MrsGina got a reaction from Olivia2233 for a blog entry, Sprung a leak at 6 months out, no more sleeve or tummy
Well this will be my last VST entry. My sleeve blew out just below my esophagus, food was leaking into my body and caused a major abcess. Sooo, my entire stomach had to be removed, they did a bypass, so I'm back to square one. Unfortunately, I'm on a temporary feeding tube which is no fun. Also, I went through oxycodone withdrawal, if it weren't for my faith in my Lord Jesus Christ I would have lost it.

I guess I'm one of the one percent

Went to endo this morning and am now on a U100 insulin in my pump. This is so exciting to see progress. Down 70 lbs and kinda on a stall but that's ok, as long as I see progress. Went from size 20 down to 14. Working for size 8.

MrsGina got a reaction from misslady for a blog entry, 6 days post surgery
I have to be honest, I thought this would be better for me, cause I have had so many surgeries in the past. It isn't all what I thought it would be, I'm not whining or complaining, just thinking out loud.

From waking up in intermediate ICU to all these tubes hooked up to me, wasn't how I had envisioned it. Oh, I knew there would be pain and soreness, been there done that, but simply swallowing or in my case munching on ice. The doctors and nurses were awesome, they made this experience doable.

So, what was so surprising? I thought it would be a breeze and I would bounce back faster than anyone, stupid thinking I know. I think I'm morning the loss of the old me, the one that flicked her nose at rules and did what she wanted. My sleeve said nay, nay nay you have to be accountable now. As I stomp my foot and say bummer! I've read a lot of posts where ppl say they love their sleeve, hum, love is sorta a strong word at the moment. We are tolerating each other at this time.

I was trying to drink Isopure, gag, gag, gag. Well I have a great shake that has a lot of protein I can drink in the am and pm with enough protein. So why am I trying to drink the crappy stuff? Silly me!

Now getting my fluids down! I want to take gulps and you know what gulps do. So I'm using lil cups to sip out of. Problem solved!

Next is gas. I swear I walked 2 miles a day at the hospital, not even one lil poof, notta piff, notta fuff. Nothing. I could burp a sailor under the table but no gas insite. Until I went home, that sailor would be proud! Lol

So as I'm laying here listening to the splitter, splatter of my new tummy I'm thinking... Lil Sleeve you better be worth it!!!

    All for now.......

First I would like to thank you all for your kind words and encouragement.

Those days of pain and suffering after I got home from the hospital turned out to be an abses in my drain tube. It was full of puss and gunk, gross.

Spent a full week in the hospital, (if your surgeon doesn't put you on antibiotics before, during and after, kick him)! They couldn't pin point where the infection was but worked to get it stopped. That week was my Hell week, no more concern for the sleeve, just concerned about this horrible infection. I spent the most part of the week in ICU again. Had to have a p.i.c.k. Line and IV Nutrition. They weren't sure if it was just the infection or a leak as well. They told me that either way the treatment I was getting would heal both.

I thought I was emotional before, but for those of you with complications and being far from home, I feel your pain. Although Hubby was only 2 hours away I felt like it was a million miles. I am so glad to serve a God who will be there where ever I am! I really needed my Lord and Savior to get me through this one.

I am home at my sons recuperating and finally getting some rest. May feel like going to my home next week, well see. Just enjoying the pampering for now.

Still sore but getting used to the sleeve and all it's gurgling, lol still doing full liquids and that's ok with me. It's true what they say about forgetting to eat! Have to work on that.

Not sure if I would do it again, too soon to tell. But what's done is done, just have to make it worth it.

Also, I haven't weighed myself, just hasn't been a priority, well see.

I know I use too many comas and the word just too much, sorry about that. Lol

Ok, 2 days before surgery clear liquid diet. Glad it's Sunday and Darrell is home, he'll keep me on track. Packing for the hospital and to stay at our sons house, he lives closer to the hospital. Gonna stay with them after surgery so they can take care of Dexter my dog and give him his insulin shots. A week with my grand daughter is always good. She probably won't understand why I can't pick her up though. She's the Apple of my Eye!

So happy classes are all done. But I came home and was really tired. There is a chocolate fudge cake on the counter and yep I did it. Started just a sliver off the cut part but it was sooo good had to have another. Feel kinda guilty but surgery is 7 days away just had to have it. I've been so good on the liver diet, I just caved. All I can say

Just got back from a beautiful wedding. I thought they would have food I could eat, so no worries. Well I was wrong, there was all pasta, and I'm on the Adkins type pre diet. Well thankfully they had salad and for the kids they had chicken nuggets. So I peeled off the breading from the chicken and cut it up in my salad and made my own dinner.

    Got some exercise from dancing.

Any other diet I would have said, oh well, and ate what was there. I think I'm finally learning to adjust food to my requirements, not just go with the flow.

I hope I always stay true!

I was kinda worried how today was gonna go, but thank God it all worked out. My SIL made her famous cream cheese ball and I just put some on a stalk of celery instead of cracker. Turkey and a tossed salad for dinner, and I planned on a sliver of pumpkin pie but our Aunt brought a pumpkin pie trifle and it was all sugar free. I only had a half a cup of it. Just enough to enjoy but not too much. I am so glad I survived, and when everyone else was stuffed and actually hurting, I was content. Now I know I can do this! Thank you Jesus!

All is well and being sent off to the insurance dept. for approval. Surgeon said they may have trouble getting in before end of the year. He can do it but may not have an operating room available, I told him to,just do it in the hall. Lol. He was impressed with my weight loss, that made me happy. I can even wear a smaller size underwear, yeehoo.

I tried some of that UnJury shake stuff and it made me gag, the chocolate wasn't so bad but every thing else I tried was awful. Going on a quest to find something better.

    Stay tuned, it's getting closer!

I am really anxious to get the surgery done, I'm not good on patience and I won't pray for it. Lol.

I have noticed when I'm cleaning dishes, I catch myself before I lick the spoon. Or when my grand daughter leaves a fish stick on her plate to not pop it in my mouth. That must be the mindless eating they keep talking about.

This must have to be practiced, but thankfully I've been able to catch myself before its too late. No more licking the knife of peanut butter. Lol

It took a while finding a surgeon who would do my surgery, I guess I'm a high risk. (Who would have thought). Lol

I am getting the sleeve, then hopefully a pancreas bypass. I have had many abdominal surgeries but this one I'm kinda looking forward to.

I was so thankful to find a doctor with a sence of humor, I told him all the problems I had and he just kept saying arggg. Then he looked at my scar and I told him there was mesh underneath, arggg again. Lol

The shrink you liver diet isn't so bad, but the lack of caffeen is giving me a headache, and an upset stomach adjusting to no carbs. I was surprised when it took a while for my sugar to come down to normal range, but I'm not normal is what my friends tell me. Lol

All for now, next appt in Mid October for psyche and weigh in.
