- Can I get a Gastric bypass after a lap band
Sorry it took me so long to get back with you, been so busy like everyone else. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> You don’t have dumping or mal absorption with the sleeve. You would need to see what is good for you. I wanted to eat everything, not having to have blood work all the time so see if I was getting all the proper nutrition. I eat all of the food groups; sugar/starch will not cause me to dump thats the difference from the Gastric bypass. But I did love my Band! :tongue2:<o:p></o:p>- Can I get a Gastric bypass after a lap band
Yes, I had to do something after they remove my Band that I loved, I now have the sleeve and lost 100 more pounds on that in one years time, its better than the Gastric bypass. Stayed only one day in hospital, no pain great doctors in newport beach ca.- Hi from Louisiana
The weight lost you'll love, I love my band, when it needed to be removed I felt like I went through a death. Doctor had me wait six months to perform the sleeve. I have went through the same things with the sleeve as the band, if you don?t chew at least 30 time before swallowing and don?t drink slow you'll be throwing-up just like the band. If you don?t pick wise choices when eating you won?t losses the weight either. I have learned a lot through the classes, support groups before and after surgery. I still go to classes all the time to help reinforce what I know. I have learned that if you eat mushy, soft or Soups this wont help. You must eat food of substance, always Protein first, veggies, fruit then last carbs if you chose to. Congratulation on your twins, what a wonderful time for you, and then your off to a new you in Sept. :thumbup1:- 10 month post-op update
Wow what a great job, well done......... I'm ten month out, still hard some days and others just fine. You look great and happy!!!!!!!! :thumbup1:- Hi from Louisiana
Hi, I don?t think you should go out of the country either........... But lots of doctors have payment plans, or surgery companies that do payment plans, plus the hospital will negotiate the price with you just call them. I also negotiate the price with my doctors too. Doesn?t hurt to ask anything is possible. I had to paid cash for both the band and the sleeve. My bmi was too much for the band and the sleeve was not covered by my plan. I not sure if the sleeve is cover yet due to it being so new with insurance companies? You can write your insurance company ask them to take the sleeve to there board of directors and see if they will pay for it also. In ten months I have lost 86 pounds with the sleeve and 100 with the band in one year. It?s still hard with the sleeve, I through-up if I don?t chew at least 30 times, if I eat to fast or if I take to big of a drink too. Good luck keep us up to date. :thumbup1: My hospital was $ 4,500 two day stay Doctor $ 8,500.00- One more sleep to surgery!!
You go girl, you'll be fine??.. What a great decision you made, you are on your way to being a healthy person. I believe you wont have and problems with your surgery and no pain either, it easy as 123??.. Write and tell all of us how you are doing??- Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
Hi, I been so crazy, sorry I haven?t got back to you..... I don?t know what I was for my BMI then, but now it still said I'm obesity, " Don?t like that word" But now my weight is 196 as of today, I don?t remember ever being in the Hundreds........ My surgery was June 21, 2009 and I think I'm not loosing as fast as I read on this sleeve talk. I still have problems with my food too....... I do about 1200 calories a day for my height and weight to loose. I also work out three days with a personal trainer, boy do I hate it!- Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
You're doing great with you weight loss...... I had my surgery done also in June 2009, only lost 60 pounds. What are you eating? Please let me know, I want the weight to come off faster, working out three days a week with a trainer also. :tongue_smilie:- Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
okay, I had my surgery done in June of 2009 alos. I think I'm lactose since the surgery too...... Never like this before, or before my band either. Still finding food wont go down, not easy for we with the sleeve.- Which fat goes first?
