NaturallyCurious,
I know exactly what you mean. My husband was behind me last week and I got this scent of vanilla and my mouth started watering instantly. I whipped around and inquired what the smell was and he laughed hystericly... He had a garbage bag in his hand, he accidently picked up vanilla scented bags! I was so embarressed :/ Lots of things trigger it but thankfully since the new stomach is SO small you can eat a little protein and the cravings go away lately. I really hope you do call the dr. I know about failure, I have dieted on and off for 20 years with no long term success. Everyone on this site has had the same problem in the past and its amazing how much people are losing! This surgery will help you learn new habits and would recommend it for anyone with a history of weight problems! Please keep me updated on your decisions. I really hope you get to a place where you feel this is a good option for you

Hang in there! I have complete faith it WILL get better!!!
I got some great advice while struggling with my hunger so I will share it with you, If your going to cheat, try and cheat on the healthy side! How did the pizza toppings and cheese burger set in your tummy? Was it heavy? Did the grease bother you?

Thank you so much Suusje for the encouragement! How has your hunger been (or lack there of)?

Its good you realized it was just PMS and it will pass. Four days after surgery I started getting the same thing. I actually havent been able to gauge how this sleeve will work for me because Im so rediculously hungry all the time. It really sucks. If you have had your sleeve for a bit I assume things will go back to how it was before! Hang in there!

I am a week out of surgery today and 3 days ago I got the worst hunger, I seriously wanted to eat EVERYTHING. I have been so upset thinking that this surgery might have been a mistake and totally beating myself up. While reading your post I had a breakthrough, I too am pms-ing. I felt like a ton of bricks were taken off my chest when you mentioned this in your post, I realized that IS whats wrong with me. I always get insanely hungry during this time. I was so worried I was always going to feel like this since my surgery is so new but now I know it will pass. You have no idea how much this post meant to me, Thanks for sharing your experience and making me realize what was going on with me !! Best of Luck to you!

I was sleeved sept 27 exactly a week ago this morning and Im down 16.8 lbs since surgery!
Thanks for the protein suggestions, I really appreciate it!
Thats very interesting about the acid. I will make sure I take my pills. Its really hard to distinguish so early out what is going on in this new mini tummy of mine!
I woke up this morning and I am back on track. got in a 20 min walk and my first water bottle! I dont what came over me yesterday but I am back in a good frame of mind and ready to get this weight off The support of all of you has been truly helpful and encouraging, beyond words... Thank you <3

Thank you so much for sharing! I went out to buy protein and I was suprised by how high the calories were. 170 for 30grams and they all had some sugar at rite aid. I decided to order online instead. Are there any low calorie sugar free brands that you all might suggest?

Very true, I just got released today on soft foods and full liquids. I need to go buy protein shakes since I can start them today.

I have over 150 lbs to lose also. I saw two different PA's at my surgeons office and they both strongly pushed the bypass on me. I freaked out for the week before surgery. Obviously I wanted to have the weight come off but I really started weighing the pros and cons. Even if I lost 60% instead of 75% of my excess body weight I would not have to deal with malabsorption with the sleeve. I had my surgery thursday morning and I am so very happy I stuck with my original choice. I have healed up so quickly and pain was so minimal to what I had thought it would be. Ive lost 12 pounds in 5 days. It really boils down to if you are commited to following the nutrition plan you will get your weight off. It might be more of a "strugle" since we dont have the malabsorption but if you do it right, you can get to your goal! Follow your heart!! Best of luck to you.

I totally feel your impatience! It felt like things were going so slowly I decided to pay out of pocket for the psych and registered dietician to cut down on long wait times for approval. Im not sure what insurance you have or what the requirements are but for me personally the process took a month from first meeting with surgeons office til my surgery date which I just got approval for today scheduled for the 27th! If I hadent paid out of pocket the process would have been more like 2.5 months. Hang in there!!

Thanks Mandy, that is so good to hear! I heard the first month is rough, I know it will be a HUGE adjustment but I am so ready for my body to stop hurting and have more energy Im so thrilled!!

I can't believe how emotional I am. SO overwhelmed with so many thoughts and feeling!

I was reading your other post about gaining 4 lbs and just wanted to let you know your weight gain is almost surely caused by this time when you didnt intake protein. Your body goes into starvation mode and now that your eating mushys it is holding on to every calorie you eat! SO hopefully a little more time on the mushy stage will kick your body into weightloss mode Best of luck!

I totally feel you. I have been over weight all my life and I constantly encounter these situations. Its hurtful to me but it is so natural for people to behave this way. It sure takes a toll on the self esteem though...

SO very exciting Chimera! I am very inspired by your journey, keep up the great work and enjoy every moment of it!!
-
WOW, what an experience Its great to see they fixed you up and 3 and a 1/2 months later you are half way to goal! Im really glad it ended up working out for you
-
Muffintop, how frustrating I hope that your Dr.s office gets back to you soon and gets you started in the process. Is your other option self pay? I have a friend who took 10 years to get this surgery but by her own choice. she went through orientation, insurance approval all of it and backed out every time. She finally went through with it January of this year and she has lost 150 lbs! She says her only regret wasnt doing the surgery sooner!
-
BigGirl, I really hope that the upper GI issue is something that can easily be worked through and not affect you getting the surgery. that would be so upsetting. Let us know how it goes!
-
Tatylish, Good for you for staying on top of them!! I totally know what you mean about working hard to get to this point. Ill be sending out lots of positive thoughts for the both of us that we will get are acceptance notice soon!
