  1. You can do it - take the words hope and maybe out of your vocabulary and replace them with I WILL...
  2. Thanks Jeepman!!! That's why when I got to goal in 5/08 - I posted on the Beginners thread - I want pple to know that it's doable.. Best to you on your jounery - it may be long but let me tell you it's so worth it.. I did this for me - cuz I want to be around to see my Grandkids grow up!!
  3. Liz - My Dad use to live in Hackensack :0) He's from NY & NJ.. I read your profile - I can tell you this is the best thing I have ever done for me... I was 52 when banded and as you know we have less years in front of us than what are behind us... I have 3 grandkids that I want to see grow up - GS is 18 -and 2 GD 14 - 5 and for me having major sugery was my ah ha moment My weight (250) was limiting the quality of my life - 2/07 went on a cruise could barely walk from one end of the ship to the other without being exhausted.. Well 3/09 went on another cruise - this time I took the stairs - hit they gym and went Zip-lining & Repelling and even had a few treats & drinks - I had more energy than my 18 yrs GS.. I feel 10 yrs younger, have tons more energy and the quality of my life has improved ten fold.. It's great to go into a regular store - and pick a pair of size 4 pants and know they are going to fit (was 18/20) Just know that it's not the magic cure all to our issues with food - it takes work - it take will power - but once you have proper restriction it does help - but it doesn't mean it's easy. It's all about eating healthy and exercising and with the band you are full on a smaller amount of food... But know that that new full is diff than our thanksgiving full - and that you will be physically full and still want to eat - but you can't.. They are banding our tummies - when really they need to band our heads cuz that's were our problems really are.. Good Luck to you on your Journey... Mine was great - don't know why I wasted so many year tell myself I was ok fat - I wasted alot of time being fat.. But now I am healthy and enjoying life
  4. Well in looking closer tonite there is another one that was the size of Lucky - its really hard to tell cuz they are squirming so much When they (kittens) woke me up at 3;15 I looked under the bed - she was with 3 of them - and I notice this thing away from her (could have been the 1st born) so I woke Andrew up to help me - he got on the other side of the bed and got the kitten (with a rag) and immediately gave it to me - and I broke the bag and started cleaning it off with a damp washcloth - it was barely breathing - I thought it was about dead - then Sheba pops out another kitten - I was about to tell Andrew that the kitten was dead and wasn't going to make it But I remember one time before when my old cat had kittens I thought one was dead - threw it in the trash and the next day when I go out side I hear a kitten crying in the trash can - it wasn't dead after all... So I just kept blowing air in it's face and rubbhing it's chest... Glad you had a great time w/the GrandKids - Brooke's 1st day of school was Monday -(kindergarten) she was suppose to start last Monday but got a BAD BAD stomach bug - coming out both ends - had to go to ER twice... No I don't think they have spies - I think you could go for a ride when you felt like it - but will Earl let you out of the house :0) I love oysters on the half shell (raw) but I have to have cocktail sauce - not plain .... Sounds like you have had a great time these last few days...
  5. Hi Drasan It's up to yo on how much weight you lose not the bands. I lost 100% of my excess weight in 1 yr. I did the work by changing my eating habits and exercisings I hated those statistics - But again food is our drug of choice and what are the statistics on drug addicts not relapsing I eat healthy now and go to the gym - not high fat - sugar and no physically activity like I did 2 yrs ago.. The reason that bypass pple lose weight faster is that their bodies don't absorb the calories from their foods due to the rerouting of their intestines... Bander absorb every calorie that the put in their mouth... The reason that bypass pple quit losing after a time is that their intestine adapt to the surgery and start absorbing calories again.. So if a bypass person doesn't change their eating habits they are going to start regaining the weight back.. Just like a bander can eat around their band even when they are at their sweet spot (perfect restriction) I'm at my sweet spot and have been since 1/08 - I could choose to eat candy bars all day long - they are a slider food (slide right thru the band) I could drink milk shakes all day too - but if I chose not to do those things. I wouldn't have lost the weight if I had and If I went back to eating high fat high sugar and not exercising I could gain my weight back too.. Any weight loss surgery is just a tool - none of it is the magic cure all to our issues with food. To lose the weight and keep it off you have to change your eating habits - you have to exercise - It's not about dieting cuz they don't work cuz when you go back to eating normal you gain the weight back - Our normal eating is what got us fat in the first place. So don't pay attention to those statistic - I know a lot of pple here on LBT who have lost 100% of their excess with the band and they have done it in 1 yr - again how much you lose is up to you - not the surgery... Good luck on your journey.....
