Hiatal Hernia?
I did not know i had a hiatal hernia as well. My surgeon did not require an upper gi pre-op. My endoscopy was done before i had surgery and that is what they discovered it. They repaired it and then continued on to my sleeve surgery. I never had any kind of symptoms and from what my surgeon said it was one of the biggest my sugeon has repaired.

Confused and Panicking
My surgeon and NUT told me that at 2 months out i dont have to have a protien shake every day but at least for the next year i should try to have at least 4 a week. Your target protien should be between 60-80 grams calories between 600-800. If your working out then calories should be around 1000. You should check your insurance to see if you they will pay for NUT visits. i probably wouldnt mention you had surgery in Mexico. I am 7 weeks post op and during weeks 5-6 i was stalled out so i upped my calories and protien and after the second day of eating more i lost 4 lbs. i average between 70-80 grams of protien and about 700-800 calories a day.

Protein smoothie!?
I add Fruit to my protien all the time to mix it up a bit! Eggface's blog has a bunch of really good recipes! I have had no problems with any of the fruits i have used like Strawberries, Bananas, Blueberries, mango. The only fruit i didnt enjoy was frozen raspberry. Those little seed things are pretty annoying. i didnt get sick or feel bad i just didnt like the seeds in my mouth and stuck in my teeth

Day of surgery i was 203, i am currently 179. my goal is to be 115-125 depending on what i look like when i reach those numbers. I too was hoping to reach goal this summer and thought i would lose it faster but i am not complaining 1 bit.

My ins wants to verify my weight for the last 2 yrs..anyone else had this ?
i had to show 5 years weight history and diet history. After submitting it all i was denied. But i appealed because in one of the years, dont remember which one, they had my height wrong which made my bmi lower then 35. I sent them a snarky letter asking them if its even possible for a grown 30' something year old adult to grow 3 inches in a year and then shrink 3 inches the next year. I was approved. Took about 3 weeks for the approval but i was approved on 12/24/12 and had surgery 1/9/13. Dont give up and send it in. This is Aetna's way of hoping you give up!

Desperate for protien
The only way i can drink my protien shakes is if they are ice old. I found this shaker that i really love. As soon as i am done drinking my protien i wash it and put it back in the freezer. Its by cool gear here is the link http://www.coolgearinc.com/stay_fit_835.html

I had chicken and broccoli a few days ago without the fried rice and i have to tell you it wasn't my favorite meal post op. I didn't get sick but it made my tummy feel heavy and that heaviness lasted for like 2 days. Don't think iw ill have chinese until i am further out.

I did the same thing at 2 days post op! you learn really quick what your limits are! Maybe too soon for pb2 makes it too thick. I started using the pb2 at 2 weeks out

Eating and drinking together
I agree with everything that everyone has posted. I am one that pre surgery always had to sip through dinner. I have never been a gulper. Post surgery I don't even have to think about it. Even my kids when setting the table dont bother putting a glass out for me. You wont miss it.
