I hate getting put under, the surgery itself didn't scare me it was getting put to sleep. I had no issues though. The person that will put you under stays the whole time from the time they put you under till you are "woken up" you will do great!!

I am 18 months post op and I drink 2-3 sparkling waters per day and before I got knocked up about 3 beers per week. Its not against my surgeons guidelines I have no problems tolerating them and this has not and will not stretch my sleeve. I made goal in 9 months and maintained until now!

Been thinking about the things I have and will be able to do once I get to goal and just before. This is meant to be funny but true, feel free to add to the list, here are a few I thought of:
Being able the walk up a flight of stairs without an oxygen tank strapped to my back
Not having to purchase slip ons because i can't reach my feet
Being able to see my feet
For the men, Yes I do still have a penis, I knew it was there somewhere
No more acrobatics to clean my tushy
being able to use a regular towel instead of two sewn together to cover my really really big blessing in the back....
Saving money because I don't have to buy towels extra larger to cover my really really big blessing...
this is just a few....hope you get a giggle from it.......feel free to add to it

During the time I was in "active weight loss", the first 12 to 18 months or so, the frequent congratulations and " you look so good" comments were awesome. They were one of the things that kept me diligent and working to follow all the rules and stay on track. I don't mean to say that I was an attention hound, but the immediate feed back was a motivator and felt great.
In addition there were NSV victories coming left and right, the ability to climb stairs, fit in stadium seats, set in booths, etc were more instant gratification and motivation
Now most of the people I encounter don't know anything about me "before" or have already shared in my transformation. I have recently started a new career and those people all know me as the "after" version. When I talk about running or biking as a hobby, to them I'm just a normal guy. It is bitter sweet. On the one hand, they don't look at me with disbelief, they see a guy that is fully capable of running for sport and completing long distance bicycle rides. On the other that "Wow, you have come so far" sparkle in the eyes of long term friends is nowhere to be found if I were to be telling them of my new hobbies.
There still is the rare occasion when I encounter someone I have not seen since pre-surgery, and those times I get to re-live the initial joy I had from the congratulations and way-to-go's but its very seldom.
I can't say I'm surprised about the diminishing attention, it's the natural course of events. At some point in time we all fall away from being the latest, greatest show in town and become who we will be from here on out. I do have to admit I miss those days of new experiences and excitement. Am I alone in this period of having to adjust to the new normal? Should I be concerned that I'm going to morph into a Daffodil?

I was nervous up until the time I was put under.... Then afterwords a little depressed. I never realized how much food had been a part of my life till after the surgery. So I had some ups and downs the first week afterwords..... I am definitely getting better though and I am very glad I did it. I think we all go through pre-jitters when opting for any type of permanent surgery.

I actually make this and like it. If you want you can add a little unflavored Protein powder to it to give it some more Protein. But not a lot or it gets too thick.
    Low carb BBQ Sauce
    Ingredients
    1 c Tomato Sauce
    3 T Worcestershire Sauce
    1 T Cider Vinegar
    6 packets Splenda
    1 T Chili powder
    2 t Tabasco Sauce
    2 t Garlic Powder
    1 t pepper
    1 t liquid smoke
    Directions
Combine and cook over low heat for 10 minutes
