I was sleeved by him on July 30th. He's great!!

So, I decided to go through my closet and drawers today and weed out what I can't wear anymore. All of this was prompted by my teenage daughter telling me everyday that I need new clothes because my shirts have become dresses and my pants sag. Lol. I have to admit, it feels pretty good. Two full baskets so far!

Well I just found this group--which is fabulous!!-- and wanted to ask for prayers for God's will. Yes, although I have what I think I want, I'd rather ask for His perfect will for this journey. I've gone through what I need to to submit my first try into the insurance company. I am hoping that they don't require a 6 month diet or if they do they will take my previous documented 2, 3 month diets. I really want/need to have my surgery before the end of the year as I am already off of work for another surgery.
Prayers please for Oct. 31st when I have hand surgery. I hope it helps me.

Pushed send to fast lol! She has supported my decision since the beginning and will be taking me in the am and helping me out post op. I hope you all are as lucky as me to have such a supportive person to go through this with. I'm blessed by the best:-) good night my family and can't wait to see you all on that losers bench:-)

I have had hypothyroidism for the past 10 years. My sleeve was done 21 months ago and I lost all the weight I wanted and more. Hypothyroidism didn't seem to affect my weight loss, and I have a metabolism like a lizard in winter.

@blondie1007, you have given me hope. I have had thyroid disease for 9 years. I thought this would be my demise of not losing weight. Congratulations on 100lbs.

Finally found out that I go in Thursday for my first official meeting with nutritionist, exercise physiologist and internist!!! Sooo excited ...this means my journey is beginning!!! EGD is Wednesday (getting it done early...lol). It seems like it's taken forever to get this far....I'm pushing to have my surgery at end of OCT or beginning of NOV if possible....would work best for work and family.....WOO HOO!!

I completely understand. I just had my surgery Thursday and up until I got into the operating room and got the first drugs, I was scared. I was afraid that I was being selfish and taking money away from my family. I was afraid I would die and leave my children with no mom. I was afraid that I would have some horrible complication and be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life and a burden on everyone. I have a morbid imagination obviously!
I was feeling awful the first afternoon after surgery but survived amazingly. Second day was a little better (lots of nausea) and it has gotten better every day this week. Tomorrow will be one week and besides being bored with my liquid diet, I am doing well. I jump off and on the scale daily and am seeing numbers I haven't seen in a few years. I'm not thrilled with facing the holidays and not being able to eat what I could before but I am going to have a killer outfit and I will be able to play with the kids like I haven't in years. So i hope this is a good story to counter all those icky stories you have been reading and know that someone else is a worrier too but so far so good!

When my friend had her sleeve 2 years ago I was to scared to do it.I went to a therapist and started exercising like crazy while on a 1500 cal healthy diet.The first 65 pound I lost at the same rate than my friend that had her surgery (I lost 3.5 pounds every single week) And then I lost it....like always.
I am struggling to lose at the moment but often I think of how different my life could have been now already if I did it then....she's had plastics and looks like a teenager again....lol
Dont just not do the surgery.Start doing something now,anything to lose the weight...time slips away from us so fast!

Unless he's actively pushing you not to get surgery or trying to prevent you doing it, I wouldn't bother trying to convince him of too much of anything. He's entitled to his own opinion and it doesn't necessarily reflect at all on your own motivations or needs. I would say if you do get the surgery, his opinion will change by watching what you have to do in terms of still choosing proper foods and exercise.

I only told a few close friends & not my family. I knew what I wanted to do & was very positive about the whole thing & didn't want any negatives prior to having my sleeve done. I was sleeved on the 26th of Sept, and returned home from Tijuana on the 29th. I talked to my brother after I got home & he is like you did what in Tijuana LOL!! I said thats why I didn't say anything prior to going, I only want supportive comments. He is great about it & I also told my son (grown & married) last night & he is fine with it too. I am not afraid of telling anyone, I am proud that I have taken this step to make the rest of my life a healthy one

My sister had lap-band about 8 years ago. She lost 80lbs. She told no one but very close friends and family. As she started loosing weight everyone came up to her asking how she lost her weight. She lied and said "diet and exercise". Some of her over weight friends wanted advice and help loosing weight. When they weren't successful she felt horrible and wanted to tell them. She was always afraid someone new the truth and she keep lying to them. It was really a struggle to keep it a secret from some and not from others.
I had my surgery last Friday. I have told EVERYONE and I'm so glad I did!!!! Everyone has been so supportive. They are calling me skinny-minnie. Calling and checking on me and when I tell them how much I have lost they are hooting and hollering. I also thought it would give me more accountability when I was out eating with my friends. That's when I always did my worst eating. I'm so glad I've told everyone.

LOVE PINK is the slogan for Victorias Secret PINK, a store that I always loved but couldn't fit into before I had the surgery... My goal was to be able to shop there after I got sleeved and now it's one of my favorites.

The injection in the stomach is a blood thinner, which really doesn't hurt much since the needle is so tiny. These little shots are also MUCH more preferable to the outcome if you did not have them.

It's ok to vent when you need to!! It will all get better. This is a big lifestyle change and I'm sure it will take some getting used to. There are plenty of people here that can and will help and support you through this and they have all been through it, are going through it, or will go through it. I know there will probably be days when I want to rant and rave once I have my surgery...so let it all out!!!

I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism 10 years ago. I am on the same medication as you. I had the sleve done almost a year ago. I have lost 100 pounds and am a size 11/12. When I startedt this journey I was 286 pounds and a size 24. My weight loss would be greater if I was able to exercise more, but with work and responsibilities it is just not possible. But I am not complaining.

I can't remember what the doc said and it's not covered in the book if you ever get to stop any of them.

My other med list used to include 2 bp meds, 3 diabetic meds, 1 cholesterol pill and 2 anti-depressants! My pill sorter is still full but at least it's all vitamins/supplements!

I have hypothyroidism and was sleeved on 8/31. No real problems, other than having to crush my thyroid pill. I was concerned about getting the full dose. Doctor said that I could swallow pill whole after two weeks. Much better! I have lost weight just fine. I lost 7 pounds on 2 week pre-op diet and another 18 since surgery so far. Good luck!

Hello all Im new to this site I found it by accident while looking up info about the sleeve..I have to say Im so thankful I did! theres so much info on here ! I was undicided about trying to see if I could get the sleeve done ..The more I read everyones post the more Its made me really want it.. Everyone on here looks great healthy & happy !! II want that for me too.. but i have a question has anyone out there had any problems with underactive thyroid or hypothyroids???? Have you lost the weight? is it harder to loose? Can the sergery still be done? Ive been on levothyroxine for the last 2 yrs my thyroids are stable now but Im still over weight ! My metablism is like molasses..I just want to know anything I can about this procidure. thanks
