  1. I have seen it said on here many times your body can only process so much protein at one time, so if you put it all in at once you are wasting some of it. Hope that helps someone. I know if info helped me when I found out.
  2. Mokee I have no idea what you mean using script. All I did was type it out an change the color in a couple places. If you can explain what you mean I will do what I can to accommodate you. Thanks :}
  3. I have experienced this several times and the times I checked my blood sugars they were low. I hope this helps Katrina :}
  4. Sorry in advance if this is long and I ramble a bit, I just need to say something's out loud and I am hoping you all understand and don't mind me talkin' :} My surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday the 19th in Las Vegas with Dr. Thomas Umbach. I have been on my pre surgery diet for a few days now and am finally doing ok and not wanting to attack and steal crackers from a 2 y/o who was eating them as he passed me by on Sunday....lol I have been soooooooooo freaking emotional the past week, i'm sure part of it is the lack of food, caffeine, nerves about surgery and being that time of month didn't help. I have only had 1 surgery before and it was foot surgery so I know everything about this surgery is going to be very different. When I had that surgery I did not come out of the anesthesia very well made me very nauseous and I was looped out for several hours. I do have my fears that something will happen to me during surgery and I won't come thru it. But I trust my Dr and his experience with doing this surgery. I would be stupid to think there are no risks or complications (I usually see all the bad before the good has a chance to peek thru) I think my biggest fears are how will I do with the anesthesia & the "not knowing" what to expect (like how much pain I will be in, how hard it will be to drink, how i'm going to handle new things for the 1st time after my new tummy) I know I will lose weight and I have already made up my mind that I didn't get this big over night and i'm not going to lose it all over night either. My goal is to lose 10lbs a month and become a healthier better me, to get off the insulin, have less pain from my arthritis, fibro & nuropathy. I have never really been one to exercise but I have been walking as much as I can and I have already gotten things started with a personal trainer and a program once I am cleared for exercise and until i'm cleared I will continue to walk and get my stamina built up. I want to say THANK YOU to Alex Brecher for this website and for making it possible for people like us to talk to others who know where were coming from and understand our feelings. The staff here have been awesome also and to A LOT of the members here who share there journey & photo's with the rest of us. Who give us support and are willing to answer questions (even dumb ones....lol) give us a kick in the pants when we need it and the courage to keep going. I have learned so much from reading post after post, my daughter thinks i'm crazy because I "take notes". I hope at some point I will be able to help someone else out and inspire someone to keep plugging along and take the steps needed to become healthy and happy :} Thank you in advance if you read this, I do appreciate you all. I just needed to say it all out loud I guess and I only have a few supporters that I can talk to without judgement and cruel words. Thanks again, Katrina :} God bless all those who have upcoming surgeries. I will be looking out for your stories & updates.
  5. I would love to be included in watching your journey. Do you have to send invites or what is your FB info?
  6. Hello all, my name is Katrina my pre~op date is this Thursday the 7th and surgery is scheduled for Feb. 19th. My surgeon is Dr. Thomas Umbach in Las Vegas. I am glad the day is almost here but I am also a lil scared now that it's all so close and is now so "real". I have been on VST since October and have got a lot of info from fellow sleever's. I am still a little confused on how were supposed to get in all our water & protein, but i'm sure I will figure it out after surgery. I am glad this forum was started thanks Liz :} I wish all much success with surgery and there new life :} I'm sure I will be asking lots of questions to all my fellow Feb sleever's hope ya'll don't mind
  7. It get in the 120's here during the summer so I dont use my oven at all, heats up the house too much. I cook in my toaster oven and the kitchen stays cool. My toaster over is a little more than for toast it broils & has a convection oven. It works well & keeps the house cool, that's all I need :}
  8. JP69 You can make the Ricotta Bake in the toaster oven. I haven't had my sleeve yet my surgery is scheduled for the 19th. I use my toaster oven all the time to cook in even baked cookies and brownies for the hubby in it. Defiantly worth the $ it cost :}
  9. I got the Grape Isopure and mix 5oz with Grape flavored crystal light, its the only way I can get it down.
  10. I have my pre~op apt on Feb 7th so im sure it will be starting after my apt. but will let ya know ;}
  11. Congrats to you :} I just got my approval this morning, my date is Feb. 19th. I am excited, scared, happy, scared, excited for the new me to be welcomed in & did I say scared..... :}~ again congrats to you
  12. I would think since it's just sugar/carbs and water, I would try to add some protein in there to make the calories kinda worth it. But it does sure sound Yummy :}
  13. Oh and there Vitamin World brand
  14. I buy my vitamins at Vitamin world. They have all of what I need and I can afford to purchase them. In the past I quit taking vitamins because they were so ridiculously priced I couldn't justify there expense in my budget, then I discovered vitamin world. :}
  15. calcium citrate is the one to go with. its easier for us to break down after surgery because we don't have as much stomach acid as before surgery.