  6. No Jason there are now rules - I don't know why pple apoligize for long post - there's no rule about that and some time it takes alot of words to express yourself - so don't worry about that - hell I will post books sometimes if I am on a roll... Congrats on your weight loss - and I see you have decided against being banded.. For most of us here we have all lost the weight before - the problem is that we all end up going back to eating normal as we have been on diets... Well diets don't work and eating normal for us is what got us fat in the first place... The band is only a tool - it in itself doesn't make you lose weight - it just gives your restriction to control your portion sizes - but you are the one who makes the food choices.. I always say that I have done 75% of the work by changing my eating habits - I eat healthy I am not dieting - I would say I eat a modified atkins - I have carbs/starches - but in limited quantities and I eat basically sf - and hit the gym 4 days a week and the band did the other 25%.. The band is in place so that hopefully you will have it forever and won't have to worry so much about gaining the weight back - Would I be able to keep my weight off if I lost my band - I think so - cuz I think I have had my ah ha moment - but who knows - restriction is a good thing sometimes - but I could eat around it 24/7 if I wanted by eating sweets and ice cream.. Good Luck on your journey !!!
  7. My Doc sells them too - but he's 20 miles away - so I buy mine from Bariatric Choice bariatricchoice.com I got some great cookies that have 15 grms pt for 160 calories and they are hugh (the size of a mayo jar lid and thick & soft) I got the peanut butter - I like them - I ordered the chocolate after reading the reviews they are made by proti and I got some protein bars - double peanut butter - 150 calories 15 grms of pt and to die for... I keep them at work and use them for breakfast or pre-workout snack - cuz it seems I have more control during the day than at nite - If I had them at home I would most likely eat more than 1 - but this morning could only eat 1/2 of the cookie - but had a little stress and that makes my band tight.. I like the watermelon multi vit - and the cinninmom calcium and sublingal b12 .. I didn't care for the lemon much either - infact I still have some in a drawer somewhere...
  8. Karla - OMG I am so sorry - tell her to call her Dad !!!! Take the tires off and the battery out and keep them - or put them on craigslist since they are brand new... I guess it's just you and me :0) - Candice is out rving - Steph is dealing with family issues - Phyl - what's your excuse :0), - Linda is back at work or getting ready to go - Denise well she only post once a week or so - Kari in Florida - Karri is doing school too. Dinner is going to be stuffed bell peppers with lean sweet italitan sauage meat & rice - corn & 2% cheese and tomato bisque soup... Went to lunch with Andrew - he is all alone in the office cuz his mom is on vacation and since he can't drive - can't eat. Yesterday he was starving by the time I picked him up - we drove the micky D before we came home.. So today he had 4 tacos and I ordered a taco salad - but I was tight this morning - tried to eat one of those protein peanut butter cookies for bf (160 calories 15 grm pt) but could only eat 1/2.. The taco salad - didn't even eat all the meat - but was able to finish the other half of the cookies this afternoon - so my calories for the day 160 + 150 = 310 - We had to go to Walgreens after work - I picked up a candy bar - 230 calories - put it down then saw some cocunt m&m's - 210 calories - put those down - So a big pat on my back  Sheba and kittens doing fine -she ran out as soon as we got home - wanted food - we went and ck'd on the babies they all are fine - but now can't tell which one is the one I saved. They all look alike - just like Sheba... Well - just cking in - will cbl
  9. What are your doctor's instructions??? Each are diff and just cuz mine had me on mushies at that stage (I had to do 10 days each stage full liquids - mushies - soft - regular) so by 21 days out I was moving to mushies.. Refried Beans (fat free with a little 2% cheese) And at the end of my full liquids I was eating about 1 cup of soups. Are you getting 60 grms of Protein in daily??? Or I should say what are your doc's instruction on protein - but I would say that most want you to get 60 grms a day - and on the 1st 3 phase I had to incoporate clear Protein drinks (like crystal lite but with protein - ck out Bariatric Choice - they have the clear protein drinks - 70 calories and 15 grms pt...
