  1. Apologies for the unintentional hijack of your thread Amy. Also bumping for visibility.
  2. At the risk of sounding like an idiot, I'm going to share this. Even before I started this journey, I dealt with lack of energy and motivation. My doctor found I had low T and started treating me and it helped a little. Still wasn't enough. The beginning of this year, I decided to go the WLS route. I started exercising in February and that helped a little too. Still not enough. Had the surgery in May and was all fired up but I noticed it started wearing away. Today I took the day off as part of the holiday and it was all I could do to get out of bed before 1pm. I don't feel sad about anything in particular, just have no motivation to do anything and I feel frustrated because I feel like I'm just lazy and I can't snap out of it. Is this depression? Should I see someone?
  3. I'll tell you what you're gonna do, you're gonna calm down! You lost 30lbs in the first two weeks and you think you haven't lost any more but you don't know? I'm a bigger person, I started out at 416 and at no point (even after surgery) have I lost 30lbs in two weeks. You are being way too hard on yourself. The other thing you're gonna do is you're going to get those fluids and protein in because if you don't, your body WILL stop trying to lose weight in order to protect itself. You MUST nourish your body, it's no longer an option. HUGS
  4. What is it that you're feeling Amy? Is it lack or motivation, lack of energy, something else? I may not be able to help, but you have my attention.

  6. What Amanda Rae said plus Vitamin Shoppe. You'll want to wait until you're on full foods. They're delicious but VERY dense.
  7. Agreed - keep up the good work Amanda Rae!
  8. Me too!
  9. You'd only have to feel guilty if you weren't doing anything about the weight you've gained. You're about to undertake something huge, and despite what some of our families, friends, and coworkers may tell us, it certainly isn't the easy way out. Congrats on your decision!
  10. Try some of the Syntrax flavors from Vitamin Shoppe or online at http://bjsbariatrics.com/product/synSamplePack.html
  11. Same here, don't sweat it. It'll come off (and probably take some more with it ) in a few days.
  12. This is why I use nasal pillows instead of a full face mask or nose cup. The leaks are minimal and easy to resolve. I highly recommend trying them if you haven't already.
  13. Ditto here Fiddle, but happy to bump the thread for you!
  14. I got the strawberry banana flavor in a tub and just threw the rest away yesterday. It tasted okay at first but I got tired of it quickly. Even with milk I didn't like it.
  15. I have a scale with a 1000lb capacity. Do yourself a favor after surgery and weigh yourself once per week. Pick a day that works for you and weigh only on that day. If you start weighing yourself like certain psychos around here (yes myself included) you're just setting yourself up for heartbreak. Also, start measuring yourself - this will help for those times the scale isn't moving.
  16. Facebook!
  17. I forgot about Agave - I like it as well!
  18. I prefer Ideal and, to me, tastes just like sugar. Unfortunately, restaurants don't carry it and it's not always easy to find so I end up mixing Sweet and Low and Equal. I *HATE* Splenda and Stevia has a funky aftertaste.
  19. Yes but painkillers helped! It also went away on its own in a few days.
  20. Cinnamon Roll - 24g (17g fiber) Apple Pie - 24g (18g fiber) strawberry Cheesecake - 25g (17g fiber) (There are several other flavors, these are the ones I bought today) As I understand it, if you subtract the Fiber from the carbs you end up with net carbs which in each of these cases is pretty acceptable. If the concept of net carbs is hooey, then yeah the carbs are ridiculous!
  21. I was released from the hospital on full fluids which included Soups that you could blend up, strain out the chunks, and eat the rest.
  22. My surgeons say at some point we're supposed to wean off of Protein shakes (and I guess protein bars as well) and get our protein primarily from food. Both seem like very efficient and convenient ways to get protein, I have to wonder are they really that bad?
  23. Every time I looked at protein bars I wasn't impressed - something on the nutrition label turned me off, usually too high sugar. I actually bought one once and hated it, very sticky and gummy on my teeth. And then I discovered Quest bars. I've only tried the Peanut Butter so far but bought three other kinds just a few hours ago. I really like them and they're not too sweet. I highly recommend trying these if you haven't already.
  24. Understood - gyms have a wide variety of cardio machines you can use. My advice above would be fine for all. Also might want to consider swimming or just walking laps in the pool.
