You need to have your stomach empty to fit all the Protein in that you can. If you eat and drink you'll get less food in. You don't have to drink 30 minutes before and after they don't want you to drink within 30 minutes before and after.

I don't like judgmental behavior, and I hate to be a hypocrite, BUT I think in this situation I may wind up having to judging a book by its cover. If its cover is nice and plump and appears to be genuinely interested to know my secret, I think I will tell them how I and maybe how they too can lose the weight. BUT if the cover is all slim and trim and appears to be just nosey, then they will most definitely be getting a different response.

I have been using them during my pre op and now post op diets. They are not bad, but not the best tasing sometimes. I sometimes use a drop of almond extract in the chocolate or banana extract in either vanilla or chocolate to change them up a little. 1 scoop of vanilla, 1 scoop of chocolate, 1 sweet and low. 4 ice cubes and 1 drop of coffee extract is pretty good too.

I'm the oddball. Mine have managed to get a little perkier- they are still huge (36G). I still need a lift, but I will have implants done at that same time. I really think this is one of those genetics things- it depends on how your family is and if the girls are a side effect of weight gain or just a matter of genes. Every single woman on both sides of my family (my mom excluded because she had a double mastectomy)- is at least a DDD. It doesn't matter if you're a size 0 or 26 in my family.

TwinsMama reacted to Richard Foor in I'm afraid that psych eval will deny me
Based on what she is asking for it sounds like she might just be making sure to have the proper documentation that your previous issues were successfully handled. It is probably just a way to make sure the insurance company doesn't flag you for your history. So just get the reports she asked for and work with her to get the approval. The people that do these exams don't want you to fail they just want to make sure you are properly equipped to handle what is coming post op. Good luck.

Just be ready to talk to her from her perspective. Do be open to the idea that you may need more preparation, it just happens sometimes.
I think, from what I have read - not here but in articles from doctors in determining these things - they are looking for not an additcion per se since it is pretty much assumed you have an eating addition or issues to one extent or another, but they are looking for addiction histories that show gateway addictions progressing, or a transfer addiction, etc. If so they will want to look at that further with you, so it does not happen again once you can no longer eat your (over)fill. They will also want to be sure you are not lined up for other eating problems, also.
Good luck, get the extra help if you need it, ride it out. it will be worth it.

My psych initially denied me. I was crushed, I mean, a total mess. I wanted this surgery so bad and she was standing in my way. I ended up having to have weekly sessions for 7 weeks and it set my surgery back a month. I actually am glad I had to see her. It really helped me prepare for the surgery. I think if you do get denied, it could only help honestly. I know how bad you want the surgery RIGHT NOW, but I learned a lot from them.

If it helps you any, my surgeon at my pre op class stated that a patient stated the did the diet, he went in and closed her right back up. The patient admitted they did not diet at all. The liver was too big for him to work around. Also that someone that follows (mine is 10 day pre op diet) usually loses 8-18# so that's well worth it too. Hope that helps!

Don't jump ahead of schedule. It will hurt you in the long run. Stick to your plan and drink Water. Add MiO or Crystal Light if you have to, but focus on staying on plan, on schedule, and hydrated.

Questions like this are red lights to whether or not you should have the surgery at this time - not ever, but you need to be really aware of what is going on.
I see posts like this often (I have been here since November of 2011) and I know you are going to get responses – may have already got them in the time it takes me to type this – that it varies, maybe, if you exercise enough.
Honestly, truthfully, if you are over 100 lbs overweight and hope to reach within 10% of your goal and stay there, the answer is that you cannot get away with the unhealthy foods, you cannot regress to the breads and fats and drippy gooey things that got you here in the first place.
This surgery was NEVER about you losing weight, and somehow like it was an old war wound you forget about it in time, you maybe kinda get a limp that you compensate for but it is nearly automatic x amount of years or months out. It doesn’t work that way. You are putting your body through profound biological and physical changes and you were probably really heavy for a long time, possibly very ill, too. You are losing weight but you are really tampering with your metabolism.
We (I shift from second p. to first p. singular because this includes us all) – we will not succeed unless we learn that this is not a cure-all, not by far, it is a really long road. We deal with our bodies, our heads, our memories, other people, and when we are taking a respite from that we deal with the current, back to the day to day, and then, we still have the future. It’s scary, and makes us hesitate, and sometimes really overwhelms.
THEN we notice changes, less meds, less pain, more activity, clearer minds, deeper breaths, we have added years to our lives, playtime with pets and kids and family and even new friends. Maybe our pants fall down to our ankles, maybe we run up a flight of stairs AND down the hall before we realize we are not out of breath.
The NSV’s everyone mentions here – let those be your guide to whether or not the cheese’s and fats and breads really matter. If they are still in your thoughts, think this through some more – get with your therapist and explore some more discussion and evaluation BEFORE surgery. Note I did not say don’t do it. Just be prepared that you literally are going to get what you put in.

There was a thread here a while ago saying "okay who lost all their weights eating NO CARBOHYDRATES" or something. It made for interesting reading. Just as we all got fat in different ways,we all seem to lose it in diff ways.
My encapsulation from spending (too much) time reading posts on this forum?
1.,there are the who are carb sensitive and will not lose if they eat over 60-80 of carbs while other are not carb sensitive and lose with 100+ gms of carbs
    2. There are those that are triggered by eating carbs and then crave more carbs, and others who are not
    3. There are moderators who can have a little bite or three of treats with no ill effects, and there are abstainers who can't have a little without craving a lot.
    4. There are those who lost weight with no exercise, some fast, some slow, but there are others who, if they don't exercise, simply cannot lose it.
Perhaps the important thing is for each of us to find where we lie on each of these spectrums. (spectra?) Pity we are not yet in an age where they could "read" our chemistries and give us a personalized prescription. We were born too early

If the bubbles are just froth from the shaking the tea, etc you are ok.. If they are streaming to the top steadily like they are coming from the drink itself (no effort on your part to shake, etc.) then that is carbonation. You should be ok if it says no carbonation. SOME are carbonated, however.

Black Diamond, I implore you to stay hydrated if nothing else because dehydration will land you in the ER. It will get better. Trust me. Sip on Water if you can't tolerate much else, it Isopure. I used to get a straw for isopure because it tastes like crap, but the Protein is what I was after. You will make it through this. I have lost 80lbs and none of it was easy.

Hi I am no stranger to trying to loss weight, 5 years ago had the lap band placed, what a mistake, had to have it removed now after being frustrated with the office staff and the insurance company, I am now going on 2 week post surgery for the sleeve procedure. The weeks after surgery not so bad. The worst part was that my body system was not completely clean. So I felt like it was purging all food out of my system, having to run to the bathroom was no joy. My surgery was on August 19,2013 and as of today I am down 15 pounds and I am feeling good

Tell him you had surgery. Also he will spend his time trying to sell you services for after. That's his job
My advice? Use that time to learn how to adjust each machine to fit you, and make note of how to use each one. After that, you will be set. There are many many apps, books, etc that will tell you exercise routines. You don't need the trainer for that. But if you can get them to show you how to set up the specific machines in your gym, then you're god to go. Tips on form are also helpful.

Thanks everyone! I just called the gym I wanted to join and they give you 1 free evaluation by a trainer when you join as a new member. So Hopefully he can set me up with something I can do on my own. Do I tell him I had surgery? Will it matter?
