  1. You're doing wonderful! Yes, it's been one year and not easy but we have made it. I'm now done 100 pounds and wanting to get down 100 more pounds...... Saw the doctor the other day, he said that only 45% of the lap-band people loose hundered pounds the first year and studies show they re-gain some weight back the second year. I haven't start exercising yet, but today is the day I start working out. Keep up the good work....
  2. I know you can do it, check with doctor for after care help, it's help me alot to open my eyes, plus listen to Bariatric Raido on your computer or you can call the toll free number @ 1-877-474-3302 ask him questions. My class has help me think when I go to eat. You can do it!
  3. Hi, I had my surgery done Feb 15th, 2007, I have lost 98 pounds, its been very hard, but we have chosen the hard way not the by-pass. You must chew very slowly and take 30 minutes to finish a meal. I notice that I would eat soft or mushy food that was higher in calories, once I started eating food like protien then salad or veggies I got full sooner and started lossing weight again. You must eat protien first, then fats, then vegetables and fruits, skip the carbs. I attend a class threw my doctors, once a week for almost a year, it has help me understand my I eat when not hungry, other difficult things arise. It has really open my eyes and made me think when I go to eat or when I'm eating. Most import you must drink at least 64 oz of water a day, ad crystal light to the water it helps get it down. I have not started as of yet to exercise, I need to, I don't know what I'm waiting for. My goal is to weigh 150 pounds, I no it now needs to come from me, I have the tool to my my band work, but now I need to do my part also. You'll make, set a goal and try to reach for it everyday.
  4. Hi, My band slipped last month, I had very bad pain upper middle area all day and night. Had to have an upper GI to see if my band had slipped and it did, only on one side. So my Doctor unfilled me and in one month he will do another upper GI to see if the band reposition it self. I still had restriction when I ate with my slip. I now have gained 3 pound in three weeks. I'm trying very hard not to eat much, but I don't feel full at all. I was very upset when the Doctor told me what had happen, all I wanted to do was to eat. My classes I go to for weekly support threw my Doctors office has help me to be more aware. Good Luck with you next Doctor appt.
  5. You should check into others Doctors, my Doctor only charge me 8,500.00. I think 17,000 is way to much money. I did my band six months ago and love it. I had no problems. I live in California had in done in Orange County the Hospital specializes in by-pass and band surgeries, I had great staff and after care at the Hospital. My Doctor is very concern with his patients and after care. I attended there weekly meeting which helps alot understand how we got fat, learn how to deal with everyday issues. Now that I have the band you can only eat small amounts or you'll be sick, or eat to fast you'll be sick. So we need to learn how to reprogram our selfs, deal with everyday life, I now see when a problem arrives I turn to food, some people turn to other things, so the classes really helps, the class go for a year which was 650.00 more. The adjustment were included with my initial fee. I went to three Doctors before I made my decision, found out that my insurance wouldn't pay for me, my BMI was to high, so I had to pay for the surgery. All the cash fees I learned were negotiable, you just have to ask the finance person at the doctors office. My doctor told me that there is a 2% removal of the band from erosion and slight chance of slippage. My insurance company paid for all my test for the surgery, but if I wanted the by-pass they would have paid 80% of that.
  6. I would like to know where to find the info on the AP Band and how new it is?
  7. Has anyone had slippage since they had there band put in? Doctor told me yesterday when I went for a upper GI due to one day on bad pain that my band had slipping slightly and to wait two weeks and see how I feel? Help

  10. Hello everyone, Sound like a lot is happening with everyone, I think being summer and all its harder for me to workout, but I'm trying. Drinking Water helps me stay full. I love to go on vacation, this summer it was much better for me to fit on an airplane seat. I lost more weight on vacation due to being more active then at home. It's so hot here now in California don't feel like walking today. Maybe later to night when it cools down. Are bodies are starting to show changes in our skin and clothes, I think that is harder for spouses too see us change, maybe they feel if we stay fat, they have nothing to worry about, no one else is going to look at us, maybe they don't feel secure about are new look. I hope everything works out for you and your family. Getting help is a good thing. Have you also tried a support group for lap band in your area, I have been going and learned al ot about how sometimes your relationships change, learning about myself.
  11. Your working out alot, maybe it's the lack of water or not eating enough, your body might be hanging on to the fat stored. When I was keeping a food chart I saw what I was eating and increased my food intake and it was helping me see what worked for my weigth loss. I know it's hard. I wish I was walking as much as you!:whoo:
  12. I'm eating a protein shake in the morning, mid morning about 20 peanuts or cheese. Then for lunch salad with some kind of beans in it or meat and cheese. I'm drink 100oz of water a day. Dinner chicken, salad or ribs and a salad or fish. Sometime in the morning I have a egg and saugage. Sometime before I go to bed I have eggsalad. Are you doing any walking or going to the gym?
  13. I have been swollen too..... I drank my morning shake and got sick. Over the weekend same thing happen three day in a row. I got adjustment a month ago. Maybe I'm drink to fast or eating to fast also. It's hard to know whats going on with the band.
  14. :whoo:Glad to hear that your new band is working for you. I very happy the surgery went well. Keep me inform of your progress. :clap2:
  15. You're doing Great keep it up....... I was giving away my clothes, but stopped. Now I'm saving them for a consignment store also. I was able to finally get into a size 22 yesterday, made me feel much better about my self. Today while looking for a par of pants to wear, I found a par of size 32 pants, held them up and just shook my head; I can't believe it took me so long to get help. I have now had my second adjustment also, I find myself eating to fast causing me great pain or PB too. You're doing wonderful keep it up:clap2:
  16. I'm with you, it's wrong, buy breaking the law you should have no rights to any services here in the USA at all. Their children should be deported also. The children should be allowed to come back when they reach adult age, is able to work, or get an education. Our four fathers put these laws into place along time ago and with structure for a reason.
  17. Hello, I finally started doing some excise for the month of July, boy it's hard to get going and stay with it. I have made it seven days out of 17. How is everyone else doing? Water is good 64oz a day. I need to get motivated.....
  18. Hi, I was reading everyone threads, I went and had adj. last Friday, this was my second one in a band that holds 5cc. My first fill was March 30 and now June 22 2007. This has made a big difference for me. Lost five more pounds since then. I really fill full when I eat, I think now the reason I waited so long for my second adj. was I wasn't ready to give up the food........ I could eat a lot more and the weight was come off, but very slow. Now its a big difference in the filling when eating now. Doctor said to come back on three months before having another adj. New weight is 294 haven't been there for over 17 years ago when I had my child. My goal is to weight 150 pounds. Can't wait.....
  19. I think if you break the law and you are here ilegally with childern that were born in the U.S., you and your family should be removed, Deported, sent back to your country you can from. When the childeren turn 18 can come back. I work to hard, paying taxes, following the laws that were put into place by our goverment. I just came back from China, they are much more together than we are, they have no welfare, homless, everyone works, there childern want an education. I feel they will pass us by, while we have so many problems with with homeless, welfare, ilegallys, high taxes, medical/dental system. Ilegallys are causing U.S. people alot of money......... The U.S has caused these problems, employers hiring ilegallys, allowing then to stand on coners looking for work, doing nothing, let them proprest in the streets, doing nothing, let them file lawsuit case in our courts, doing nothing, healthcare system closing down, ect. ect. U.S. needs to rethink this problem.........