  10. Thanks - I originally posted this on 5/8/08 the day I got to my original goal of 160 - by 7/14/08 I had lost 105 lbs and and by 10/08 I lost another 7 lbs - 7/17/09 was my 2 yr anniversary - and I am still 138 The band does work if you do the work that goes with it... Good Luck to you All
  11. HE MADE IT !!!! (I think it's a he - looks like tiny balls by his butt) We checked on them before we left for work and all 5 were moving and breathing - Just call me the Cat Whisperer ) - Cat's name will be Lucky !!!! I put the child gate up so that only Sheba can get thru the opening - she was out in the kitchen eating when we left - Andrew said that bear was in there and Sheba was ok - Bear is very maternal... She's ok with the dogs so far.. Well whom ever doesn't get a cat - Andrew has a few pple who want a kitten - the others are going to the no kill shelter and Sheba will be fixed in 2 weeks.... Well just wanted you all to know that cpr works on animals too !!! Pushed his chest with my finger and blew into his mouth and nose :0) just like to do with a baby.. That's the 1st time I have preformed CPR
  12. Mel Those are the things you have to do and it's normal to be hunger in about 3 - 4 hours after a meal - My doc says 3 healthy meals and 2 healthy Snacks. I find distraction - keeping busy very important - as boredom was/is a big big food trigger for me - It' one reason LBT has become my transfer addiction - you can't eat as you type :0)
  13. Yep just goes to show you that if a 52 yrs old woman can do it there is nothing that can stop a young one (29) from being successful too.. 1st thing to understand is that this isn't a diet - it's really about a lifestyle change in our eating.. Exercise - I am big on that - I started out slow and just worked my way up - and it's so much easier now.. I am glad that you are doing it at this age and not waiting - I think to myself why did I waste so many years being fat - You will see how much the quality of your life improves after you lose the weight Hugs Janet
  14. Good Morning Gang... As of 3:15 a.m. this morning I am the proud Great Grandma to 5 kittens (don't think one is going to make it ) I have been giving it cpr - it was all alone under my bed (this is where Sheba had her kitten - I woke up hearing kitten cries) It was still in the sack and it's the biggest one it's breathing but that's about it - and the cutiest little runt that's strong !! They all are red tabbies like Mom - so I guess the bastard that took advantage of my under age kitten and got her pg was the other red tabby that I had seen around the house and not the white one. Went to bed about 10 - another no sleep nite - I helpped clean them up - they are all now in the box feeding - but Sheba's so furry it's hard to find her tits.. So here I sit drinking my french press coffee (need the extra caffine again today) another nite of not much sleep. Ok need advice - I was young and don't remember how I took care of Jasmine my other cat who had kittens a long long time ago - should I put food and water and the kitty litter box in the spare room where we have them right now.. I don't think the dogs will bother them but both Andrew and I have work today... Anyone know ??? Karla - Great score - it was meant to be - see good things do happen!!! I won't eat veal after I saw a 60 mintues thing on how they treat the calfs when I was like 20 - but lamb I eat - I grew up on it we had it every Easter. My dad kidded me that I really ate mutton - I use to buy new new zeland spring lamb (it must have been really cheap cuz this was when I was llike 18 - cooked it and my whole apt complex smelled of lamb (mutton) But to me if you are going to eat something like that it out to taste like lamb not beef - so I like it gamey - but these were lamb shoulder something - they were good. Well just had to report to my Family - You guys are the first ones I think about telling my life stuff to... Isn't that bizarre. Oh Phyl I didn't put the xmas blanket in Sheba's box but another red blanket - you remember how I told you Sheba loves red - she suckles & claws it - Well it's 5:18 now need more coffee - So I will ck in later. Steph - How are you doing??? Are things a little better today.. I am so happy that Michael & the family is going to get the help that you all need.. Karla - Yes our Karri is ocd - really another word for it but she is totally focused and a total perfectionist - but when she was here for her visit in July - She did get to relax and last night on facebook I read where she had a great workout - so she is taking care of herself some.. I told her to come and report in on our new thread...
  15. I was 52 when I was banded 7/07 - I am now 54 and 112 lbs lighter - feel 10 yrs younger - have tons of energy - the quality of my life has improved 10 fold... It's the best thing I have ever done - Don't know why I waited so long... Good Luck on your Journey..
  16. My 1st fill was either 6 or 8 weeks out - I can't remember but I think most doc do them during that time. Some do it earlier but your band is still healing and imho not a good idea.. You are in bandster hell - the time before your 1st fill My band didn't take away my hunger - it keeps me full on a smaller amount of food and most of our hunger is more head than physical - I can be physically full right now (and I am at my sweet spot) and I still want to eat - and it (head hunger) for me manifest it's self into what I think is physical hunger.. Just eat healthy - if you are starving have extra serving of veggies - this isn't about dieting but changing your eating habits and try and get some physical activity in.. You can do this - you didn't have major surgery to continue to eat unhealthy - Our band is only a tool - it doesn't make our food choices - We do - and even with the band it takes will power to make these changes... You can do it - Like I said have an extra sf fudgesicle - or pudding - low fat string cheese - a piece of fruit - or a little more meat at your meal time or extra veggies.. Good Luck...
