You are ringing my bell, girl! My answer to your question? Just be you! I have no plans to change who I am, and people can like me or hate me. I care little to none.

I do think from your history of posts that you are a bit sensitive to feedback as are many people. I wan't involved in the thread you are speaking of being lectured in (I don't think!), but I do often feel that I have to tiptoe around or avoid the questions you do ask because I feel as if you don't get the feedback you are specifically looking for, you get a little defensive.
I have little to no filter and I give feedback based on MY experience only. If my experience doesn't apply to you, there is no need to take it personally. I may have the right answer for someone else or for no one else. Bottom line is, it's hard to read tone on a public message board so where you might hear lecturing, the poster might intend love and care.
    Just throwing that out there.

Ok, I was just trying to get a feel for your situation since you posted on here and thought you were wanting some honest feedback. But if you've already been sleeved, I suppose it's a moot point. If you lose a good bit of weight from the sleeve, you probably were taking in too many calories. If you don't lose weight, it's probably a metabolic issue. Or if you lose just a little weight, I'm guessing it could be some of both. No judging here or lecturing, just trying to get a grasp on your situation. I wish you the best of luck!

I'm calling shenanigans on the whole 3 docs said it would decrease life expectancy by specifically EIGHTEEN years! Why the hell would you have the surgery with doctors telling you that?
OP... good luck and please know that you can make it through this bump in the road! I highly suggest you talk to your doctor about getting on an antidepressant. Also, I am a night nurse and I have trouble sleeping day and night, try 1/4 to an 1/8 a tablet of unisom. It's enough to get you to sleep without making you drowsy or dehydrated. A good nights sleep may help with your depression.

It gets easier. sleep rhythms, like body temperature control, are thought to be impacted by the change in ghrelin production in the body. We have to remember that there is still so much about ghrelin that isn't known and some of the unusual changes we experience post VSG are ghrelin related rather than weight loss related.
It is a waste of energy to regret anything. There is no going back so my advice is to chose not to regret as this will only make you miserable. Instead choose to do the right thing by your body, take the Vitamins, eat well, live well and ride out the unsettled few months as you adjust to the new you. It does get easier but it will always be different to how you were before.
As for this 18 years nonsense, it is nonsense. I would like to know the names of the three doctors who supposedly said this.

Ugh, my husband tried pulling this once. I said "oh? You think I'm not doing anything?" So I went on strike. It took two nights of him making Cereal for dinner (he can't cook at ALL, like he doesn't even know how to make an egg) and washing his own clothes and he apologized. Maybe it was extreme, but he pissed me off!

5 months today - 58 lbs lost. Only 16 more to go! Like others, I bounce up and down a pound or two - for a week or two at a time, then lose 1 or 2 lbs. And then bounce around again. I just keep doing the program, exercising, drinking my Water. I'm sure I will reach goal, but it may take a little time.

Katie i'm so sorry you feel bummed out and discouraged, and physically not feeling great either
am i reading correctly that you lost 70 lbs pre-op????
    OMG thats great
as Arts correctly stated, 32 lbs in 6 weeks is wonderful
I'm afraid many many people here think that they are gonna have WLS on "friday" and wake up monday morning losing 100 lbs
    not gonna happen
but i think you really do know that - you, like everyone else, just want the weight gone yesterday!!!
    Water is very very important!!!!
not getting enough Water in, possibly being totally dehydrated??? sure you will feel weak!!!!
    gotta force the fluids
having blood pressure problems - meds off???
that will cause you to feel weak
IMO thats the issue that needs to be fixed
glad you have already seen a dr, hopefully he can figure out the prob
continue to be pro-active with the doc til he figures out what to do with your meds
tell him about the gas issues
by not feeling well, not eating or drinking - thats gonna make you feel weak!!!!!
gotta force yourself to eat and drink to help yourself
do everything very slowly - sipping - taking extra small bites - taking long breaks between forkfuls
you will mentally feel better as soon as the physical stuff gradually improves
then you won't feel down about your weight situation
please remember - you are doing great!!!!!
just losing another 2 lb - holy moly girlfriend - you are on the right road to success!!!!
    take care
    feel better
    good luck
    kathy

Well we need the experts to weigh in. I just want to say that your mind is playing tricks on you. 32# in 6 weeks is over 5# a week! WOW! Try picking up 6 5# bags of suger!!!
Please don't you dare give up! And don't let your mind trick you towards "the easy way out".
    Hang in there, friend!

