Did I do something wrong?
Hi vsg friends... I hope you all can help me with this. A couple of days ago I lifted some cases of Water. Maybe an hour later I had some slight pain on my left side. I still have the right pain which is getting better. I'm just wondering if I need to be worrying about this. I'm almost a month post op and I was told by my dr. No heavy lifting for two weeks. The cases of water are only a little heavier than my two year old daughter. What exactly can happen if you lift something too heavy? Do you think I should be worried?

One year ago today.
you look very happy!

Typical daily menu
almost a month post op. I always start my breakfast with a premier protein shake (one of my pre-op issues was skipping meals especially breakast). snack is usually some cheese. lunch is either chili, stew, or fish. dinner is the same as lunch. But myfitnesspal is awesome for viewing other people's diarys. I wish everyone set their settings to allow their friends to view their diarys because it is very helpful to look at those losing weight how many calories, protein, carbs and what they are eating.

Difficulty consuming food/calories-suggestions? 2.5 months p/o
Wow. funny. I've been kind of sort of wondering the same thing. I was sleeved 01/30/13. Some days I can eat 600 calories and some days (like yesterday) it takes me forever to drink a protein shake. Yesterday I barely got in 300 calories. I do notice that I can eat more on the days I exercise. I also read on here somewhere that drinking while eating (which I know we are not supposed to do) helps digest the food in our stomach faster so we can eat more. I haven't drank with my meals, but there have been times when I didn't leave 30 minutes before and after and I definitely noticed I could eat more. It is really weird. I just started on soft foods...so that might be the reason why I ate a whole lot less yesterday. I don't know if this is normal, but if it bothers you then definitely talk to your doctor. I have an appointment on March 4th and will bring this up. Keep me posted please!

Chilli, what kind?
whoops I forgot to say I added ground turkey this time...to up the protein.

Chilli, what kind?
I make my own too. I get the fantastic food brand...vegetarian chili (I am not a vegetarian, but used to be)...and I follow the directions...but I soften bell peppers, onions, zucchini, and squash in a frying pan with some evol. I then put everything in my crock put and let it sit for a couple of hours...delicious.

Oh no... Getting Sleeved while on my period
That Sucks!!!! As for the pain from cramps...you will be nicely dosed with morphine (at least I was) and then you get liquid vicodin. As for the sanitary reasons...I wouldn't worry about that...I mean these people are supposed to be medical professionals I think they have seen it all...and something like menstruation is probably easily handled for them. But that still Sucks! I'm sorry it worked out that way.

Puree suggestions
There are a lot of threads on here for pureed foods. Today is my last day on purees. I ate pureed beef stew, vegetarian chili, regular chili, chicken salad, cheese and broccoli soup, yogurt...and that was the extent of it. I never got more creative than that because I had soooo much leftovers from the stew and chili I made.

Question for those who have already lost a lot of weight.
I really just want to know for those of you who had this problem... You know the line that develops from a fat roll overhanging over another area...does it go away when you lose weight? I just noticed today that I have it under my back fat roll (I've never noticed it before), but it is very distinct. If you have had it, then you know what I'm talking about.

NSV'S
I am feeling better about things. I am thinking I might actually revise my one day a week weigh ins...to only stepping on the scale when I go to the doctor. I've been thinking about it and I have been doing everything I have been told. When it is a month from now and still no weight loss..then I will worry. I don't want to obsess over the scale...so I think I am just going to FREE myself from that which binds me...THE SCALE...and just focus on working out, and eating right. Joatsaint...yes it feels amazing...I can't wait until I have to pull out a smaller size...soon...soon.

NSV'S
So my pound loss hasn't been that speedy as I've mentioned in my other posts, but I still have much to be grateful for. My pants are much looser...which feels good. I have more energy, and I am able to do more cardio in a day. I've also noticed that my belly is finally smaller than my boobs!!! I haven't seen this happen in almost 3 years! Today I took my measurements in hopes of having a comparison for the future during my weight loss stalls. I am still excited about my new journey and I am still happy about my decision.

