  1. @clk where can I get good info and cooking idea's for Quinoa? I have never heard of it and now i'm curious. I Google'd it but it ran me around and I still wasn't quite sure what it was....lol Thank you in advance for your help :}
  2. I haven't had surgery yet but in my consult apt with my Dr I said "Carbs" he said there are good and bad carbs, I don't care about the good carbs well call the bad carbs "Starches" and those are evil and the ones you should get out of your mind and stay away from. It helped me put it in a little better perspective cus I knew there were good carbs but everyone here on VST kept saying "low carb" but I like the way my Dr. explained it. Hope this helps you a lil bit :}
  3. Thank you sarahcc, I just want to get this ball rolling. I'm so excited, nervous, scared, scared, scared........lol
  4. Thank you for the explanation. Lots of abbreviations here and sometimes I can't figure them out....lol
  5. I have not yet had my surgery but I kept hearing people on here talk about journaling their food so I thought I would start before surgery to get in the habit. I have tried several ways, in a note book, in a date book, on my computer and wasn't very diligent in keeping track of my food. Then I walked into my local Vitamin world store and saw this journal book it's called "Diet Minder Personal Food & Fitness Journal" It has everything in it that I have heard we need to keep track of. Its small enough I can carry in my purse and big enough I can write in it and even read what i've written....lol I got it when it was a members special & only paid $5.00 for it on their website it's $14.95 but I feel it's defiantly worth the money. Now I have no excuse not to journal it's too easy with this book. I send good wishes & prayers your way to get you back on track and keep reading VST it has given me a lot of good information, idea's and support. Sorry the web site is: www.memoryminder.com
  6. Havent had surgery yet, what is a JP drain?
  7. That is so awesome, you should be very proud of yourself. I have not been sleeved yet and I can honestly say that one of my biggest fears is not knowing what to expect from losing weight. I want to lose 130-150lbs but I have no clue what size to expect or what I will look like. I have been a DD since I was 8 so I gained a bunch of weight cus it was easier to be picked on because I was fat instead of because I had bigger boobs than all the teachers and most of the kids mom's and since then I have never been able to lose the weight. I am afraid of all the loose skin and my boobs hanging more than now but I am more afraid of staying fat and dealing with all my medical issues. Thank you for sharing your pictures, gives me something to look forward too :}
  8. Thank you for the info, however I must be doing something wrong when I copied & pasted that web address it tells me: MU Health Care has moved This link is no longer valid...please click www.muhealth.org to see the new and improved Web site! When I go to just muhealth.org I can't find the document your talking about. can you please send me the link to my email please? minimewanna-be@yahoo.com Thank you in advance for your help :}

  12. @O.T.R Sleever where can you buy the Whey Low at that you were talking about??
  13. I just bought a Euro Cuisine Automatic Yogurt maker. I have read, that Greek Yogurt has more protein in it than regular yogurt. Does anyone know how I can make Greek yogurt????? The yogurt maker I bought doesn't really have any recipes to help me. Im new at this so im not even sure how to figure out the nutrition info like calories, carbs, protein, etc. once I make it. If anyone can please help me out with this I would be forever thankful. Thanks in advance for reading my post. Katrina :}
  14. Pinky Green I am very interested, however i have not been sleeved yet so im just at the beginning of my journey so im not any help to you :{
  15. So glad to hear you found out what was wrong and it isn't super serious. I hope the flare doesn't last long and your road to healing doesn't have anymore rough spots. I haven't yet had my surgery but I agree with you, there are a lot of very special people on this site who love each other and have never even spoke to one another let alone met. My prayers are with you for speedy recovery :}
  16. Sending prayers your way, Keep us posted on how your doing and what they say :}

  20. Maybe that was the issue then, I had been having issues and thought I was a dummy.....lol Hey did you & Dr U talk about removing or not removing your gallbladder?
  21. @Mamma: I just started a fitness pal account and am trying to figure out how the heck to use it. What is your name on there? Mine is MiniMeWannaB I'm not sure how to request you as a friend so if you can request me I will accept.
  22. I have not had surgery yet and my Consult apt. isn't until Dec 3rd, but i'm trying desperately to get the hang of all this and start getting in more Protein and get the hang of the shakes and stay within the calories, fat, carbs, sugars etc allowed. I am starting to experament now because I am a planner and get bored very easy if I have to eat/drink the same thing over and over. So today I made a Protein shake and wrote down all the nut info and this is how it went: chocolate EAS Protein powder ~ 1 scoop Cal130 Fat2.5 Carb3g Sugar1g Protein23g Sodium50mg Silk vanilla Almond Milk sweetened ~ 8oz Cal90 Fat2.5 Carb5g Sugar15g Protein1g Sodium150mg PB2 ~ 2tbsp Cal45 Fat1.5 Carb5g Sugar1g Protein5g Sodium94mg Total for shake: Cal265 Fat6.5 Carb13g Sugar17g Protein29g Sodium294mg Does this seem right or are these too high? I don't know what kind of numbers i'm supposed to follow. Please, any info/advise is welcome. Thank you in advance Katrina :}
  23. @Mommasmelting: I have my consult on Dec 3rd with Dr. Umbach at Blossom also. Do you live in Vegas? I live in Mohave Valley, it's near Laughlin, NV. :}
  24. Don't look at it as "I only" lost 40lbs, look as "I LOST" 40lbs....... In your past how long has it taken you to lose 40lbs and how long did it actually stay gone????? A lot of it has to do with THE WAY we look at things. You should totally be celebrating your 40lbs lost........... You should be very proud of yourself for all your hard work :}
  25. UTGal: Unfortunately I live in a town that has none of those, we have a couple grocery stores, Sam's and Wal-mart. and so far Sam's has been the cheapest for a lot of things Ive heard y'all talk about on here other that ordering online. I plan on going to those type store's when I go for my consult apt in Las Vegas on Dec. 3rd. Heck I'd even be happy if we had a Trader Joes ..........LOL :}