What ^^ he said. Just keep trying. My doctor said that sometimes exercise is easier if you break it up. So walk for ten minutes three times a day. Even if you have to work up to walking that long, any walking is better than no walking. It'll also help with the gas you're feeling. And not having the weight just fall off of you gives your skin time to get used to your new shape. The slower you lose, the less extra skin you'll have to worry about. Keep in contact with your doctor's office. Maybe they can hook you up to a bag of IV fluids...or two...to help you get to feeling better. Being dehydrated can definitely make you feel week and nauseated. Also try eating sugar free Popsicles. It's not like drinking Water, but it's considered a hydrating Fluid (at my doctor's office it is). In the beginning when I was having issues getting my Water in, I was eating a box of popsicles a day. Maybe not the best thing, but it was helping me to get fluids in and made me think I was eating something. I wish there was something I could say to make things easier...just keep trucking. You'll get there.

    Oliver's Mom reacted to DEZ1975 in 15 LBS FROM GOAL/SLOWER LOSER/NEW BOOBS!
Hi Everyone! Just wanted to check back in at 9 months post op to say life is FABULOUS! I had my sleeve in Aug 2012 and had a complication free experience. Aside from occasional nausea, I haven't experienced any real negative side effects. I work out 5 times a week with weights and cardio. I had a breast reduction and lift on Friday and I can't believe how amazing I feel. I started my journey at 5'6" 235 lbs. I'm now 160, with a goal weight of 145. I've attached updated pics, although they are pre breast reduction. So, now I look and feel slimmer. Anyhow, just wanted to share a positive, complication free experience. Dr. Mueller in San Diego is excellent! Good luck everyone! Oh and take your vitamins!!

after awhile, the sleeve will allow you to eat most anything. however, it's your body that's in the background saying, "i need Protein...i need my Vitamins...i need nutrition." slider foods like fries, chips, etc., are easy to consume in quantities because they are easy to chew; however, you'll eventually become full and the sleeve will let you know, one way or the other. then your body will say, "hello....thought i was getting some protein....."
seriously, the sleeve manages quantity not quality. personally, i think its ok to have fries and pizza, just in moderation. they are yummy. just remember that nutrition and healthy foods come first in order to support your physical and mental strength.

You are psychic girl! I just cleaned out my closet (for the 4th time since surgery - had a wide variety of sizes in there) and the bags are in the back of the car to bring to Salvation Army tomorrow!!
We're all working hard to lose the weight - wearing old baggy clothes not only makes us feel schlumpy - we look bigger than we are in them.

Oliver's Mom reacted to LI Gemini NY in Preventive measures: Angelina Jolie versus me
So we all heard, she removed her boobies (and planning on removing her ovaries) because she's high risk for breast and ovarian cancer. I think it's absolutely brilliant, my grandma and my mom both suffer from breast cancer, my grandma is doing well, my mom on the other hand not so much. The cancer has spread to her bones, she's constantly in pain, her bones always break doing simple things like tying her shoelaces. It's crazy, she's had radiation daily, chemo 2 or 3x per week and all sorts of other doctors appointments. Also she has lost her vision as a side effect of one of her meds. So yes, I applaud Angelina Jolie for avoiding a life like my mom's. Who in the right mind would want to go through this if it could be prevented?!?
So here I am, I want to have 80% of my stomach removed because I am at a high risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity related cancers and about a cazillion other things.
What makes Angelina Jolie better than me? We both wants to lower our risks for diseases.....why is society praising her and criticizing us? Yes, I can lose weight and yes she can overcome cancer, what the hell is the difference?
    Oye!!

Happy Mother's Day to all!! My kids are grown (34 & 31) but I am hoping that someday there will be grandkids and I will be able to run & play with them. I am hoping that I'll be able to 'help out' by taking care of any grandkids a few days a week so my kids (that includes my children's spouses) can work without the concern of paying for daycare at least 2-3 days a week.
It's soooooo much easier to get on the floor and get back up again since I've lost weight.
enjoy the day everyone - every day actually!!
