thanks guy, needed that! now that i am back to myself, time to fight! monday i will be able to plea my case before the advocate, hopefully they can squeeze me in before the doc goes on his christmas vacation. if not, wipe the dust off my feet and move quickly on to the next reputable doc that can see me before the 31st.
Unfortunatly it's a totally different ins company, so no hope of it being honored.
Good thing i'm in Houston, so i have lots of choices - just gotta find the right one quickly.

If the changes are through the same insurance company, they should honor it..
Hopefully, that is the case.
In my case, my company switched carriers..
Either way like someone else said - it is not over. You have time to fight this!

It would seem like you're already approved, so they would have to honor that, correct? Check, double check, triple check. Too much work to go through to make you do it all over again.

Get a list of the docs you are covered under, and call, first make sure of the basics...that the other people they use are covered as well, and then whoever can get you in before the new year, go for it...assuming they are reputable, of course.
Even if you are not apprived, if you want it bad enough, start saving now, just in case. I had a friend start saving at the same time she started her approval process, and it dragged on for so long that she decided to pay for it herself.

keep trying - "maybe" explaining the situation to dr office about insurance cut off problem - "maybe" a reschedule could be arranged????

I'm so sorry, what a disappointment!! Maybe the new insurance can use what you've already done?? Don't give up, if you have to begin the process over, just look at it that either way 6 months will pass. You can choose the time to make a positive move or not. Good luck

Yes. Tell your surgeon your that 12/31 your insurance runs out. Not it switches over... they will try to squeeze you in...

I'm so sorry With my insurance and my work schedule it took 13 months when all was said and done.
Don't give up! it takes time but it will be worth it and the long wait will be but a memory.

What about another surgeon? Once your approved you can use any covered surgeon.

Have you talked to your surgeon and scheduler about the insurance changes? You might be surprised what they can accomplish when it means payment in December or lost patient & no payment in January.

- My husband gets on my Nerves telling me what to eat, while he is eating pizza 3 days a week.
- and the worst of all I didnt tell my mom about the surgery, because i did not want to hear her mouth about what I need to do to loss weight, although she smokes a pack a day.

Hey Everyone Thank You For All The Support!! Surgery Was Successful & OMG I Wasn't Ready For That Gas Pain Lol

Finally after 3 months of dieting and 4 NUT visits and a psych eval I am approved. I am so excited. Now I'm just waiting to hear from Doctor. I'm starting to get really nervous.

I am so friggen excited! Today I went into my surgeons office for a refill of my acid reducer. I happened to see him in the hall and he was super happy with my progress. So happy in fact, he asked if he could get my weight. I weighed in at 147. I am 4 1/2 months post-op and have lost 85% of my excess body weight. He gave me a high five, took a picture and pretty much skipped away. He told me that his original goal for me was 65% EWL because of my PCOS, HBP and other health issues (all of which are gone)
I am still 12 pounds from my personal goal, which will put me at a BMI of 23, which would be most ideal for my body type. If I lose much more than that, I am afraid my skin will not bounce back as I would like. Maybe 130 so i have a little bounce room. I want to be healthy looking, not too skinny.
Other than probably loosing 2 lbs of my weight in hair, everything else is going great. I have finally got my acid reflux under control with Lansoprazole 30mg twice a day, which is only 5.00 a month for a copayment. This is now the only prescribed medicine I take. Blood pressure, high blood sugar and metformin for PCOS all discontinued. My size 8s are getting roomy (I was a right 16 and a XL or 1x) and honestly I don't look too bad naked, considering 3 kids, c section and surgery scars. Best of all though, truly..I am healthy and feel fanfrickentastic. It's amazing. Lose the weight of a 9 year old boy and everything stops hurting
I see often on the boards people say that they get pissed when they see someone around 'only' 200 LBS have surgery. I was at my highest 218, and at surgery 209. I was slowly but surely KILLING myself. I feel like a new woman, I look like a new woman and am here to tell all of you 'low BMI'rs' that if you have tried, unsuccessfully to lose that extra weight and only see yourself moving up...research, research research and then GET YOUR LIFE BACK! Don't wait till you are 250...300...400 pounds. Seriously! By no means was this easy, but besides having my children and marrying my hubby, it was the best thing I ever did for myself, and for them.

I went to old navy today and tried on a size zero and they fit. From a size 18 to zero amazing.

Thank you all for the prayers and encouragement. Thanks Gary for sharing your personal experience. I pray that God will give him a change of heart. Yesterday he went from telling me that he wouldn't file for divorce for 2 years to texting me this morning and telling me that he is filing in 6 months. Every day is getting more unbearable. I don't know how much more hurt my broken heart can take. He told me that we could go to christian counseling. We went 1 time, and he left that night. He keeps telling me that he has been wanting to leave for months. He wants to live the single life at 41 years old. I just pray that he regrets it before it is too late.

I am all over the place today! Insurance has approved, date scheduled, but I am terrified. I've been on these boards reading and researching forever it seems like, and I've read the amazing success stories along with the frightening complications that have been here recently. One second I am resolved to going through with it and know I need it. I'm good at reminding myself what this surgery has the potential to help me do. Then next second, I am terrified of complications, losing out on food, feeling restricted, wondering if I really need this, or if I would be ok like I am?
Of course I know I need this, bit how do I convince that other side of myself to calm down and go through with it? It doesn't help that my mom thinks I am crazy & this is sooo drastic. My husband supports me but he is a skinny minny so can't really understand.
Thanks for reading, guys. I think it helps to just get it all out. I am going to talk the a therapist on the 12, 8 days before surgery, and will continue to see her for a while afterwards to help work out issues that come up. There is probably no one in the world who couldn't benefit from therapy & I'm certainly no exception...
What did you guys do to help with the bad anxiety that comes from this journey? I don't want to get scared into banking out now.

I Just Arrived To The Hospital Im With The Nurse Right Now About To Start Everything Im Super Excited Only A Little Nervous! But I Prayed So Much That Everything Would Come Out Fine May Everyone Who's Getting Surgery Today Everything Come Out Great & Have A Speedy Recovery!!

December 10th is my new sleeve date. Looks like Santa will be packing surgical steel and a lathoscope!! The figgy-pudding is going to have to boiled, strained and pureed!! Still less than pleased about the catheter... no one needs to down that chimney... quick quick quick. Next post hopefully will be in the car headed to the hospital. Goooooooooo sleevers!