  16. You can also but a large bag at Sam's club that has several individual bags inside. You just pop in the microwave and let them heat up and then eat. they even come with little salt packets if you want to salt them. Ive been eating them for years in place of popcorn when we do movie night at home.
  17. 6 servings 88 cal. 4 fat. 3.3 carbs and 9.2 protein Baked ricotta 8oz ricotta 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese 1t. Italian seasoning 1lg egg Salt and pepper 1/2 cup marinara sauce (I used 1/2 cup sun dried tomato alfrado sauce 1/2 cup low fat mozzarella cheese Mix ricotta cheese,parmesan cheese, beaten egg, and seasonings together. Place in oven dish pour sauce over top then top with mozzarella cheese. Bake 450 for 20-25 min
  18. Vitamin World has a very good multi vitamin that's chewable in pineapple flavor and it has as much & a little more of somethings than Bariatric Advantage one does. That's what I use cus it is cheaper and im on a budget right now. If you don't have a Vitamin World close you can order online and they will ship to you. I don't do the gummies because i was told they leave out some of the important one's because they taste yucky. Good luck in your search :}
  19. Thank you for sharing, I will try it this morning. I'm in desperate need of idea's :}
  20. @DayByDay what is a EOB? I haven't had surgery yet, I am waiting for approval from Ins. I have a high deductible so a lot of it will be coming out of my pocket. Any tips of what I need to have that you can share would be great. Thanks in advance :}
  21. I have not had surgery yet but I'm assuming the gas pains everyone's talking about is from them putting gas in us to blow us up a little so they can get around inside of us, am I correct? If so then how would Gas X, MOM, any of the over the counter gas aids help, it's not digestive gases that are the issues?? I'm sorry if this is a stupid ? I'm just a bit confused is all. Again I have not had surgery yet. Thanks in advance for your answers :}
  22. I have been told by 3 different doctors (I am diabetic and have severe Arthritis, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue) 2 before starting my journey to WLS and my surgeon that the Gummies are a no no because they lack some of the very important vitamin's, they don't put them in because they taste bad and the gummies would taste nasty. I talked to my surgeon and he also carries WLS specific vitamins and told him of my concern about the cost and he said to get the info off the label and if I could find a cheaper version with the same nutritional values he would be perfectly ok with that. I have found a very knowledgeable lady who works at my local Vitamin World who I gave the nutritional info to and she is helping me find the best possible matches to what the Dr office carries. Good luck in your search Hope some of the info given will help you :}
  23. @ljp: I'm new to crock potting and Greek yogurt. Do you set your crock pot on low high or auto for those 6 hours? When using Greek yogurt instead of sour cream do you thin it out a little bit or just use out of the container?? I'm and still getting to to the thickness and sourness of Greek yogurt. Thank you in advance for your help and thank you so much for sharing your recipe it really does sound yummy :}
  24. Thank you all for your feed back. I live in a town that has no stores like GNC or stores that carry the Nectar or Unjury brands. Closest I have come to anything I have heard is a good brand is the EAS I can find @ Sam's Club and they only have Vanilla & Chocolate. I'm worried about ordering a bunch of protein online because I have been told that my taste's will change and there's a good chance I will be lactose intolerant. I guess I maybe should order some of those SF syrups online, only ones I can find local is hazelnut, caramel, raspberry and vanilla. I will hurry up and eat all the frozen berries I have b4 surgery.....LOL What about banana's can I maybe put some banana in with vanilla powder for flavor? There's no seeds.....lol
  25. Ok so what the heck do I do until I can have fruit, the powders are too powdery tasting and im not much of a chocolate and vanilla person. I feel very lost as to what to do :?
