  1. it's all about what "gripes" us... just for fun... we all need to vent once in awhile!
  2. omg... I "literally" have heard that a billion times... LOL!!!
  3. amazing how the English language has suffered over the years... along with acryonyms and such with texting, it's even worse! (wow, I hope I spelled "acryonyms" right) ... what I miss is common courtesy ... what happened to "please", "thank you" and "you're welcome"?
  4. I am scheduled for October 1, I started the process on July 11...everyone told me it would take about 3 months...so I'm right on track...I can't imagine how/why it would have taken YEARS to get your approval... is there more to that story?
  5. You are hysterical!!! Love the "insight"... they don't visit with me anymore... but I feel your "pain" LOL...thanks for sharing, even if it's TMI
  6. I have been on liquid diet now too...my surgery is 10/1/12... luckily I like yogurt... carbmaster from Kroger... but there are lot of other things... didn't your doctors office give you a list???
  7. lol...I've not had my surgery yet to have the dreams, but I can relate... being Italian, we had neckbones with our gravy (probably cuz it was cheaper)... so wasn't big on meatballs, but my fiance makes some awesome meatballs!!! ... and there are some in the freezer calling my name!!! I'm on the liquid diet right now, so that is where they will stay...for now
  8. I am 13 days and counting until my operation....I didn't know we can have cream of wheat! I was ready to throw out the box, as he doesn't like it... cool!!! Thanks!
  9. everyone has to gauge that for themselves...but it's not just the job... tho a "sit down" job would be easier to go back to... but the driving, the eating, and they say the way the anethesia affects you... so everyone is different... but don't try to do it too soon!
  10. I LOVE your optimism...that is fantastic! I need to get a wedding dress ... but I'm waiting until my surgery is actually scheduled so I can gauge it... I've got it picked out tho... just haven't made the purchase
  11. I am ANOTHER pre-op test tomorrow... each person and each insurance is a bit different... I had to have an upper GI, stress test, checked by a pulmonologist and cardiologist...had to go AGAIN for my sleep apnea... then of course, the therapist, the nutritionist and NOW a Health Sessions class is mandatory... I have also had to attend a few support seminars... all good stuff, but I AM READY for my surgery!!! SCHEDULE ME PLEASE!!!
  12. I have what I like to refer to as a "zipper scar" from a full hysterectomy a few years ago; scar tissue all over that sucker... but so far, all the tests and everything I have had done, does not seem to indicate this will be a problem
  13. Posted June 29, 2009 - 2:40 PM It makes me feel better to know I'm not the only one! I'll definitely have to give the nectar Caribbean Cooler a try. I also love my Propel strawberry Kiwi waters, so I thought I'd try the Nectar in that flavor as well. I'm so hoping to find something I can live with & not gag every time I think about having to drink it! TennJenn...be careful with propel Water...check the calories...I went to a nutrition class on Saturday, and the instructor was drinking that until her trainer called it "adult koolaid" and looked at the label...25 calories per serving and 2 serving per bottle!!!! She was consuming 300 extra calories just from Propel water!!! Crystal Light has a strawberry kiwi...you may want to try that
  14. Everytime I read something like this, I am so GRATEFUL for my doctors office and my bariatric surgeon... they are on top of everything for me... today they called about the test results from Friday!!! I was impressed, unfortunately, they want me to take yet another test, something was a little "off" on my upper GI...but shouldn't pose a problem, they just want it checked out... may not be able to get sleeve because of it ... but we shall see... good luck to you!
  15. weren't you tested for sleep apnea? that sounds like it could be part of your problem... when I have problems sleeping (mostly because of arthritis pain), I take tylenol pm...that works for me, but everyone is different of course
  16. Right there with you guys...my (hopefully) last appt for all my pre-op is on Friday... my goal was to get a September surgery date... I'd settle for first week of October too!!! But PLEASE don't let it be any further out!!!! YIKES, I want it NOW!!!

You should, of course, check with your doctor. Each insurance is a bit different on what they expect; but I have not heard of any that will accept the surgery request without a therapist eval and a few other tests... ASK ASK ASK!!!
  18. I'd say talk to your doctor's office asap! Either they can move you up, or they may think it's best to postpone to November... here is the thing... whenever you get it done, there will be challenges, so it's up to you to decide what you can handle as far as your eating habits; but don't try lifting and carrying things too soon, as that will cause problems for you too. Whatever you decide make sure it's the best decision for YOU... but it never hurts to ask the expert (ie...your doctor)
  19. yeah...I'd like to know too....as I am sure it is going to be an issue
  20. YIKES!!! I forgot all about that...I hope I remember to tell my doctor that I have that reaction to the surgical tape... Thanks for the reminder!
  21. then I take it your job does not offer insurance, if that is the case, check into medi-cal
  22. you don't list your age or if you are employed... because medi-cal does cover the surgery...but I am not familiar with any other insurances for your state.

at one of our get togethers, someone suggested using the low-fat cool whip with the low fat syrups from World Market...they have a TON of flavors...you mix it up until you find the right flavor combo for you....freeze it and then scoop out a spoonful when you have a crave! Also the flavors are good for teas and coffees.... maybe that might help your sweet tooth... good luck
  24. It must be difficult for you when you are so close to your parents to do this like this... but sometimes we just have to do what is best for us. My sister had hers done about 10 years ago and only told 1 person because she didn't want to "hear" it...but we have all been supportive and she has maintained fabulously. Now it is my turn...I am almost to the point of getting my date... and I haven't told anyone by my best friend and my fiance... my parents are both gone; but if they were here, I know I would have their support all the way. Don't try to do this alone, it is never a good thing...find a support group, if nothing else, you need someone that is there for you 24/7... if nothing else...this group is here for you! Take care...and good luck... you are doing what YOU need to do!