I think if you are to measure yourself you'll see it comes off everywhere. I'm about three and half months also. The skin is hanging more, than sticking outwards. With working out I see a form starting to take place. :001_tt2:- Hi from Louisiana
Wow, what a wonderful gift...... Cant wait to hear your updates too..... Your on your way!:lol0:- Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
Hi Pam, I went to the website also, learned a lot more too. Keep me posted on what your going to do............ :redface1:- Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
Hi, Now that its been almost five months for you, do you find it easier to eat steak, chicken or ribs food of substance? Some days just a little for me other days can eat more. I think I'm going to journal to see what I have problems with. i can do soft foods, steam vegatbles and cheses. :tongue_smilie:- Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
I don't know about getting sick, but I have had diarrhea since the surgery, they don't know why? I got very dehydrated had to stay in the hospital for three days. The doctors told me not to eat dairy for a week and see what happens, haven't try it yet. Never been intolerance to dairy either, so I don't no the problem. Hows your weight loss going? I don't one anyone around me who has had this surgery as of yet, only the band or the gastric bypass. It's been very hard on me to eat things of substance, Protein first instead of soft and mushier foods, how about you?- Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
Well I think the band was great too, when they went back in to adjust my band the doctors couldn't, so they removed it, I was so upset, I felt like I went through a death, I didn?t want to gain any weight back. So I had to heal before doing something else, I chose the sleeve insurance didn?t pay, I paid 12,500.00 total. 4,500.00 to the doctors and 8,00.00 to the hospital. The surgery was great, walking the next day and went home that afternoon and back to work on Monday. The doctors were great! Had surgery June 22, 2009 lost 40 pounds, they say the first three months are the hardest and I agree. It?s not as easy as the band for me, but it works. I know there?s nothing inside of me, no appts to have fills, so far so good. I took six months for me to think about what I was going to do, the sleeve or the bypass, so just take your time and think it threw, I called a couple of patients from my doctors office to see how and what they though about there new sleeve. They had all good things to say. Maybe you can speak to some patients from your doctor?s office too. I know of one reason I picked the sleeve was there no absorption, no getting sick from eating high starch content or sugars, dumping. Good Luck in what ever you choose???. You?ll do great!!!- Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
Hi, I think your to tight, I know you probably don't want a little taken out of your band, but you should try it and see if you get better. I never had reflux before I was banded and when I had my fill that I thought was just right I started having the reflux at night when I laid down, trying sleeping up in bed, tried taking over the counter medicine, tried eating earlier, nothing worked. I ended up with a slip, went in couldn't be fix also with a herenia too......... Don't let this happen to you, I loved the band, the heart burn is not good for you. Are you eating food with substance?- Poll: How many have acid reflux problems?
Maybe your band might be to tight. I know from past experience I had reflux problems and I was taking the same over the counter medicine it help me a lot. My Band was to tight, I had a little fluid taken out and started eating protein first, solid food, food of substance then vegetables, fruit and starches last. I found I got fuller much faster and not eating late at night, my reflux problems went away.- Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
I think the way to go is the Band also........ But you know there are those 2% that just don't work out. The sleeve is still hard for me learning what will go down right now, I'm 2 1/2 months now the doctors said after three months it will be much better. I think staying on liquids and mushy food would be better for a little while longer after surgery. The weight comes off faster I think than the band. Recovery time was shorter like the band for me. If you need so info just let me know. :cursing:- Otay -- tell me about the sleeve
Hi, Had the band for about two years it slipped, went in to get it fix, couldn't had to be removed, I loved the band....... Lost 100 pounds with he band, its a great tool. So now I had the sleeve done June 22, 2009 lost 32 pound so far....... its been hard for me not as easy as the band but I'm learning. My doctor has only about 22 patients with the sleeve the rest are the banding and gastric bypass. I'm not long-term as of yet but I think it's better than the bypass, theres no dumping or absorption if you eat from the food groups. Good luck with decision:001_rolleyes:- Got approved today
Thats wonderful!!! You're on your way, you'll love it. Make sure you follow the doctors instructions. You'll be very happy with the Band.- Any Regrets After Lap Band?
I think it's the way to go. I had to have mine removed due to slippage, other wise I would still have it. I lost a hunderd pounds with the tool. Its great, must follow the diredtions of your doctor. You'll love it.- Can I get a Gastric bypass after a lap band
Hi<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p> Banded in Feb 07 also, had to have my band removed due to slipping in Dec 2008 down 85 pounds. Now June 2009 had a sleeve done, down 25 pounds more. The band was great until it slipped. If you go to classes and try not to eat high fatty foods, or soft mushy foods, the band will work once you get it filled where you fill full. Drink 3 quarts of Water a day will help also. <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" o:preferrelative="t" o:spt="75" coordsize="21600,21600"><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><v:path o:connecttype="rect" gradientshapeok="t" o:extrusionok="f"></v:path><o:lock aspectratio="t" v:ext="edit"></o:lock></v:shapetype><v:shape id=_x0000_i1025 style="WIDTH: 12pt; HEIGHT: 12pt" alt="0" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata o:href="http://www.lapbandtalk.com/images/smilies/default%20smilies/smile.gif" src="file:///C:DOCUME~1ChristieLOCALS~1Tempmsohtml101clip_image001.gif"></v:imagedata></v:shape><o:p></o:p> <o:p> </o:p> - Can I get a Gastric bypass after a lap band
