funinthesun00 got a reaction from mommy794 in Do any low BMI-ers regret having the surgery?
I just had surgery on 1/18. I will say, day 2 & 3, I regretted, now that I am a veteran at 4 days post op (lol), and feeling better, the jury is still out for me. I had surgery at 5'2" and 179. I had gotten up to 205 just a few months ago when I decided to have surgery. I have struggled with my weight for 20 years. My recovery is going relatively well. I have gotten about 30 oz. of Fluid in so far today. Things are looking up and I doubt I regret this even a week or so from now if things continue to progress. Fingers and toes crossed.

Hey! So I came up with this with the help of my mom. I'm sure there are probably other people who thought of it before, but I wanted to share just in case there wasn't!
I took lean ground angus beef (I looked for bison - which would be better because it has less fat, but couldn't find any) and put it on top of multigrain tostitos and cheese on top of that, then I broiled it for a minute in my toaster oven and dipped those chips into fat free Greek yogurt in place of sour cream (it tastes exactly the same!!!)
It's a great way to get Greek yogurt in which is high Protein and absolutely delicious alternative to real nachos. I had to make it tonight because I was craving nachos like no tomorrow!
I attached a picture! I hope others try it and love it as much as I do! Oh! And I know it looks like a lot in the picture - don't worry I didn't eat it all! I could only fit in 3-4 chips and the rest I'm saving for lunch even then I probably won't finish! And I even used a small side plate! :S

Surgery went well yesterday. I was in and out of sleep most of the afternoon, but i did get up and do some walking in the evening. I felt a pressure in the center of my upper stomach, i would describe it as discomfort more than pain. I haven't gotten sick, but i have waves of naseau that generally last from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. That has happened 5-6 times now. Today the gas pain seems worse. I have been trying to walk as much as I can. I also have to have 1 ice chip every 3 minutes. I also took a nice long nap this afternoon. Overall the recovery so far has gone better than I expected it to, but stillno walk in the park.

I am typing this from my hotel room in Eagle Pass, TX. The driver will pick us up at 7:15 tomorrow morning. I feel like I have a split personality disorder. I have been on the verge of tears one minute and really excited the next. I will try to update as soon as I can.

What a powerful thread. I'm getting surgery in two weeks and like many of you, I'm noticing how much I'm dropping in the pre-op diet, and the "see, I can do this on my own", "do I really NEED this surgery?" thoughts are flying. That, combined with most people trying to argue me out of the surgery because they don't think I'm heavy enough for it (silly people, you just don't realize how much weight I can spread out on a six foot body), has me doubting myself at times.
But the fact remains, I'm 95 lbs overweight. I have fluctuated between 50 and 110 lbs overweight for 25 years now. This is not a new dance for me. I deserve a medal for being an expert dieter (Slimfast, Weight Watchers, Nutrisystem, Atkins, Hcg, fat free, Soup diet, etc), and I deserve a bigger medal for Fastest Regainer, EVERY SINGLE TIME. In fact, I've never had a one month stretch of maintaining any level of weight loss, it's always an immediate give up and steady climb from there.
I know that I'm going to cry myself to sleep at night sometimes wondering why I did this. I know that I'm going to be the crazy ex-girlfriend with my bff food. But I'm also fairly certain that I'm going to wake up to life again and have the energy and passion that has been missing for too long. I'm not going to hide socially. And I will love not avoiding mirrors or seeking out the back row in any photo.
It's a huge step. I wish my life book would have a chapter about me losing weight naturally and keeping it off happily ever after, but let's face it, that's not my story. I'm giving it a slightly different chapter but still insisting on the happily ever after.

funinthesun00 reacted to spoiledbratt97 in I had my revision on 1/15/13
So I had my revision yesterday and I'm feeling good. No nausea, no pain, no gas. I've been walking around with no problems. Despite the circumstances, I think I'm doing quite well. The dr took about a 1hr n half bcuz I had a lot of scar tissue and a hilated hernia. The hernia was so bad that it cause my stomach walls to become very thin.
So I'm on liquids for a month and puree for almost a month. Its going to be hard, but I have to do what I have to do. So glad I did the revision. I'm ready for the bright future.

good morning all. I signed up a few days and have been scoping it all out. I decided to post because today is my surgery day. I finished my classes in Nov 2011 and im finally taking the plunge. I have 1,000 different emotions right now but there is turning back as of 7am.. reading everyone's postes and stories is very helpful and comforting!
I'm 31 and can't remember EVER being at a healthy weight. I have a 7 yr old that I need to be here for and set a way better example. my family is very supportive and for that I'm grateful! the only health issue I have is hypothyroidism and plantar fasciitis.. I'm excited for what the future has in store for me! please say a prayer for me and I'll gladly do the same.

I post this in my blog, but I've gotten so much personal feedback about my journey from these pictures, I'd thought I'd share it on here as well.
Thursday is actually my 5 month Surgiversary- but this past weekend I attended a friends birthday party and they took a lot of candid shots of me, I compared them to some candids from last summer. Pretty amazing difference at this point and I"m not even at my official optimal goal yet. I am the brunette in the top pictures wearing the orange/reddish dress.
