I'm on day 3 of my pre op diet and I feel HORRIBLE
I think I would drink alittle coffee with the splenda or something in it...are you sure your dr didn't mean just no sugar? Maybe you can try a half a no-doze pill (it's just caffiene)...see if that helps with the headaches at least...Good Luck! later, Joanie :cursing:)

use to be on here as "2flyguys"
:cursing: I hope you can find the middle...so sorry for all that's happened to you, but it sounds like you are on the right track now! Good luck!

I'm on day 3 of my pre op diet and I feel HORRIBLE
:cursing: Did you drink caffiene before, and are you drinking anything with caffiene now? Could cause headaches if you cut it out cold turkey! When my sister had her band done she had trouble feeling sick just drinking the shakes, she thinks it was because she wasn't that into sweet stuff, especially in the mornings..., I didn't have any problems like that, but when she was able to start with the soft foods she felt better. Good luck and I hope you start feeling better soon.

Cocktails Anyone?
Anything NON-carbonated is ok...of course any of the sweet drinks like Pina Coladas, will pack on the empty calories...but it's only 1 night right? :cursing: Congrats and enjoy yourself...you deserve it!

need advice
My surgeon did not require any pre-op diet, except the usual...no food after midnight the night before. I was on liquids afterward for 2 weeks, then soft foods for 1 wk...and I did great...you will too! Have no fear...you'll do fine! Good luck, Joanie :smile2:)

How many of you had plastic surgery covered by insurance?
My Aunt had a breast reduction covered under her ins. recently, but none of mine was covered at all!

Sick of this
Please don't give up on the band...it is a lifestyle change that will not happen over night, and everyone is different, so don't try to compare yourself to others when it comes to how fast you lose weight. It is not always easy, but, as with alot of things, it will be worth it. Hang in there, relax and let your body heal from the surgery. Give it a chance to help you. Let us know how you are doing, and you can vent on here as often as you like...we are here for each other. good luck! Joanie :smile2:)

Afraid to post this, but I really need advice
Sounds to me like you are ready for that 1st fill...it should help alot...but defineatly try to eat better...be concious of everything you put in your mouth. There are probably foods you may be able to eat now, that you won't after your fill. Also, do not beat yourself up over a few bad choices, it is self defeating, as you are probably already aware of. Good luck and let us know how things are going for you! Later, Joanie :smile2:)

Do you consider Subway? to be fast food?
I voted yes, but only because it's not a sit down and order restaurant...I think as places to eat out goes, it's one of the healthiest, although I don't eat there now since I can't have the bread and I would want my old friend the 6"meatball...:smile2:

Getting back on track?
You are sooo right...I need to start doing this again  ...I had done this for a while, some time ago, and I actually ate better and lost again! It does work and you will be surprised at what you really are putting in your mouth, or are about to put in until you go to write it down, and decide...nope! Good luck to us all! I'm gonna go get my book out and start now! later, Joanie

So true, don'tcha think? Hang in there...keep in touch on here and let us know how you do! later, Joanie )

old bandster looking for support, direction, advice
I totally understand where you're coming from...Night-time is my downfall...I relax in front of the TV after dinner, and all of a sudden I want to snack...so hard to not snack...My only defense is having nothing in the house that I want. I go to the pantry and look and look, then go sit back down. Do you have a friend you can call at those times when you want to eat? I know there were times when I didn't want to talk to anyone, but when I did I felt so much better. I wish you luck on your journey, it's not an easy one for sure...but you can do it my friend! Keep in touch...Joanie :cursing:)

Anyone in Beeville, Tx.
Okay, so...I'm still looking for someone in Beeville, but I am retired now and can no longer go to the pool...also, I am presently not a member of a gym, but that may change soon. So, just thought I would put this out there again.

Me too, I have to keep the bad stuff out of the house, cause I still don't have the willpower to ignore it.

old bandster looking for support, direction, advice
:tongue2: Wow, you are telling my story...I am almost 4 yrs out and have been ~10 lbs from my goal weight for a long time and now I have gained 5 lbs from eating holiday sweets...just a bite at a time, but it adds up for sure. I am making this problem my #1 NY resolution...I've come too far to blow it now. Take each day, and each meal, one at a time...we can do this...I know it. best of luck to us, Joanie )

Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
My daughter is 5'7" and has had to battle her weight, just like her mom, all her life. She is about 30lbs overweight right now. Her major problem is that she can't control how much she eats and she is a carb addict. My dr told me he believes her to be the perfect candidate for a LAP-BAND®, but that the AMA wouldn't allow him to do it because they feel she isn't obese enough.

I thought the day would never come...
I remember that feeling. Best of luck to you!

Lactose intolerance
Funny you should mention it...my sister had her banding done almost 2 yrs ago and about 6 mos. ago started having some severe stomach aches. Her dr said she was lactose intolerant..bigtime...she can't have any dairy products now. We wondered why all of a sudden and her dr said it was probably due to the pouch she now has. Of course her fave food is....icecream...haha! Poor thing. I do notice some stomach pains on occasion when I eat icecream, but nothing terrible. Plus it does run in our family.

New to this....yay!!!

For Women- Underwire Bras
My port is not that high up and it is not centered since my surgeon used my old gallbladder scar to give me less cuts, but I have heard stories from other girls that had your problem...wish I could tell you how it worked out for them, but I don't really know. Just wanted you to know that you were not alone. These surgeons are usually men and I don't think they even consider the fact that we wear bras, ya know?
