  1. Curves was hard on my knees, so I go to the Y and do Water Aerobics. Easy on my joints!! Also have a treadmill to walk at home when it is dark outside or cold!
  2. I had none of that until after 6 months out so can't help with the question. Sorry!!
  3. Many might be having surgery for the first time, and don't realize how it affects the body and how long it takes to recover. Then we have the change of eating habits added to this to make it harder.
  4. I was able to count the fluid in my shakes. I really like the injury strawberry sorbet.....especially with frozen strawberries instead of ice. Did that later though.
  5. Looking great!!! Keep up the great work!!!
  6. Are you doing the color run in Lansing?? My husband and I are doing it at 8:30 if you want to join us...Later was booked already. Message me. They said we can walk, run, crawl, do cartwheels as long as we have fun and finish!!!
  7. I just signed up for the Color Run in Lansing MI on July 13th for my husband and me to do the 8:30 team race. Anyone can sign up and join our team. Just message me and I'll give you the team name, my name, and the password. Would love to have others join us. I'll be walking most of the way as fast as I can. Carol
  8. If you find any close to Lansing that are 5K walks I'm in. My husband would walk with us too as support. The 11th is a Thursday which surprises me that it would be on a Thursday.
  9. You are not alone!!! In the beginning, it is very difficult and especially if you are having problems. Take it one day at a time, and it will improve!!!
  10. I actually had my stomach growl last week......My surgery was Nov. 12, 2012. I still have problems getting some food down, but one night I just wanted to eat and eat. I just made sure that I was eating protein and veggies. When I want something to crunch on, I eat dill pickles. My PA had me increase the amount of protein I was eating instead of being at 60 grams. Good luck with this...
  11. I had to put in 1200 calories to up my protein. I don't eat that many calories so it always tells me I'm starving myself but I ignore that.
  12. I can't imagine what you have gone through......Keep going!!!
  13. Don't give up! I was 65 when I was sleeved in Nov. I was 225.5 at my highest and weighed 158.4 today. My youngest is 39 and I finally weigh less than my husband and less than I weighed when she was born. Walked a 5k a week ago for the first time!!
  14. Highest weight before surgery 225.5 Surgery date 11/12/12 Today's weight 158.4. Yeah!!
  15. I'm 66 so am not worried about some things younger gals are but my stomach actually growled on Wed when I was getting a massage. Haven't had it growl once since surgery. Wonder if it was because I started weaning off the omeprozele. Having to concentrate on what I'm eating and portions!!!
  16. Also my blood work was great!!! I can try and wean myself off the omeprozele if I don't have reflux!! I just realized I didn't take it today and this is the first day my stomach growled since surgery. I wonder if there was more acid in there. Will have to check it the next time I don't take it.
  17. Saw the PA yesterday for my 6 month checkup. Highest weight 225.5, weight yesterday dressed at doctors 161.5, on my scale this morning in my bathing suit....159.2. Yeah!!!!
  18. Thanks for sharing the articles. Have never heard of that procedure. I'm only 6 months out, so it will be awhile before I can do anything though.
  19. Interesting articles. Still losing so don't know what I will need/want,
  20. I'm 66 now and had my surgery in November. Tomorrow is my 6 months checkup and I know I have lost over 60 pounds from the 3 weeks before surgery consultation. I paid for mine and have gone from a 1-2x to size 16P and Sat. I walked a 5K. Have never walked that far!!! You can PM me too! Carol

Yes, the gas pain is hard, but keep walking and sipping a little at a time. It gets so much better!!
  23. Walked the 5 k in 1 hour and 6 minutes. They had us funneled down near the end so it was slower! I did it!!!
  24. Just finished walking a 5 k in 1 hour 6 min.
  25. My nieces did it last year and had a blast! I'm walking the 5k in Grand Rapids in a few hours. 6 mo out but can't run it because I had knee replacement. You'll want to check with your doctor after surgery. I'm 66 and proud of it!!!
