  14. I am a RN in the OB dept at a smaller hospital in southern illinois for 5 years now. It seems like a lot of nurses I personally know and in general are proceding with the sleeve surgery. I didnt know anything about it until a former supervisor had it done and was doing fantastic. I had my psych eval, nurse assessment and nut all done. Next week I see the surgeon for a consult. I have many many questions, as im sure most of us nurses had or do, but im most definite in having this done. This is a great place for the nurses to help keep track of each other as we take this time out for ourselves for a change!!!
  15. Tomorrow I go for my very first visit to De Paul in St Louis. Im so excited and so nervous all at the same time. Im getting butterflies in my tummy just thinking about it. Im kinda concerned about this psych eval though, ive never talked to one before. Hopefully its not quite the interagation Im picturing in my mind. Im not a talky talky with strangers kind of chic. But hopefully i will get cleared and continue on my way. I wish I could have this done right now, but im looking at hopefully the beginning of next year, due to my work. I also have to plan just in case they need to open me up. I've had 3 previous abdominal surgeries 2 of which when I was 3. Lots of scar tissue. My lap gallbladder last year turned into an open procedure. Im a nurse so I guess I should have known something like that was going to happen. Anyways, looking forward to whats to come, hopefully.
  16. When are you planning on having your surgery done? What kind of tests did they do to look at scar tissue? Im so paranoid that they will have to do an open operation. I was supposed to have a lap gallbladder, but i woke up to them saying they had to open me up.
  17. Im so glad you asked this because I was asking a few people im telling to help me come up with questions I can ask. Im gunna steal a few of these!!!
  18. No date yet... i go for my psych eval, nutrition class, and nurse assessment this friday. I hope i know more information then... i am so excited and scared as hell. Not sure i could handle this feeling for a prolonged amount of time.

  20. One of my former co workers had Dr Scott do her surgery when he was still at de paul. She is doing great! Im going to dr morales at ssm depaul.
  21. I haven't had the surgery done yet, just getting started. I have the psych eval, nurse assess, and nutrition class on friday. Im planning on going to st louis for my surgery though... just hoping for a laproscopic surgery!
  22. They didnt say anything about a 6 month dieting log... oh my, id be a little aggravated if i had to do that too.
  23. Well i dont know if all HealthLink is created equal, but il tell u what i know. I have my husbands insurance from the State. When i called to healthlink to find out coverage, took a minute but they said it was completely covered as long as its medically necessary. Meaning i guess if u fit in the criteria to have the surgery in the first place. The surgeons office called the day after in turned my paperwork and said that the insurance was good to go and they didnt require any special measures to be done prior.
  24. Im from herrin too! Its nice to hear and talk to people in the area near me. HattieSue, have u had any complications?
  25. Im so excited to get this started but so nervous as well. Im worried that i might have too much scar tissue for them to perform this lap. Im hopeful though. I was could go to Herrin in town here but because i might be a more difficult case, i chose St Louis... had a co worker go there she loved it!