  17. I knew what you meant :0)
  18. Well back from the gym - good arm work out !!! Dinner - lamb - roasted carrots and red potatoes - had it last night - it was good... To early to go to sleep - couldn't if I tried - I'm wired right now.. Well, no one's around - so I guess I will go feed the dogs and start my new book.. CBL
  19. Hi Marla - who are you speaking to - I lost 112 lbs - lost the 1st 105 in 1 yr and then the other 7 by September.. Hi Jen - I'm in Indio - as you can guess by my name... This thread really don't get much action... What's your date or do you have one yet
  20. Good Afternoon Gang !!!! I dislike teenagers very much right now - and guess who I am disliking - GS came home at 2:30 - dogs bark and then I can't go back to sleep !!!! I maybe napped a bit but gave up at 4 and colored my hair - then had huge fight prior to going to work - he says he's moving out - well right now I hope so.. Yep GF I am a jail bird - go back and read it's pretty funny now - then it wasn't.. Glad to hear that things are at least going in the right direction with Michael.. Will continue prayers and hugs and being here for you... Karla - Excellent advice - I have a GF who is just like this - she keeps blaming herself for how her kids have turned out and that they are not who she wants them to be... I told her this morning she needs some counselling as she was a good mother (but just like most of us gave too much to them) they are adults and make their own choices and that's on them not her.. I Karla - I saw on FB that her & DH were at the beach last weekend - I haven't gotten any emails lately - she has a big vitiman defency - due to adrenal gland failure - the doc said it was due to her rapid weight loss - but when I googled it I read that it was mainly caused by stress - and we know our girl stresses :0) Thyroid issues too have something to do with it - don''t remember all the specifics - but she is on tons of vit and is feeling better - I bet it's the b12 shots :0) Well just cking in !!!! I have gym tonite - that's if I make it... Right now I am still wired from all the coffee

  22. Phyl - That's a great picture - yep prior to my dog ticket I was the only person in my family never to have gone to jail (between bro's & sister) and it was fact I was very proud of.. I am the joke of the family - about that dog ticket - and ya it was a good story now - but that cop pissed me off hand cuffed me - tightly - had red wrist for a few hours after wards... You may be stressed - or flu - either way - don't try and eat - I think you need to go on full liquids - and if it doesn't stop go to the doctor... Karla - there was nothing wrong with your sandwich - you are suppose to eat foods to make you full on a smaller about - 1/2 sandwhich is a reasonable about and cal were fantastic - I had salad w/lunch meat ck - onion and avacado and then a piece of watermelon - should have been full - but wasn't - had a hand full of peanuts which did satisfy me.. I have sandwiches every now and then - Well back to work
  23. Good Morning Gang Yep I am all unpacked and nested. But this morning I forgot my new pictures that I was going to bring... Today will be my 1st real day over here - the biggest problem is that my back is to the door way (openning I have no door) so anyone walking in can see what's on my screen  - but luckly I will hear most coming so should leave me enough time to click my work screen At my other desk anyone walking in couldn't see my screen so I was lucky there.. Karla - No leash laws - omg I got a ticket years ago (20 at least) for my little muffin - I ignored it - then one Saturday morning after an all night party on our way to eat mexican - I california stopped a stop sign (ran it)- there sat a cop - he pulled me over - ran my name had a warrent for my arrest for the stupid dog ticket - guess what he did - he hauled my ass to jail - Yes ladies I am a jail bird . I looked like a damn hooker I had on one of those strapless smock dresses a pair of mules (heels) and my hair was long and blond and very wild - we had just woke up and on our way to eat - All the cops in the Sheriff station were laughing on why the cop had brought me in for - My gf went and got my bail $82 and had me bailed out by the time they finished booking me - and then the stupid cop - said I was lucky I got him and not some asshole - well I held my tongue - he could have told me to take care of the ticket on monday - he didn't have to haul my ass into jail.. Just keep sticking to your healthy eating you are going to drop 3 lbs in one week.. You fish sounds good - Phly 1 week from today is your surgery... I bet you are excited.. How was Earl's hike - Hiking just doesn't appeal to me - 6 hours hell no 1 to 1.5 hrs is my max at exercising. Yes we all want to know what you cooked Candice - touch up already ?? Have you figured out where you are going on your maiden voyage?? How's your mom - only 2 months til wedding - what's the date. Steph - the place where Michael is should be able to help you I would think - continued hugs - prayer and love - we are here for you... Linda - Just go to work - do what you have to come home and let it go - that's what I am doing... Denise - Shout out to you - hugs & prayer on Mom. Kari - Hope you are enjoying the time w/Mom Karri - I guess we have to go to FB to talk to you - I saw where you guys were at the beach. Did you have fun.. Well I need to ck other thread and get my butt in gear before everyone gets here. Hugs :hurray:
