i'm sure you will follow all the "rules" that go along with the sleeve concerning moderation, drinking, et al. follow these rules until you reach your wonderful goal
after goal is the concern-gaining weight back
If you choose the "behavior" you choose the "consequences" Dr. Phil (love him )
IMO - as long as you continue with all your good choices, new lifestyle - your "consequences" - will be a continued wonderful, healthy, weight, lifestyle
your consequences will be different only "if" you choose not to follow the rules (could be easier said than done) but this is what we're all striving for, continueing our way of life that we started the DOS
no one wants to have gone through this major life saving surgery - only to repeat their/my past mistakes
now, concentrate on being successful on your path with the sleeve, today, tomorrow and always
only worry about tomorrow if today is failing (not sure if that makes sense ) oh well

My surgeon has a different opinion on this. She is fine with diet sodas after 6 to 8 weeks. They do recommend letting it sit over ice a little bit. But they say that it won't stretch out the stomach. The carbonation will try to leave ( if there is too much) the easy way. Stretching of the stomach is not the easiest way. It will come back up either thru burps or spitting up. They do recommend giving it up because the artificial sweetener in it can cause sugar cravings.

Hello, my name is Khloé and I'm new here. I'm having my consultation appointment with Dr. Nick Nicholson on Friday (February 1st, 2013) and am SOOOO excited! I've gone through the pre-op process before with another surgeon, only to lose my insurance and not end up with my surgery. I'm praying like crazy that this time I will get my surgery! The last surgeon I had kept trying to force me into having the DS, which is a fabulous surgery, but the malabsorbtion is super gnarly and not something that I want.
Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself. I'm so happy to start this journey, and am hoping and praying the next 6 months fly by!

Surgery day. Waiting to go back.

6 servings 88 cal. 4 fat. 3.3 carbs and 9.2 protein
Baked ricotta
8oz ricotta
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
1t. Italian seasoning
1lg egg
Salt and pepper
1/2 cup marinara sauce (I used 1/2 cup sun dried Tomato alfrado sauce
1/2 cup low fat mozzarella cheese
Mix ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, beaten egg, and seasonings together. Place in oven dish pour sauce over top then top with mozzarella cheese. Bake 450 for 20-25 min

From my limited experiences (I'm still pre-op), the only time I've seen it be denied is if one of the following happened: 1) Insurance doesn't cover this type of insurance, 2) BMI < 40 with no comorbities, 3) required diet (if one is required) hasn't been done (some plans require 6 months of a supervised diet), 4) some plans require so many years of being obese, 5) psych eval failed (this is purely up to the person doing the psych eval....though from what I've seen those who failed had to attend to a certain number of therapy sessions before the therapist said they would pass the psych eval).
I'm sure there are others that I'm missing. BUT if you have done all of those you will probably get approved by insurance.

You are an idiot to post this here. I don't have any problem wih people posting their stories (even ones with bad outcomes), but in no way shape or form is this kind of situation common. The opposite is true. So stop trying to scare people away from LIFE SAVING surgery with your story. It would have been fine if you had told the story and left it at that. But no, you have to punctuate it at the end with your moronic advice and how you would never have weight loss surgery. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx violation of forum rules. People die from having their wisdom teeth out- should they not have surgery to alleviate their pain?

I know what you are going thru. I got all of that with my mother as well and I'm having the surgery here in the states (i'm scheduling the actual surgery date at my appointment this thursday). Sorry she isn't supportive. I'm lucky that my husband fully supports my decision and that is all that matters.

Hey guys I'm new here (was on the lapband site for awhile until I decided on the sleeve). Just wanted to say that after 1 full year and 3 denials later, I finally got approved today! I'm just so excited! February 13th it is!! Can't wait

Ice Packs!!
There were many moments after surgery when I started to feel light headed and nauseous. Thankfully, I knew enough to ask for an ice pack and place it on the back of my neck. (learned this when I got light headed once giving blood) Worked like a charm and stopped me from being naus. (I did not want to throw up!!) I kept it with me at all times in the hospital and the first couple of days at home. It also helped me to soothe the Migraines I got from the morphine!
Just wanted to share that tip because it was a huge help to me.
If anyone else has some similar tips like this...please add them

I received a call from my Dr's office this morning saying that they finally got my approval! I scheduled my 2nd consulation for next Thursday. After that appointment I have to attend an information meeting that is required. While at my appointment I will schedule my surgery date! Woohoo!

Congrats!!! I can't wait till mine is approved. I have a 6 month diet requirement. But staying positive! Hope you get your date soon!!!!

Maybe they will be giving them a call soon. Keep your fingers crossed(or call and get them on their job ). But I am right behind you....It would be awesome if we both got the same date.....Hopefully I will be a Feb Sleever and on the losers bench!!!!!!! Goodluck

I got this as a gift from my boyfriend's sister. She is a very healthy eater herself. I had put it in the cabinet & recently couldn't find it. Turns out my bf had taken it & hidden it because he thought it was some Nutella like treat that I wasn't sharing. Boy was he disappointed when he found out what it really was. LOL. Anyway, I need to order a bunch before I run out. I am LOVING this stuff!
