Cookin, Cookin, Cookin!
I begin my pre-op diet this coming Tuesday and I will be on it for 1 week until my surgery on Tuesday, Sept 11. I am guessing that since I live out of the US and have little access to a selection of the items that you guys talk about, like Protein shakes etc, that is the reason that the Dr. gave me a little bit different diet than I see most of you guys having. I have to eat yogurt and juice for Breakfast and also for my 2 Snacks. For lunch and dinner I am supposed to have cream Soups made with veggies and at least 120 grams of chicken, Ground meat without the fat, or 2 egg whites and then either 1 small potato or 1/2 cup of choclo (corn). After I got my list yesterday, I couldn't sleep for thinking about what I should cook for those days. I went to the store today and purchased a bunch of veggies and ingredients for the soups. So, I spent most of the day cooking. I made 9 different types of cream soups although it was difficult since I couldn't add any fat or milk and couldn't use any bouillon cubes. They all turned out pretty good, I guess. I have them in individual ziplocs for each meal in the freezer. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had any good cream Soup recipes? I know that I will have 2 weeks after my surgery that I will be on this same diet plan and just wanting some ideas so I can go ahead and get some made to put in the freezer so I will be prepared and not have to cook while I am recuperating. One more quick question. Do any of you have any suggestions for books to read regarding emotional eating? There are lots of books out there but I want to buy something that is helpful. Have a great evening! So proud of all of you! You guys are inspiring! His Susie

Pre Op Diet Sucks!
Got my pre-op diet today and I was surprised. Granted I don't live in the US and we don't have access to Protein drinks really but I have to have yogurt and juice 3 times a day and chicken and Veg cream Soup for lunch and dinner. I think it might get old but I am assuming it wont make me nauseous. I hope. Anyway, hang in there! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!

Is Vsg Really Right For Me? 2 Weeks Out And I Have The Jitters!
Hey Guys! Thanks so much for all the support and encouragment. Reading your responses really has helped. I began the process back in November and have done alot of research and have always felt really confident about the VSG but this morning I woke up in a panic. It is so wonderful to hear from people who have been there and can give me honest information. I wasnt sure how to quote you guys since I am new on here so I have responded to each of you below. Thanks again! Lissa, I began to try to detox myself off of caffeine and sodas as well and have been extremely successful although I was addicted to diet soft drinks. I have been 4 months without it. It was hard at first but not even an issue right now. As far as the sweets......ehhh not so much. Thanks for the suggestions to talk to someone about the emotional issues that I have with food. I know I have them! JoyV, Congrats on making it out of the Plus sizes! I cant wait to say the same!!!! Yeah, I live in Lima, Peru and they eat rice and french fries with everything. I cant imagine a world without them but I am so ready to live in that world! MeginNOLA, thanks so much for your comments. I am exactly the same way. I love to eat healthy food and have even thought that I could be a vegetarian because I love veggies so much. I just make stupid choices!!! Even when given healthy options I opt for the cheesy fatty bad one! Are you from New Orleans? I am actually from Shreveport, LA and lived for 15 years in Baton Rouge. Just spent a year in New Orleans going to the seminary there. I would love to keep in touch. Living in Peru right now but heading back to the US for Christmas! Amazon13: Good luck for your upcoming surgery. Yours is the day before mine! We will get fit together! Amykins, I am right there with you. I am so ready to NOT be a slave to sugar! I would much prefer a brownie to an outright meal. What is wrong with me??? Anyway, I will pray for you as you change your life too! We are in this together!!! Barisaxylady: I am ready for the change! Lets do this! And one other thing: I started exercising for an hour a day 9 days ago and I feel like I am starving all the time!!!! haha

Is Vsg Really Right For Me? 2 Weeks Out And I Have The Jitters!
Good Morning all, I am fairly new to this group. My first Topic entry. I will have the VSG on Sept 11, a little over 2 weeks away. I woke up in a panic this morning wondering if this is really going to work. You see I am not an overeater, although I can overeat and do from time to time but this is not my biggest issue. My biggest issue is making poor choices, eating high caloric foods with low nutritional value. I know that with this new lifestyle, my habits will have to change. I am just so afraid. I KNOW me. And although I am firmly committed to do what this take, I am so afraid that I will fail. So, please give me some feedback. Anyone else that had the sleeve like me?

Home And Sleeved
Congratulations. I am so glad it went well. I still have about 2 1/2 weeks until my sleeve. Can you tell me anything about the pain level although I know we all have different levels of pain tolerance. Hope your day goes well! Blessings to you and good luck on your new journey!

The Most Embarrassing Fat Moment....
I work as a missionary in Latin America, it is common for people to call fat people (or even just chubby people) gordito which means fatty really. That took me a long time to let it roll off when someone said it. Well I ran into a young lady that I used to teach in an English class. She hugged me tight, rubbed my belly and congratulated me on my pregnancy in front of a large group of people. I was mortified.

Any September People
