Countdown to goal.....
hang in there! you can do it! I went for close to 3 weeks with less than 1 cc in my band after getting stuck on something and having a lot of swelling. I vowed to not gain any weight and actually lost >8 lbs. Yes I did let myself have a few things I normally can't easily eat (hamburger with bun) but didn't have fries with that etc. you can do it!!!!

Beating the ODDS 100% Goal. Help needed
if you go into this thinking that you will only lose 50% of your excess body weight in the first year- that's likely all you will lose if you go into this thinking the band will do all the work for you - you won't likely lose much I fully agree with those who state they feel there is no limit. If you recognize this is a tool to assist you with doing the work necessary by limiting volume- you still need to watch what you eat and exercise- you can lose every bit of excess weight. That's my plan! good luck!

Disproportionate
agreed! you are an inspiration

You've lost enough weight...
I agree fully that exercise is the key. I think it takes somewhere between 3-6 months to really make something a habit/a routine and now its gotten to the point (after 6 months of exercise 5-6 days a week) that I miss it if I don't do something- doesn't have to be the gym (although I like going) but walking the dogs for 45+ minutes, swimming etc- I do something active each day with specific focus on the cardio 5-6 days a week. Hang in there Sarah and people will tell you to stop losing soon too!

Disproportionate
I think that happens to many people- in particular - women. My lower body is lagging behind my upper body by 2 sizes. Its very frustrating to see ribs but have a huge ass still hang in there!

does anyone have feelings for their lapband doctor?
sorry- I misunderstood- I was thinking you were really FALLING. crushes on the whole are fun!

You've lost enough weight...
this is a good problem for us to have someone called me a "skinny minny" today. I have no idea what that is but I had to bite my tougne from saying "WTF?!@!? I'm still overweight! Heck I'm 2 lbs from overweight -haha" I know its meant well but in my head while I like and need the encouragement to some degree, I don't want to slack and think "I'm thin, I don't need to work" which is what has screwed me up in the past- I could lose the weight and then went back to all my old bad habits.

does anyone have feelings for their lapband doctor?
It is unethical for doctors to get involved with their patients (it may happen but its icky) so I'd tell myself it will never happen and move on good luck!

You've lost enough weight...
I'm bumping this in order to vent about this as well. People are driving me nuts by telling me how skinny I am and telling me that I should watch it or I will melt away. I realize that most of these people are trying to give compliments and be encouraging but some of them mean it. I'm still 35 lbs above the upper limit of "normal" weight for my height and 49-59 lbs away from my goal. I wish I could have it both ways comments of "you look great!" but not "you need to stop!" ugh!

Was Your Doc More In Favor Of Gastric Bypass?
It was suggested to me to have GB due to the large amount of weight I had to lose and the number of years I'd been MO. When talking about past weight loss, I told him I'd been able to lose 50+ lbs with atkins and he said that I'd do fine with the band- I think he was worried that if you didn't have some discipline that the band wouldn't work- and that's true; with the GB you have some time to get mentally adjusted while losing weight until you begin to reabsorb those evil fat calories
-
Do you just want to share???
I fully agree with those who are saying not to do it- I've been MO for years and it took me 3 years of thinking about doing something to actually realize I was ready to go forward. Fat people know they are fat- when the pain of staying where they are is too much for them, possibly they'll make a change. I think its the rare person who doesn't know there are options to help them. My mom is funny though- she'll see someone MO and tell me to go talk to them. It's hard not to want to help but the person on the receiving end needs to be the one wanting to change- otherwise it won't work

JulieNYC's Lateral Thigh Lift and Brachioplasty
Julie-thanks again for sharing your experience! Do you even recognize yourself when you see photos of the "new you"? How long did your dad advise you to hold off on exercising?? I really want the surgery done (ok- really its pleural- need LBL, inner thighs, breasts and brachioplasty but I need to wait till I lose 40-50 more pounds and get my bonus so I can pay for the procedures) -and I am already worrying about the time I'll have to stay away from the gym. What did you do re exercise/diet with your first and now this surgery??
