Wow It's My 6-Month Surgiversary...WOW!
Love the video! Thank you for sharing it!

Pardon my bluntness...
Maybe its because you have only been here a couple of weeks, but your post ( in my opinion) is insensitive and judgemental... People who need this surgery are not typically good at staying on diets, or are yo yo dieters who sometimes fail when it comes to always doing the right thing. I am a professional dieter, but after my surgeon had me on liquid protein skakes for FIVE weeks, even commercials for McDonalds looked like gourmet cuisine... I think some come here to vent, some come to be talked out of a temptation because this? ...Is a SUPPORT group... To say that people are "lacking in common sense" because they may need help to stay on track is just ... mean. I hope if you have a rough day and are tempted, that you get the support you need and are not belittled.

~4 months post-op with pictures :)
You look great! Do you mind my asking - how many calories do you average a day? I am two months out in a stall... I walk daily on the treadmill and average 650 calories per day... Do you limit carbs and max protein or eat anything in smaller portions? I need to do whatever you are doing! Thanks!

Help..has anyone else
Eggs are probably the only thing I can consistently not get sick with!

11 Weeks...Calories?
My doc only gives protein goals and carb maxes... No calorie help at all... I could use some guidance because I feel stalled and dont know if I am eating enough... I am almost 10 weeks out and average 650 calories per day...

Surgery done 12/12/12
After weeks and weeks of sweet protein shakes, Isopure zero carb Alpine punch is the only protein I can stomach... It looks and tastes a bit like gatorade to me - of which I am not a fan, but its tolerable over ice with a lime wedge.

8 weeks out and feeling doubt...
You guys are so helpful...thank you... My doc has the bedside manner of Dr. Gregory House... I dont like him at all, but he is the guy my insurance covers... I weigh every Monday and saw a loss today and feel better... This is HARD... Anyone who thinks this is an easy solution has no idea of how hard the behavior modification is... I throw up if I eat one bite too much...and right now, dont always recognize the full cue.

8 weeks out and feeling doubt...
... And a little regret. I was sleeved on 10/22... I am down 38lbs... I do 30-45 min on the treadmill daily... I saw my doctor on Tuesday and he chastised me for losing too slowly... He had me on fish and eggs until Tuesday, but I jumped ahead to chicken because I was sick of fish and eggs... I have been eating high Protein, very little carbs averaging about 625 calories per day... My weight loss *has* slowed although my clothes fit better.. Now I am worried that I won't continue to lose and all this pain, frustration and throwing up will have been for an " only" loss of 40ish lbs... If this is it for weight loss, then I regret the surgery... It would be worth losing up to goal - 100lbs but not for 38-40lbs (depending on the scale). I could just be down because I tried to eat my dinner very slowly and carefully and still threw up. I miss food.

body oder
Are you pre or post op? Is the odor something new or just something you need help with?
-
What is your definition of feeling full?
I was sleeved on 10/22... I still don't have a good understanding of FULL...but know exactly the feeling of OVER full... With me, it's a feeling as though something is stuck in my chest, not my throat... and the difference between full and this horrible feeling can be as little as one more bite. My NUT jokingly says, "Eat until you are full, but stop two bites before..." That is exactly what I have to do... I am getting better at eyeballing the amount I should eat... and I stop before I feel "full" because I don't exactly have this feeling. But I know if I eat ONE BITE past this ... non feeling, then I was have the uncomfortable pain feeling in the chest that is only alleviated by throwing up. I also get this feeling if I eat too fast or don't chew well enough. Such is the life of a sleever.

What has changed to speed up my weight loss?
how long ago were you sleeved?
-
Non Scale victory for a Tuesday!
So... I was sleeved on 10/22... and sometimes feel discouraged because I am "only" down 36.5lbs... BUT. Today? I went into a back closet at home and am wearing an outfit that I have not worn in ... oh, heck, I have no idea - a LONG time. And? When I saw my primary care physician two weeks ago, my blood pressure was low enough that she took me off of my blood pressure meds... and told me to check in in two weeks to see how I was doing. I stopped in the office today and my BP was 120/79. NO MORE HBP! So, although the weight is not "dropping" off as fast as I had imagined, I am off of two medications, wearing smaller clothes, and have been working out DAILY on the treadmill. Life is good.

Best Protein Products
Some of the bars are very carby... If you have carb restrictions (i am only allowec 30 gr of carbs daily) you can use up your daily carb allowance on bars...

Finally - protein I can tolerate!
I am six weeks post op... I have tried: Bariatric Advantage Premier Protein GNC powder and ready to drink unjury Oh Yeah Chike Syntrax Muscle Milk Max Protein Rockin' Refuel BSN Syntha Syntrax Matrix Protizyme Nashua Nutrition Click BSN Lean ... and probably a few I cannot remember. And? I hate them ALL. They are all too sweet! I am almost LIKING Isopure zero carb alpine punch... It kind of tastes like (to me) cranberry juice mixed with a dry white wine... Served ice cold, it had a gag-free refreshing tartness. If you are also having a hard time stomaching uber sweet shakes, you might like this. BTW, it's kinda pricey in my opinion...

Isopure Plus Zero Carb Protein Drink
Your posting of this could not be timelier (is that a word?) anyway, on my to-do list today was to go and buy some of the isopure zero carb to try... I am six weeks out and having a hard time getting my Protein in and I am ABSOLUTELY SICK of my Protein shakes...they are so sweet and after 5 weeks straight (2 weeks pre op and 3 weeks post op) just the smell of them makes me gag. I am going to try a couple of flavors and see if I can tolerate them. Thanks!

New Favorite "take Out" Meal
Six weeks!

New Favorite "take Out" Meal
I went to Chipotle and got a naked burrito bowl - chicken, cheese and mild salsa... I got 4 meals out of it. I am looking forward to being able to add onions, peppers and other stuff, but for now its a very satisfying change from fish. I am trying to go high Protein and low carbs, so no Beans... Anyway, it was delicious!

The Stall Almost Got The Best Of Me!
Wow, you are encouring to me... I am also six weeks out, but only allowed eggs and fish and am truly getting tired of them. It is hard to get my Protein in without a daily shake - and I am REALLY tired of the uber sweet Protein shakes. I suffered a stall of my own - I weigh on Mondays and this last weigh in, I was 2lbs UP... I think I was eating too many carbs, although my total caloric intake was about 630 per day. I wonder if I am not eating enough?

Anyone Have A Problem With Cucumbers?
"I would listen to what your doctor says instead of asking relative stangers on the Internet for advice on your medical care" I hear what you are saying, but I like to ask others because my doctor (the only one covered by my insurance) is not at ALL approachable and answers very few questions, and those he does with attitude. He prides himself in being "tough" and has a, "because I said so..." approach. I am not four, and am much more compliant when I understand the reasons behind the directions.... I have found this board invaluable for getting insight to how OTHER doctors relate to their patients. My doctor has the bedside manner of Dr. Gregory House. He may be a good surgeon, but he is not a kind man.

Post Op: What Do You Track (If Anything) When You Eat?
Thanks. I do track, and hit the treadmill regularly... but I do think maybe I got too carb heavy. *sigh* I will pay more attention to the carbs this week and see if the scale moves.

Anyone Have A Problem With Cucumbers?
Dang. But thanks... I needed to know if there was a reason. I guess I will wait. :-(

Anyone Have A Problem With Cucumbers?
I am six weeks post op... I am looking for a low carb snack AND I have been craving cucumbers... Is there any reason I should not eat them? My doc is super strict - he only allows fish and eggs and I am SICK of fish and eggs...
