If you want to sanity check the Fitbit, you can use the Navy test.

I agree with Will on the float test. It is the absolute most accurate method. It also costs a lot more money than a caliper or tape.

It's very common to stall. Some people stall for long periods of time too. I have a specific pattern with my body. I drop lots of weight early in the week and then stall out after Wednesday.
Don't just watch the scale, take measurements as well. Lots of times when you stall, your body is resizing itself.
Take the victories anyway you can get them whether it's at the scale or at the tape.

Just think of where you would be today if you hadn't had the sleeve 7 months ago.
    89 pound loss? Hmmm...

Check with your doc, but I would think it's okay. People fly to go to Mexican surgeons all of the time. And that's just a few days after surgery.

When I took the nutrition class the day before my surgery (July 16th), I asked my RN why it says you can drink Decaf coffee on the liquid diet, but not reg. She said "because the RD who transcribed the drs orders onto the sheet is a nazi". She said that 1 cup of coffee never hurt anyone, including bariatric patients. Now, I wouldn't go crazy with a whole pot
Luv my coffee. Waited almost 2 weeks post op cuz I was scared (of what, no clue) and drank some on Monday. Boy did I miss it. I think most drs say to cut back and mine is really conservative when it comes to the diet, but says moderate coffee is ok

I'm far from an expert on the topic, but I heard somewhere that caffeine can contribute to dehydration. I have 2 cups of coffee a day, but I'm also 5+ months out and drinking tons and tons of Water (like 14-15 cups a day).

JustSayMoe reacted to Jamie Greatone Jamison in 4 weeks to go, what shoukd i be doing?
Well the foods you need will depend on your surgeon's guidelines, but Protein powder is probably a must. Soup broth, sugar free Jello, and sugar free popsicles are probably going to be on there as well since they are pretty standard. Get a good blender and a good food processor if you don't have one. Depending on your surgeon's recommendations, you will move to pureed foods a couple to few weeks after surgery. Buy extra baby food! You and your little one might have the same dinner at night!
I would try to focus more on the mental side of it though. Think and plan how you are going to do liquids when other people are eating (i.e. going to a birthday party or family cook-out). Start to wean yourself of caffeine now if you drink soda or coffee regularly. Start exercising now. Try to practice not drinking while eating.
These are some things that will help in the long run.

Congrats! You will do great. Just make sure you get out and walk as soon as you are stable enough on your feet. It is best way to recover. It keeps the gas in check. That will probably be your biggest problem post op.

Support groups as Don mentioned are an absolute must. Outside of that, just take each day at a time. Things will get better! Your body is still healing. It will be healing for quite some time. I was told after 6 weeks to eat anything I could tolerate (within reason of course). To this day, there are lots of things I stay away from. Not because I can't eat them, but because I don't need the crap I used to eat.
Focus on hitting the goals of Water, Protein, and activity that your doctor has. It will help you heal. It will make you stronger.
I don't regret my choice to have surgery for a second. That scale keeps me happy :-)

Had surgery exactly one week ago and I feel fantastic!!! I actually feel normal. If it wasn't that my job was a bit demanding and unpredictable, I'd be back now. Got sick of Protein Drinks around Saturday but pushed thru. I'm now on mushy food and my wife has gotten very creative. From artichoke hummus to egg salad with mayo and sour cream to ground up chili.........It's gotten easier each day and I can't wait to get on the scale on Aug 1!!!!!

Don't apologize, it's okay. Many people go through what you're dealing with right now and things will be back to normal soon. Different people heal differently so don't go comparing yourself to anyone else.
All those things you said above, you'll be able to do them again soon enough. And yes, absolutely get to a support group asap - as many as you need to. A buddy of mine here on VST goes to 4 different ones and she's 3+ years out.
Cry, vent, scream, whatever you need to do. You're in good company here at VST.

coffee, berries, chia seeds (with lots of water) COFFEE, sugar alcohols (5 werther's originals sugar free does the trick for me) COFFEE and finally, I've been experiencing much more regularity since I started eating Quest Protein bars.. they won't fix Constipation, but they help keep you from getting that way in the first place.. I think it's the 18 grams of fiber.. GO FIBER!

As of this morning I have lost 54 pounds total. I eat between 800-1000 calories and between 80-100 grams of Protein. I eat pretty much anything but always eat my protein first to make sure I can get it in. My daughter's wedding is this weekend, so excited to wear my new dress, with my tummy sucker on too of course! I haven't seen my son since right after the surgery, so I am excited to see his reaction
