some of your past posts. It seems like you are probably a little overwhelmed, being a mom, a wife and taking care of yourself after having surgery. You aren't feeling well, because you just had surgery, you are tired, you are healing and the thing you used to turn to has been ripped away, even if you wanted to cheat you can't right now. A few days ago you posted you were struggling getting in your fluids, are you also struggling with Protein? You need to give yourself some time, you need to make your husband realize that you need more help right now, do you have family or friends close who could help out with the kids over the weekend? just to give you a few days off? Don't regret, you can't change it now. You have to look forward and take everything step by step. As of yesterday you were down 23lbs, and 35 in total since pre op diet? You are doing amazing, your healing is a little compromised because of life, it is to be expected. You have to get yourself healthy in order to keep the rest of your family healthy. If it means leaving the dishes for a few days, the laundry for a week, or sending your husband and kids out for dinner every night then do it. You got this! You are a mom!!! You are strong, you will get through this! Your priority right now is you, get your Water in and your protein and take care of yourself.

Macy6 got a reaction from Fiddleman in Cipro plan and being sleeved?
From what I just read its the Calcium that needs to be avoided. I would check with your PCP but it seems like the Iron would be OK, but anything with calcium needs to be taken, like you said, 6 hours before of 2 hours after. The calcium can prevent the Cipro from being absorbed. So 6am-Cipro and any non calcium minerals, 10- calcium minerals, 1pm- calcium minerals, 7-8pm- Cipro and non calcium minerals. You may take in less calcium than preferred for the 6 weeks, but the Cipro would more than likely take preference for this time.

Macy6 got a reaction from southernsoul in depression after surgery?
I have had it happen in the past when I lost a significant amount of weight. I think the important thing is to not be afraid to ask for help, seek the help of a counselor and your PCP if necessary. It took a long time for me to come around and in the process I ended up gaining back all of the weight plus more. In the end it was with the help of a counselor that really helped. I think it is difficult to process all of the emotions related to weight loss, the excess hormones and the physical changes you are going through.

My mother was hospitalized last night for some internal bleeding. We don't know what's causing it & we are trying not to get freaked out. We're hoping for something like an ulcer, or anything that's easily managed. Anyway, I also happened to have my 3rd appt with the psychologist for my eval this morning. After being at the hospital til midnight & not sleeping much, I arrived for my appt late, flustered, and not very focused. I explained what was going on & she asked me several questions about how the evening had gone. I mentioned that I had not had a chance to eat last night, and therefore had taken time to make a good Breakfast this morning. She asked me if I had realized that, in the midst of stress, I had not turned to food for comfort or stress relief. I really had to think about that for a minute, but then I realized it was true. Even though I'm still pre-op, I have begun to change my eating habits already. In the middle of everything else, I felt really good about that & it helps to build my confidence as I get closer to surgery.

I know I still have a long way to go, but I'm excited about my weight loss so far. I am very happy about my decision to have VSG. I feel so much better. I'm thoroughly enjoying this process.
    Here are some pics.
This first pic is me a couple years ago at nearly my highest weight of 274 (on the left) and me a couple weeks ago at around 230 (on the right).

hi everyone! i'm jackie. just a little back story- i went to a seminar on jan. 24 and decided to have the surgery. went to the the doctor on jan. 25 and weighed 398 lbs. she made the referral to the gastric surgeon and i was on my way! went to doctor for a weigh-in on feb. 22 and weighed 390 lbs. yesterday, i had my first consultation with the surgeon and i'm down to 384 lbs. yeah! 15 lbs in 2 months on my own!
i liked the surgeon and he answered my questions and then i met with 2 different nurses and they were really helpful. i found out that my insurance will cover the surgery. yeah! i have three things to do pre-op. i have an endoscopy scheduled in early april and then i have to see a cardiologist for an ekg and stress test and see a psychiatrist for a consultation. i should have all of these done by some time in may.
when i asked the nurse about how long it would be until my surgery, she said three months or less. omg! cannot believe it will be that soon. so i'm thinking some time in late june. i'm so excited!

I think it is a mix. I imagine that not everyone is compliant 100% and there is a definite variety in stages, foods allowed and the speed that people go thru stages. Peanut Butter is on my no list all together (not that I necessarily think anything is wrong with it, but just to show that even between us there is a difference) I think it is about trying to be compliant, and getting in your Protein. Talk to your Dr./NUT and see what works for you.

Macy6 got a reaction from chardgrl in Selfish or not?
Do you think it is selfish? Do you feel like once you have the baby you will give up and most likely gain the weight back? I honestly feel we all have our reasons for WLS. I want to be healthy, I really do, but I would be lying if I didn't say that I secretly searched for clothes online, and longingly looked at the shoes in the store and dream of the day I can wear them. I would say that I hope that once you loose the weight you realize how great you feel, and how badly you want to stay that way, not only for you, but that baby. Do I think it is selfish? No, I would imagine you aren't the first and definitely not the last.

Macy6 got a reaction from measureofme in 50lbs Between 2wk Pre Op and 2wks Post... Now NOTHING
First off you are FAR from a failure! You did this! YOU DID THIS... for you! You didn't do it to change over night, you didn't do it to be in a size 20-16-12-8-4 in a week... month... or even year. YOU deserve this, and you will do it! The worst thing you could do right now is to give up, don't cancel your account! My surgeon has emphasized many times how important it is to maintain that support system after. I have not had surgery, so I am not going to even try to give you advice, but I would say that looking at your post that you really need to try to bump up your Protein. You admit that things aren't 100% but it is taking baby steps to get there. Make sure you are journaling what you eat, watch for the liquid calories. Check for weight loss support groups in your area, the one my bariatric program runs is open to the public, and the nutritionist and nurse both attend the group. Find a nutritionist who you can see, maybe your PCP can recommend someone. I know you are frustrated, but hang in there!
