Hi! I will be 4 years post op in January. First thing I will tell you is that this has been the best decision I have made in my life. Has it been easy? No, not one bit! At almost 4 years post op I am struggling to lose 10 lbs I have regained. Obviously the surgery was on our stomach and not on our brain. Unfortunately for me I am an emotional eater and the past year has been filled with many ups and downs that have pushed me to make horrible food choices and to drown my sorrows in cheetos and ice cream! I have not posted in years but decided I needed to log back on to get back on track. Hope my answer helps you Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I think I maybe having regrets

The only times I threw up was because I ate/ drank something too fast or had too much of it. Once you get a handle on it it'll be smooth sailing!
  11. Yes. I hear it every day. I am 7 lbs away from my surgeons goal and 13 lbs away from my personal goal and my friends think i am crazy. I don't care what they say. If I lose the 13 lbs and think I am too skinny then I will gain a couple of cpounds until I am comfortable with myself.

    Sleeve vs band restriction?

It is pretty painful when you are full. I had my sleeve surgery 1/9/13 and even now sometimes i get that full feeling. I quickly learned how to avoid it because it isn't like it comes on after eating one spoonfull too many. It is gradual and I learned pretty early on when to stop eating/ drinking. does that make sense?

    Old Habits Coming Back!

I am about 17 months out and I just started logging what I eat again. I quickly noticed that I was eating way too many carbs and not enough protein and calories. I am basically going back to eating high protein and low carb. And trying to reach 1200 calories. (I have been averaging about 700 calories a day)

  17. Wow count your lucky stars that she decided to not be your friend, because with friends like that who needs enemies! I lost a couple of friends too when I decided to have surgery. I am 17 months post op and happier then ever! She is just jealous that you have the strength to change your life for the better and probably scared that you will get all the attention!

    1 Year Surgeversary

On January 9th of this year marked my 1 year anniversary of having the Sleeve surgery! I am so happy with my results and truly love my sleeve. I started this journey at 228lbs. I had to do the 6 month supervised diet so 10 months later, the day of surgery i was 203lbs. On January 9, 2014 i weighed in at 135lbs. I have learned to use my tool and know what my limits are and what my slider foods are. I am very aware of what goes in my mouth as opposed to before i had surgery where i ate or drank whatever i wanted. It has to be worth something good for me to eat it. Things i would have done differently: Definitely Exercise more! I didn't start going to the gym until 5 months post op. Pure laziness in my part. So if i can give a newbie any advice at all is to definitely exercise and take advantage of the first 6 months post op because that is when you will see the weight fly off your body. After 6 months i noticed that my weight loss slowed down alot. I still lost weight but it was minimal. Here is a before picture and a picture that was taken at 10 months post op.

    1 Year Surgeversary

Start out small! Go for a walk. As you start to consume more food you will have more energy and then you just keep adding to that. Dont expect to run a marathon over night. But do something! That was my biggest mistake. My Vitamin & Iron deficiencies early on were a big problem for me because i did not have the energy to do anything but once that all got straightened out I started to walk on the treadmill and little by little added to it. Exercising doesn't have to be done at the gym. Find something that you like and then stick to it Good luck to you!
