Greek yogurt - I never ate it before surgery and now love it! In your later stages, you can eat things like quinoa salads, cheese enchiladas, meatless chilis, lots of choices - you'll essentially eat whatever you did before, just in smaller (much smaller) portions.
I dont restrict carbs, sugar, calories - I track and target protein and fluid intake only. It just so happens with just targeting protein and fluid, the carbs, sugar and calories stay naturally low!
Your surgical center should have a nutritionist on staff that should provide you with a very detailed diet plan for both veg and non-vegetarian patients. If not? Yikes, that scares me - but I know this VST community will come to the rescue!

You might have just eaten something with a lot of sodium or something. Don't beat yourself up - you'll drop it and then some!

You'll get the hang of this! I can finally (11 weeks out) sense when it's safe to take my next bite. You'll get there, buddy!

I was accused of "changing" within my first week post-op as well. I think the shift where I always put others first to ME first was what was being detected. I was shocked, but thought about it and agreed. "Yes, yes I've changed...for the better and you are going to have a happier, much healthier partner as a result." You two will have the advantage of having a similar experience and goal, but you'll need to be prepared for the "now what?" moment when you are both at goal. Btw, we are doing great 10 weeks and my partner is "feeling the love" a lot right now...if you know what I mean?

Hey Jon - VSG is the single best decision I have made in my life! I am down 41 lbs since my first consult with my surgeon in November 2012. I was sleeved on January 3rd and have said goodbye to 25 lbs in less than a month. Each day I feel better and better. You've come to the right place for information and support. Welcome!