  24. Hey Gang - I am alive and well - Saturday Gym - met gf for bf - took Andrew to the mall to get his hair cut - I went to Macy's - A few months back I tried on this Ralph Lauren dress - loved it - but then looked at the price tag $176 Just a regular summer dress - So it went back - even though it looked really good on me.. Well they were having a sale & I had a 20% coupon Guess what I got the dress for !!! $44 !!! Yep that's right a 176 dress for 44 !!! Then nails then drinks & concert - Yesterday slept til 9:30 !!! Then another GF came over at noon and stayed til 3 - Work today - had to unpack and set up my new work space and that took all morning. Food good - no more junk !!! Had gym tonite and then had to go food shopping since I didn't this weekend... Ya could have been the chocolate or the whole Andrew rummaging thru the house - After I got back from bf on Sat morning - I told him to call Goodyear and see if he left them there on Thrusday... Sure enough that's where they were.... Gf -I know just how you feel - a gf at work asked if I was down as I wasn't my usual self - I'm ok - still trying to adjust to my new work station and I was tired... Didn't sleep well last night. For the reason you stated - I feel that's why alot of us over eat - I know it was for me - It's what I could do for me to comfort me cuz I was always taking care of everyone else.. I didn't have the perfect sibling sistuation as you have - but I always felt that my brothers had it a lot easier than me growing up - they lived on ranch property didn't have mortgage or bills - where I was the struggling (somewhat my dad did help) single mom - But when it was all said and done I know my Dad was proud of me and how responsible I was - So I'm lucky in that - Hell I'm the only one left - of my blood brothers mother & father.. So I don't have that stuff anymore - just the loss of them... Hugs - We understand - We are here for you... Nope Candice Did the penance on Saturday:0) Well birth order - I am the eldest of the children from my parents marriage - but my Sister is 7 yrs older but we have diff Dads and she didn't come to live with us until she was a Freshman.. And yes I know I am blessed and that these little problems are really nothing to complain about ... But it was bugging me that I was so bummed about nothing.. I'm with Linda - I am sick of responsibility - I have been responsibility since I was 16 - (well most of the time ;0) Karla - yep the battery issue was contagious - my gf candy who picked me up from the shop and took be back to work Friday - called friday nite to tell me - that while she was out and about Friday afternoon - her battery died on her too.. Are you actually logging every bite that goes into your mouth or are you guesstimating - and it could be that you body is catching up with alll the weight you have lost - just keep plugging along and it will come off Awe Steph GF Hugs !!!! Ya sometime life is nothing but the shits!!! Hugs & prayers that things smooth out real soon.. Come and vent - it does help to do that I know last week with my minor crap - I felt better after I typed it all out.. Well gang I wanted to post so that you knew I was alive - it's 8 and I gotta figure out what to fix for dinner and make my salad for the week.. Hugs & Love & Prayer to all of you ---- J
  25. Thanks Linda - I THREW THE ROCKY ROAD AWAY !!! But did eat the cake batter w/choc marble icing - it was ok - but as usually when I start eating sweets don't stop - ate the whole pint (to me that's still a serving size lol) So calories for the day about 1800 - so not that bad... Up at 5:30 - got 2 new bracelets from QVC - love them - Steel by Design - one in silver and other 18k gold clad - love them so today has started well... Good thing I went and ck'd the mail at 6 this a.m. :0) I got some sub lingual b12 from Bariatic Choice along with my other vitamins - they may have been the part of the reason I didn't sleep well last night - besides Andrew turning the house upside down looking for his keys... He had them Thursday.. Well need to get dressed for the gym - Must go want to clean instead but I gotta go to the gym - especially after yesterday :0)
