My advice to you right now is to breathe. You are living in your now, which by no means speaks to what your future will be. Don't be so desperate. Believe in Gods timing and trust that what didn't work out wasn't meant to be. Be grateful for the intervention and trust you have something better in store for you. It's when we get all worked up we make decisions we shouldn't. Be careful about being too desperate on the financing. Some of the interest and fees nearly double the cost. It's ok if you have to save up a little more - and please don't settle for the cheapest route you can find. You're worth more than that.
I totally pigged out and gained about 10 more pounds before I started my pre-op diet. It was a total food funeral extravaganza....complete with all the trimmings. I had my surgery on 12-12-12 and am feeling good now.

It's normal, but that doesn't make things easier for you. Just try to take things one day at a time. Soon it will be a distant memory and your life will become amazing.
Two suggestions for now: stop watching TV. Or if you have a DVR, record shows and zap thru the commercials. Those were killer for me to watch after post-op!!!
And really try to keep up your fluids. Play around w many diff tastes and temperatures. I ended up being able to handle lukewarm chicken bullion. I drank lots of it, something I always disliked pre-op. it is really, REALLY important to keep your fluids up.
One more thing: as your body releases fat cells, hormones that have been stuck in your body will also be released. So don't be surprised if your emotions are all over the place. For me, it was like i had major PMS for an entire month. And oftentimes your skin will break out with crazy pimples. It will pass, but it's hard to deal with when it's happening.
Gentle hugs.....things will get better.
I'm here in Tijuana now and I came alone. Surgery went fine and the doctors were able to keep the nausea at bay, which was a big concern for me. Drs. Lopez and Osuna did my sleeve at Mi hospital. The hospital is clean and several of the nurses are fluent in English. Make sure the nurses keep your Fluid bags going nonstop.
Important! Have a good hiding place in your suitcase for valuables....otherwise they WILL walk off. Also, bring a sleeping mask for your eyes and some earplugs. Someone didn't consider lights glaring in patients eyes during the construction process. It's very noisy. The highway to the border is right across the street and the people waiting LOVE to honk their horns. And finally - bring a hair dryer....the hospital doesn't supply one....
Overall, I am pleased with my decision. I'm glad I had two nights in the hospital and two nights at the hotel before flying home tomorrow. Recovery is no joke!
P.S. bring your passport or passport card....really....it's better to be safe than sorry.
I found peace with doctor Lopez also. I get sleeved this Wednesday the 5th . I'm so ready for this !! I will let u know how my journey goes. Can't wait to be on the loser bench:)
A few months ago it was the other way around, all I heard was negative things about Readyforachange, which made me go with alighterme. I've made up my mind to just not care about the coordinator drama, I'm going to a great doctor and I'm happy about that. I do want a good experience from start to finish though, and all I can do is hope that I receive that. I'm not going until March though, but I will be sure to post about my experience for others
I kept hopping around from surgeon to surgeon, and I finally just had to narrow it down and pick one. If you have been on these forums for a little while you will notice certain doctors get popular for a while then it dies down, then another doctor will get popular for a while. When I was doing my research I had to exclude Aceves and Alavarez due to my finances. I just can't afford to go to them, even though I've heard wonderful things about them. I read a few negative things on Dr. Almanza at that time, and all that coordinator drama was going on with Dr. Kelly and that death or whatever so I kind of ruled them out for me. Not saying they aren't good surgeons, I'm just scared to death as it is and any time I hear something negative it just turns me away from the surgeon because I'm that terrified. So, that left Lopez and Osuna, Garcia, Dr. Ariel Ortiz, and Ponce. I tried contacting Trish, but never got a reply from her so I started researching other surgeons. I kept going back to Dr. Ortiz, but I didn't think I could come up with the funds for him either even though he is cheaper than Aceves and Alvarez, and he's in a center of excellence. He's done a few sleeves, but he was mainly the go to doc for the Lapband and now he's pushing plication. I absolutely don't want plication surgery, so I felt like I needed to go with a surgeon that was more experienced in sleeves. That narrowed it down to Lopez or Garcia. At the time I was researching the docs, a few people who went with Garcia complained about infections in the incisions but nothing too awful. I've mainly heard great things on him! I decided on Dr. Lopez/Osuna because I've never read one bad comment on him. Plus, there's 2 surgeons instead of one! His price is reasonable and he's done over 3,000 sleeves. I'm going through alighterme and scheduled for March 11th! I'm still terrified, but I'm ready to do this!
My first night was at the marriott and then two nights at the new hospital and then again at the marriott for two more nights. It was beautiful to wake up with flower petals all over the balcony! I am doing well, just eating popsicles cause i am so thirsty, but just not hungry for anything. Oh and im down 18lbs! : )
Thank you so much for your help. Sounds like some good things to try. It seems like I have hit a "set point" and really struggling to get it right. I'll try these things.
I hear ya sister!! The coordinators have been interesting to say the least. The lack of professionalism across the board floors me. Makes me want to just go out and start my own Medical Tourism business because I know that I could do a WAAAAAAY better job than what I've seen so far.
Now with that being said, I did decide to go with Dr. Lopez and I am using A Lighter Me. I have managed my expectations regarding A Lighter Me and know that the Dr. is the important part and the Dr. is a good one.
I do not plan on telling anyone at first, I hope that I can keep it a secret from my children even.
Part of it is because I don't want people to Be less excited about my weight loss or less supportive, Because usually people are un educated about weight-loss surgery and they think it is the easy way out. I also don't want to be labeled "The one who had weight-loss surgery"
Or now, when I lose all of the weight and am able to keep it off I hope that I can help others. If someone who is very overweight asks me how I was successful I will share with them. People who actually want to know. I still hope it never gets back to the in laws
