  1. Hi fellow Marylanders... I live in Rockville and work in Silver Spring.
  2. I have been approved for sleeve surgery by my insurance plan, and met with my surgeon in May. Now comes the long, long wait. My insurance plan has only one surgeon on staff in my area that does this surgery, so there is a bottle neck and a long wait list...It has been 4 months...I have been told the wait COULD be 7 months! I feel like I am getting discouraged and bounce between, "now is the time to start making good habits" to "I will NEVER get surgery, it's hopeless..." to "well, I'd better eat all the {fill in the blank} I can, because after surgery I won't be able to..." Last night I actually dreamt I had the surgery...except in my dream, it was an outpatient procedure...and they released me into the street still wearing a surgical gown with open wounds. I had to go to urgent care because they forgot to give me any pain meds. I was sitting there in the waiting room, trying not to bleed on the nice sofas. I feel like my life is on hold - I don't want to make any plans for the fall because I keep thinking I will get a surgery date...but as every day goes by with no phone call, I get more and more depressed. Any suggestions to pull myself out of this rut? Any suggestions or a virtual kick-in-the-butt are appreciated!
  3. BEAUTIFUL ring. I am so happy for you. I am still PRE op, but I am hoping to have NSVs of my own to share one day! Congratulations!
  4. I am still PRE op, so I cannot speak from experience, but I thought you were SUPPOSED to feel hunger, no? At least eventually? I thought that the sleeve would make you get full faster and require less food to get full, but that you would still get hungry when it was time to eat. No?
  5. Thanks so much for posting...I wish you success on your journey... I have been approved for sleeve surgery, but am STILL on the waiting list...I get so discouraged, but when I come to this forum and read success stories like yours, I feel like WHEN it finally happens, it will be so worth it. I am anxious to join you on this journey! save me a seat!!
  6. Congratulations on getting your surgery date! You will do fine! I am anxious to hear back from you post surgery! (I am still awaiting my date)... good luck and be well!
  7. Glad you are doing well! It sounds like it was scary, but I can't wait for my date as I am still unscheduled... Good luck and continued recovery!
  8. I get that feeling... I am approved for surgery, but still on the waiting list... I thought when I began this process, that by now - July - I would have already had the surgery and there would be far 'less of me'... With summer being unbearably hot... nothing fits, and I refuse to buy more 'fat clothes'... I am trying hard NOT to give into depression and EAT. Ya know? (
  9. Hi all... I am a pre-op... I am approved and awaiting my surgery date. At first when I heard that I would be required to have only Protein Shakes for two weeks prior to surgery and three weeks afterwards - my only concern was it would be tough for the two weeks as I am sure I would be hungry and being around my family eating normal food. But I just attended a Protein Tasting hosted by another support group... it helps you to decide which protein powder/shake/meal substitute you would prefer to use. Well - I hated ALL of them! Really! I thought that it would taste like Carnation Instant Breakfast - or perhaps SlimFast - which is doable... but all of them tasted completely vile to me! How can I get through this!!???
