I would say that in general I'm getting in about 70 grams a day. I have a smoothie at Breakfast which gives me about 30...and I've taken to drinking some light juice at night with some plain protein in it which gives me another 10 before bed (not to mention some extra Fluid which I could use!). And in between my food gives me the rest. An ounce of any meat, fish, poultry is 7 ....as is an egg. And I get in a good 4 ounces or more generally which gets me up to about 70.
If it weren't for the smoothie I'd be back to sucking on the protein. Which I was, but I think I'm better now. I do know that my protein levels in my 3 month labs were low. Like the very lowest end of normal...20....so I do watch my protein now much more. Speaking of which, I'm hungry....SMOOTHIE time!!

And within a really short time lots of people are-
    * feeling heathier than they have in ages / ever.
    * Are starting to come off medications for co morbidities.
    * Relived of undiagnosed depression and are starting to enjoy life.
    * Don't feel hunger or don't feel hunger like they used to.
    * Are having blood tests to ensure their nutrient levels are ok.
    * Are doing more physical activity than they have in a long time.
I dunno, sometimes I really think that other people that make general negative comments don't know enough about the proceedure and outcomes, even if they work in health care.
    Good luck at your meeting

    (1) I confess I don't understand the concept of myself as 'not' being that "fat girl with the cute face". Can I really be seen as anything else?!
    (2) I confess that I am slightly obsessed with the "next size down". When I was an 18 I always tried to squeeze into 16s. Now that I'm a 6/8, why am I disappointed that the next size down doesn't fit??!
    (3) I confess that sometimes I'm really lonely, and that losing 85 lbs hasn't taken that feeling away
    (4) I confess that I have no idea how to handle/date the opposite sex now. It's a different ball game and no one sent me the instructions!
    (5) I confess that I wish sometimes that the world was "clothing optional" so I could show off the new bod. Kidding!!!! But I do enjoy going out just for the game of being looked at. I remember the day 8-9 months ago when I would dread just going to the grocery store because I didn't want to be seen

My skin used to be oily and now it stays super dry, especially my forehead and nose. I read on another board about coconut oil and it totally works. I barely put any on and my skin feels instantly smoother and moisturized. I bought mine in the baking section at the grocery store.

hun sounds like you didn't have any physical problems during or after surgery???, thats great
so the main problem is you are now hungry???
you must have been aware that you would not be eating immediately after the surgery, and your way of life would be changing??????eating much less food - doing a whole new way of life with your eating
you made the wise decision to have WLS involving cutting out 85% of your tummy. this is not a decision i hope you made lightly - you chose to have major surgery!!!! i could tell you look smart
you wanted to improve yourself, be healthier, happier for yourself, family, for whatever other reasons too
looks like you have a lovely young family. you want to be able to run along that cute little one, cute big one too get healthy for them in addition to you of course
don't give up so quickly please ???
i "don't think" you mean it when you say "wish i was back where i started"???
do you mean you want to be that unhealthy person forever???
I "think" i know that you want to be better, and not go back to your old ways, that brought you to this point in your life
i feel bad that YOU feel bad - but please, give the sleeve a chance, its barely 2 weeks old, don't give up on it
we all deserve a second chance
    chin up
    don't give in/up before you've really started
    good luck

The first two to three weeks are tough, I agree. Three days after discharge I was readmitted to the hospital for malnutrition and dehydration.
I'm only one week ahead of you and I can tell you it does get better. The swelling has finally receded and, last night, I was able to keep down a couple of saltine crackers for the first time (have not been able to keep down any bread products until last night).
After a short period of time, you'll be able to eat anything you want except in much smaller portions. If two to three ounces of your favorite food allow you to feel full, do you really think you are going to feel deprived because you weren't able to consume four times that amount?
The other day (with my surgeon's blessing), I was able to consume (and comfortably keep down) about 2oz of chopped meat. Normally, before the surgery, I could easily consume two 8-oz patties in a matter of minutes.
It's a strange phenomenon really because my brain is trying to process two conflicting messages: You are full, yet you only ate one-fourth of one hamburger! Hey, what's going on here?!
To be honest, I love the freedom this surgery is providing me with... and I see it as freedom, not deprivation. If I could have eaten 2oz of hamburger or 2oz of Ben and Jerry's ice cream and felt satiated, I wouldn't have needed the surgery.
It's okay to be limited to, for example, 2oz of lox if those two ounces leave me feeling comfortably full. For the first time in my life, I know that not only will I take the weight off but I know in my heart and soul that, this time, I'm going to keep it off.

Good share. It makes sense, too. The VSG doesn't lose it's effectiveness with time due to the fact that your restriction around one year post op is about maxed, but the bypass does lose effectiveness after one year because the guaranteed window of malabsorption closes for many at that point. Couple that with a stretchable pouch and you can see why the long term success/regain rates for RNY are not as good as the VSG.
I'd point out that with whatever method of weight loss you choose the closer you get to your ideal weight the slower the loss is going to be. So naturally, the vast majority of people will lose the largest amount of weight in the first year post op. It took me half a year to shed the last twenty pounds.