Use Your First Six Months Wisely
Workout for four hours? And eat nothing??? That doesn't sound healthy to me. And it doesn't sound like a life style change...which what I'm in for.

Freaking Frustrated
wow...12 months. That is amazing. I can understand why you would do that. It is stressful and I should eliminate as much stress as I can because stress leads to weight gain! I think I just obsess about the numbers. I guess I just want to know that going through all of this wasn't for nothing. If you didn't weigh yourself weekly, then how did you figure out how many carbs, protein, calories etc. you needed for your optimal weight loss? If you have any advice, then please share. Calories during the first month? protein? carbs? Thanks in advance.

Freaking Frustrated
Hey girlie! I believe we both got sleeved on the same day. Are you doing myfitnesspal also? If you are friend me...Lanip00h...the o's are zeros. Seems like we are in the same boat...have you taken your measurements? I can feel my clothes getting looser, but no real numbers.

I'M SICK AND I'M HAVING SURGERY IN 7 DAYS! HELP!
I was sick too. I asked the anesthesiologist on day of surgery and he said I was good to go if I didn't have a fever.

vegetarian puree foods
I just made vegetarian chili. I use the fantastic food mix...but I first take chopped up onions, peppers, squash, and zucchini...throw em in a frying pan with some e.v.o.l. to brown and soften. then I put it in my crock pot for a couple of hours. Sometimes I will add some greek yogurt to it for a creamier taste. I have found myself adding greek yogurt to pretty much everything.

Thanks for the info! It's good to hear (over and over and over again) that stalls are normal.

NO energy at 1 month post op
I'm not quite at 1 month yet, but my nutritionist and nurse say this is the norm. They say people usually complain about fatigue about a month out. Supposedly, this time is the worst so good news it will get better!

Freaking Frustrated
So, as the title suggests, I am totally freaking frustrated!!! I am almost 3 weeks post op. The first week went well...I lost 10 pounds. Then I hit a stall for about a week and then a couple of days ago the scale started moving down again. I was feeling happy that I had ended my first stall and then bam I gained 2 pounds! I mean I am doing everything that I am supposed to. I use myfitnesspal religiously. I use my fit bit. I have been exercising more now than in the past year. I eat right and drink right. Intellectually, I understand what happens when we stall or gain weight for that matter when our bodies are in the process of losing weight. I've read many articles about converting glycogen, how I might be losing size and not weight, how getting smaller doesn't translate into the scale moving downward. Intellectually and logically I understand and I get it, but emotionally it is too much. So since my life is about moderation and restriction now...I've decided to put the scale away and only weight once a week on Thursday mornings. I found an old tape measure and will also begin taking my measurements. Oh how I wish I took my measurements before hand...it might have saved me some heart ache. Well that was in the past and now....MOVING ON. I am still on my pureed stage which is going perfectly well. Yesterday was a good day. I actually got 600 calories in, which is amazing for me! I do think I need to get more calories and carbs in everyday. It seems kind of low. ON A SPECIAL NOTE. I URGE ANYONE THAT IS PRE-OP OR JUST BEGINNING TO TAKE BEFORE PICTURES. I KNOW IT IS DIFFICULT TO SEE YOURSELF ON A PHOTO, BUT DO IT!!! ALSO, TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS SO WHEN YOU HIT THOSE STALLS YOU CAN AT LEAST GET SOME PEACE OF MIND BY MEASURING YOURSELF. I TOOK BEFORE PHOTOS (WHICH I HAVEN'T POSTED YET BECAUSE I WANT A COMPARISON PHOTO), BUT I SOOOOOO WISH I HAD TAKEN MY MEASUREMENTS. IT WILL BE HARD TO FACE THOSE NUMBERS, BUT WHEN YOU ARE LOSING YOU WILL BE SOOOOO HAPPY YOU DID.
