  1. I started at 330, and was 310-ish at surgery. You're not alone! There are TONS of us.
  2. I agree about donating even the rough stuff, but I have gardening shirts that are quite literally unwearable. Stretched out, stained, unraveled seams, etc. THOSE went in the trash. As did old period panties. Can I say that outside of the 'powder room'? yep. I just did. Good for you! Saturday it is!
  3. I haven't heard about tea tree promoting hair growth... but it is an anti-fungal and can help with dandruff! I'd suggest making sure you are getting enough Protein, Water, and also take pre-natal Vitamins, or folic acid and Biotin supplements. Good luck!
  4. I've been eyeing my summer clothes that are coming up. I don't have enough warm-weather clothes to do laundry only once a week. Shopping time!
  5. I haven't put anything on my scars except occasional almond oil when I was moisturizing everything else already. I'm not too concerned about them or embarrassed by mine.
  6. hrm... I've had weak/dizzy spells, but my bloodwork to check it didn't include a K test. Interesting! I wonder if that could be adding to it for me! I'm certainly not getting the amounts of K that I did before surgery.
  7. Good for you two! I was noticing the other day that some of my shirts that fit me 100lbs heavier still fit... My husband said "uh... sweetie? They really really don't fit anymore. You just think they do." whoops!
  8. I'm issuing a weekend challenge. To all of you who have clothes that are TOO BIG in your closet (Laura-ven, I'm looking at you, too)... GET RID OF THEM!!! You will never need them again. Do not hold on to these clothes as a back-up plan! Plan to succeed! I'm going to take a look in my closet and dresser and make three piles: -keep because it fits me, is comfortable, and looks good on me -throw it away because no one else would want that nasty old/dirty/torn/worn out thing anyways, and -donate! I always found it frustrating when the only plus size things at Salvation Army were muumuus. My nice things will go directly there. Good luck, and God speed! Challenge accepted. Do it, and do it right!
  9. Yay for you! I love NSVs! It must have felt so great to fit in them!
  10. Prevention is prevention, no matter how you put it.
  11. The doctor from my psych eval. for surgery told me that it takes the average person about two years for their mind to catch up to their body when you loose a large amount of weight. It was good to hear that so I know this won't happen forever. My husband recently saw some pictures from a year ago (I'm 6 months post-op) and said "I didn't remember that you looked like that! I had kind of forgotten, and have gotten used to how you look now." Weird.
  12. There are several posts in the Pregnancy forum by people in the same boat as you. Good luck!
  13. I was never asked, but I was always worried that someone would ask.
  14. I started at 330 and was 310 at the time of my surgery.
  15. You look so great! Congratulations! I'm just about 6 months out too.
  16. Thanks everyone! "Cute as a button" heh. I probably haven't been called that since I was 5 years old!
  17. I couldn't figure out how to add these photos to my last post, so I'm putting them here. I had surgery November 16th 2012. The first is a pre-op picture from last March. I weighed about 330lbs. The workout gear picture was taken April 25th, 2013 right before doing a C25k unit. I probably weighed 237? The blue/white dress pictures were taken May 4th, 2013, and I weighed 234lbs. Highest weight- 330 Surgery- 310 Current- 233 My clothes fit VERY differently when I'm wearing shapewear. In the blue/white dress I'm wearing a shapewear slip which definitely smooths out the skin and makes clothes fit better. I'm not wearing shapewear in my workout clothes. I find myself dressing up more than I did before because I'm feeling good. I'm definitely having a surge of confidence right now. Edit: I am 25 years old and 5'10" tall.
  18. Don't be ashamed or scared- Tell the truth. Lying is toxic, stressful, and puts a load on our shoulders. You don't owe them an explanation, but you also can choose to not lie. You can say "I had surgery" or some type of beginning of the truth, or you can tell really inquisitive people that you're not comfortable talking about it yet. When you're ready... tell the truth!
  19. Yesterday I sat in a hammock chair that I was given YEARS and YEARS ago, but was never under the weight limit.
