rmbtcb4evr got a reaction from mrs.petethecat in What Was Your Final "straw That Broke The Camels Back"
This is my first post, so I hope I am doing this right. I was diagnosed with diabeties last August. My parents both have diabeties and I have to help with their care. I do not want my son to have to take care of me.
I also was remarried two years ago. I am so happy in my marriage but I hate that I have to take up part of my husband's space when we go to Detroit Tiger games, on an airplane, or at the movies.
I want to be proud of myself. This is one of the hardest decisions I have ever made. I am only 9 days out of surgery, and although it has been difficult I am hopeful.
I have enjoyed reading about everyone. Thank you!

Alright, just threw up. Too much. Gotta learn faster.
Okay, WEIRD QUESTION: Any of you found that your teeth get fuzzier more often? I find myself brushing my teeth a lot! Like 5 or so times a day. I'm wondering if it's just that I'm not drinking as much Water as I was before the surgery.

I completely understand. I've done it too often myself. Every day without throwing up I count as a victory.

I was just converted from the band to sleeve yesterday. I did not like my band. It ended up causing problems. I'd go get a fill and couldn't eat..go get an infill and gain weight. I never found that "sweet spot". I do not regret my decision at all. I would definitely choose the sleeve over the band.

    Sleeved 9/4....
I only lost 8 pounds prior to surgery because I found out I was having surgery 8 days before. As of today, I am down 20 lbs since the day of my surgery. I am starting to eat solid foods. I really like fish. It's the easiest way for me to eat enough to get Protein. I was getting the "slimers" but really have worked on eating slower and chewing more. I am still not quite to 60g of protein or 60 oz of liquids but I work on it every day. I think this was harder than I expected but it seems to get easier. If I could just stay off the scale every day that would be good. It's exciting to see the scale go down every single day. Like hearing how everyone is doing. Keep up the good work!

So I had my surgery 9/7. I lost 20 pre op and 27 so far since surgery. I've been naughty and have eaten things I shouldn't, but I always make sure to chew it up good. I'm going to get back on track hopefully tomorrow. I have been tracking on myfitnesspal. I need to get more Water in, I hear that's the trick to loosing weight faster. I've been walking, but I hope to be going to they soon. Keep keeping on ladies!!

I had surgery earlier this month. I also had type 2 Diabetes. I was taken off my medicines already. It makes me so happy because I was concerned about my pancreas. The medicine I was taking was very hard on my body. I did not have as easy time with my surgery as some of the others on this site. In fact I go back to work tomorrow after a month off. Overall I am so happy that I had the surgery. Knowing the difference between the RNY and the sleeve ahead of time should put you at peace with your decision. Good Luck to you:)

It wasn't the final straw, but I was always a big fan of John candy. When he died at 44, that was scary. And it got scarier as I approached 44. I'm 43 now, and I kinda feel like I'm averting that tragedy for myself.

My first PCP told me I was lazy and should go and do Medifast; that the meetings were held in his office on Tues. nights. I told him I know how to lose weight, just can't keep it off. Needless to say, I got me a new PCP.
