Just to give all you future sleevers some reference. I was sleeved 2/25 by Dr Thomas Borland in New Iberia, LA. I'm now 5 days post op and I went shopping today. Not for long mind you. And only to two stores and I did sit and rest while in each store but I feel pretty good. I've had quiet a few other surgeries (lithotripsy, tonsillectomy, gall bladder removed, uteral ablasion, tubes tied, hysterectomy) and I can say this was the less painful of any. However my problems came day one and two trying to drink Water or anything else. I would dry heave and gag with each try. Not a horrible thing but uncomfortable and exhausting when you are drugged and weak. I was discharged from hospital same day as surgery. That same night I walked around my hotel complex. I did find getting comfortable to be a challenge and so I would sleep in bed a few hours and then in the chair for awhile (not unusual for me on a normal night). But this is getting better after a few days. I haven't had pain meds since day 1 but I am loving Gas X strips. I don't feel hunger at all and it hasn't bothered me to watch others eat. However I would love to just chew on a big greasy cheeseburger. Not swallow. Just move it around in my mouth and spit it out. (Shut up you Pervert). Anyway. That's my experience. So if you do not want a response, why are you taking the time to post? I think it's a good move on your part to continue to work with doctors, honestly I don't see how you can do all you do, and not lose weight with the surgery, there must be something medically wrong with you, and I wish you good luck and speedy answers.

My name is Jackie and I am from PA. I am 25 years old and have a beautiful daughter named Jasmine. I work full time, and finishing school in forensic accountant, on top of both a single mother! I started my journey about 2 years ago. I was scared and nervous at first, so instead I did tons and tons of research until this past August I decided to make the first step into getting surgery. I have completed my doctors appointments and am waiting on approval! I hope to make new friends on the site for support and hear everyone's story! The pictures are of myself and my daughter

I just wanted all you helpers to know how much I appreciate you. You guys are wonderful! I have found so many needed answers from reading these posts. It has helped me before and after surgery. I can find most answers just by looking Keep up the awesome work!

I was spilling out of a 42DD and at goal now wear a 38D nicely. I am 60 and expected the girls to look like heck, but they don't. I think it is because I had a reduction/lift some 30 years ago, so they were already in better shape than for most women my age.
Just don't ask about the thighs... O.M.G.

Ah yes the boobs *sigh*.....well my cup size stays the same no matter the weight, currently 44G. The only difference now is that because I'm 39 they have now become saggy with this weight loss! I hate it! So yes, after I lose my weight I totally want a reduction/lift. I have been big boobed my whole life and am looking forward to at least a C cup and giving my back a much needed break! Lol!

Sorry to hear that but I am sure you are in good hands! Barix was great but I really have nothing to compare it too, lol!! It is a great gift you are giving yourself. Best thing I have ever done. You will do great!!!!

Before I had WLS, I was terrified. I don't think I was actually any less terrified when I checked into the hospital or when I was rolled into the OR. But, I did it anyway and I honestly don't know why I didn't run, but I'm glad I didn't, even considering how screwy my journey has been (you can find my story on my profile if you're interested!). I was a food addict and I knew what I was signing on to give up! Imagine if you were an alcoholic and you were signing on to never be able to get drunk again. You wouldn't be doubting your fears, you'd be running for the hills!!
We are not just changing our body or our eating habits, we are changing the way we live. For me at least, a lot of my day revolves around getting to my next meal. Eating is social and therapeutic and not least of all necessary process to thrive. We can't quit cold turkey like most addicts. We have to find a way to drink without getting drunk, and I think it's ok to be terrified by that idea.
But, I promise you, that this will be easier than you think. And I promise you, that you will love the new you. I promise you that will not miss food like you think you will. And most of all, I promise you will love feeling healthy!!!!

I use Spanx as well I usually get mine from Lane Bryant.

My psych evaluation was strange as well... asked me none related questions and then took a test on depression... I was cleared by the end of the appointment which made me happy!

I hope it gets better for you!! I'm glad you posted, I have been looking for posts 24 hr after surgery to prepare myself!!

It's honestly not that bad. It's more of an entire torso pain than incision pain. It's like when you're sick & cough until your ribs hurt.
A couple times I swallowed to quickly and instantly felt nauseated. The dr wants me to drink 2oz every few hours but I'm managing about an oz.

I tried to catch up on all the ins and outs and nuances of this thread but my male brain started over-heating and tripped a breaker which started a movie about fishing reels.

@Lovepresciousjas - Dr. Nihalani is doing my surgery too! Tentatively on 05/17 - Ive been waiting for someone else that has used Dr. Nihalani!!

Today is my 7 month surgiversery! I can't believe how far I have come. I remember confessing to my husband the night before my surgery "what if this doesn't work, what if I fail?" As of today I have lost 101lb pounds. I am not at the finish line yet, but I know I will get there! I am 5'9", my start weight was 285 with a BMI of 42, I wore size 24-26 pants and 2x-3x tops. Today I weigh 184 lb, BMI 27.1, I wear size 14 pants and Large tops. I am so pleased with my progress, and I know for the first time in my life that my goals will become reality. I would do it all again in a heartbeat!

my dr. told me to try the NO!No! says it works... i is expensive though... but really thinking about buying one. so tired of the excess facial hair. was hoping to hear that getting sleeved would help with that...bummer!

I was sleeved 1/15/13 and I had my first period on my own last sunday and it lasted 5 days, like a "normal" one! I know it sounds strange but I'm hoping to get one every month. I would love to have a baby. If you look under special interests there is a PCOS support group too. There are lots of women on there with great success stories concerning PCOS!
