  1. I've had the very same thoughts. I'm in Texas so everything is bigger (including the plates AND the asses) .
  2. The first four days of the preop liquid diet are the suck. You can either do it now and get it over with or you can deal with it at the same time you're dealing with recovering from surgery which will be double-suck. If I had to do this surgery again I'd demand the two-week preop diet. </tough love>
  3. Some people say their tastes change after surgery, I was just wondering if you were one of those people.
  4. I love positive posts - keep up the good work!
  5. I'm just curious - what did you think of Protein Drinks before surgery?
  6. At work! I could cure cancer myself if I could have this at work!
  7. You. Look. Amazing! A few months ago I was at one of the support groups I belong to and the topic was "how much is enough". The jist was you may start this journey with a number in mind that you want to achieve, but it's completely possible you may hit a point before that where you are completely healthy, look great, and there is no need to try for lower. Unfortunately there's no magic formula for determining that so it's something you have to resolve for yourself.
  8. One of the best naps I ever had in my life was when I was put under for an endoscopy. I saw the anesthesiologist inject something into my IV and the next thing I knew I woke up in a recovery room feeling refreshed and ready to go. Years later i had the funniest experience with being put out. I went to an oral surgeon for a biopsy of my gum. i was laid back in a dental chair, there was a flurry of activity around me with the doctor and assistants, and then I realized that this was taking awhile. I asked "are we going to get started anytime soon" and one of the ladies laughed at me and said "we're done already" - just then i noticed a huge wad of cotton in my jaw. it was like a chunk of time had passed without me knowing! For my sleeve surgery, the anesthesiologist said he was going to give me something to relax. i didn't see him give me anything - I walked to the surgery room, laughed and talked with the nurses as they got me comfortable on the table, and the next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovery room with this bad gas cramp and feeling groggy. They saw I was in discomfort, offered me pain meds, i said yes and it helped within minutes. By the time they wheeled me to my room I was laughing and joking with people on the way there.
  9. i hardly ever had heartburn until after getting sleeved. That being said, i started taking the PPI again that I was taking before surgery and it's helped some. i may need to ask for a different PPI. For the record - I *STILL* don't regret having surgery.
  10. My suggestion? Keep up the good work!
  11. As I understand it, there is not a lot of functionality built into the phone app to make changes to your profile. You'll have to do it from your PC, unless someone knows something I don't (which is completely possible).
  12. How was the hangover? I haven't had alcohol yet.
  13. Listen, there are enough of us in the dysfunctional weigh yourself everyday club, we are not looking for new members. You are torturing yourself needlessly by doing that. Commit to weighing once a week AND NO MORE! You're a week and a half out and wondering why you're still on full liquids? I was on full liquids for two weeks and lots of people around here don't get to full liquids until they've done 2 weeks of Clear Liquids after surgery! Slow down please, there's no fire. Fantastic job on the protein, the fluids, and especially the walking. Keep up the good work! It's gonna be okay, hang in there!
  14. Are you using the phone app or a computer?
  15. I believe the correct term for me to use here is "yowza"! Well done - you look amazing.
  16. Lapband wasn't an option and gastric bypass looked way too complex and I didn't want to deal with malabsorption issues. Sleeve was the only way to go for me and I'd do it again in a heartbeat INCLUDING the two-week preop liquid only diet.
  17. Hi Amanda - welcome! Not mincing words here, but you said GB twice in your post. I assume this means "gastric bypass" - you realize that this is a Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy board and these are two different procedures? The people who frequent this board are mostly pre or post op Sleeve Gastrectomy folks. Anyway, I'll try to answer your questions: How long did it take to get everything completed for surgery? I started the process in January of this year with a "meet your surgeon" visit. Insurance required 3 months of Nutritionist visits (also called "supervised weight loss) where I could lose weight, or stay the same, but under no circumstances gain or I could lose coverage. My surgery was May 28. What types of medical testing was required? It was required that I have a cardiac clearance so I had to have an EKG and some sort of ultrasound done on my heart. It was maybe an hour visit and I was cleared. I also had to have a psych eval. Again another one hour visit that seemed pretty routine. I had to have about 12 vials of blood drawn the week before surgery for presurgery labs. What kind of diet are you on pre op? I had no prescribed diet beforehand except the two-week preop liquid only diet and Clear liquids the day before. Other people here had different requirements than I did as you will see.
  18. I guess I'm still uncomfortable with pictures of myself, wanted to change it up a little. It's gotten me some interesting comments!
  19.
  20. you want to consult with your doctor on this BUT i take a multi first thing in the morning and one right before bed. I take a 500mg calcium citrate first thing in the morning, one at midday, and one before bed i take a 500mcg B-12 sublingual first thing in the morning.
  21. Wouldn't using a sippy cup be pretty much the same as using a straw? Some folks were advised against using straws to avoid getting air taken in with each sip.
