Keepgoing247 got a reaction from beeteroo in Im a 34 year old wife and mama of three kids that I homeschool. My surgery is on March 10th
Honestly my recovery was super easy. I felt 95% back to normal on day 3. I have 3 kiddos and we run a couple businesses. I have much more energy than ever before.
I think you will be amazed at how well you will do. Today I climbed up a
3 story circular enclosed tube slide to play with my toddler. Them preceded to enjoy going down the slide. I still remember when I used to freak out if the kids got hurt on one of those massive playgrounds. I knew I wouldn't be able to fit inside and go after my child. Now, I did it for fun!

Keepgoing247 got a reaction from cprince1975 in Fibromyalgia
I have fibromyalgia and I have been better post WLS. I do have flare ups, but I don't typically need a daily medication anymore. I usually just take the meds as needed. Now if I'm really stressed, it flares up, but other then that I'm much, much better!

I wish just having WLS would make us skinny / healthy. We have to make the choice daily to eat the right foods. I could eat a bag of chips if I wanted, in one setting. It's a "slider" food so I stay away from them. I allow myself "cheats" occasionally. This is when I'm most thankful for my "tool." I went to a restaurant, ordered my favorite meal, and it looked like I hadn't hardly touched it. Pre WLS, I would have eaten the whole plate, plus dessert. The sleeve or other WLS is a great tool. But, you still have to make the right choices. Some people can't tolerate unhealthy foods that they were able to pre-op. I, however, can eat anything. So, I have to make the right choices to stay on course.
I made the mistake of eating like I was in maintenance for 3 - 4 mos. It was nice that I didn't gain weight, but I am upset with myself for throwing those months of weight loss away.
Many people do re-gain after WLS surgery. I know I will never be 380's again. I have worked way too hard and feel so much better even though I'm a ways from goal. I may struggle from time to time, but I've gone through too much to throw in the towel.
I'm not willing to settle for anything less then complete success. I deserve it and so do you!

I just moved to a new apartment that has all kinds of amenities, including a fitness center. I set a goal for myself to get into the gym within one week of moving in. So, I started today. I really wanted to go, but I had to fight with myself to get up and make it happen. But once I got in there it was great, like coming home. Only problem is I'm sure I overdid it and I'm sure I'll pay for it tomorrow. It's only been a couple of hours and I'm already really sore. ...
I've only lost MAYBE 4-5 lbs in the last 5-6 weeks so I know I need to add exercise to up my game. I originally set a goal weight of 140 lbs, and I still have about 31 lbs to hit that goal. BUT, I am so happy in a size ten, where I am now, I'm not sure I want to get much thinner. However, I REALLY need to tone up. Alot. So if I get thinner, I guess that's ok too.
Anyway, thanks for listening to me go on and on... wish me luck with my motivation!

I used to float around the pool on my back. Discovered yesterday during my first swim of the season that I sink now. Can't float! My ballast is gone! I just think this is so funny.

This made me laugh out loud and really made my day. I know I still float! I made a long, long list of about 100 NSV's that I anticipate to achieve and I'll have to add this to the list. I'm going to mark them off with the date I achieved them. I've been around Water my whole life and was a swim instructor and life guard and always been a good floater! I can't wait to SINK for once in my life! Thanks for sharing this NSV, NMJG

I am five months out and used to worry all the time about people noticing what I was (wasn't) eating, but have come to realize that most of the time they don't even notice! I order something small, or at a buffet pick a few bites of several things and move them around on my plate and pick at it. They don't notice 95% of the time honestly!

My husband had that happen after his gastric bypass about 8 years ago. People kept telling him "You're too skinny!" When he went to his bariatric doc for a check up and told him what people were saying, his response was "There are so many overweight people right now, they don't even know what a "normal" weight looks like anymore"....

    pdxman!!!
Why? Because he has overcome several huge hurdles in addition to weight problems, because he tells it like it is, but diplomatically, and gives good advice and insight from a different perspective.

I second the nomination for PDXMan. He's always got great advice for fitness and exercise questions and he's a straight shooter.
LilMissDiva (or Stronger Diva or Fitness Diva, I can't keep up! LOL) is another great choice. I know she's admin, but she's at goal and still going strong on exercise and supporting others, both here and in other forums.
There are tons of posters here who would be great as a spotlight. I'd love to see a member spotlight on many of the old-timers, if only so that new people could see their stories and journeys: Sleeve4Me, MassIndex, Tiffykins, MeginNoLa.... I could probably name 50 people off the top of my head for a variety of reasons.
Someone who had complications yet was successful with their sleeve would be great. I'd also love to see some of the exercise gurus highlighted. It would be great to have someone who had a really high BMI, yet managed to meet their goal.
It would also be great to see a spotlight of the admin team. For me, Alex is just a name. I know he's the founder of the forum, but I don't know his story. Has Alex been sleeved? How much did he lose? How long did it take? The same for a couple of other admin people. I know Susan's story because I haunted the site looking for it. Sorry Susan, you didn't know I stalked you, did you?
Perhaps Member Spotlight could become a forum of it's own once there have been a few done.

So yesterday i went to one of my hairdressers that i haven't been to since about a month and a half before surgery. Immediately after i said hello, She was like OMG, You have lost alot of weight. then continues to say, you're about the size you were when i first started doing your hair about 5 years ago. SHUT THE FRONT DOOR!!!! What... did she say that? i'm all smiles over here. So i'm leaving work early today and won't return here on site for over a month. Many people here says daily or no less than every other day about how much weight i've lost, how good i look, or asking how much weight lost, etc. I'll be out of town on buisness for 2 weeks, go on vacation for a week, then back out of town for another week or two. SO when i return back at my site hummmm, let's say at least June 2nd, Wonder what look, questions, or wise remarks that i will get? Lol, What do you think?
