My ins wants to verify my weight for the last 2 yrs..anyone else had this ?

Oh yeah! My insurance Aetna requires weight and blood pressure readings for the prior three years. Since I did that in 2012, I had to provide 2010, 2011 & 2012. But that really wasn't a problem for me getting those. Even though I had a different doctor back in 2010 & 2011, I just went to that doctors office and asked for a copy of my medical records with my weight and b/p recording on it .

Or even if you had any kind of E/R visit during those two years, you can use that copy also. Long as it has your weight recorded on it for that year. Good luck to ya!

Oh yeah - Try 5 year documentation for my insurance to approve my weight loss surgery. Pain in the butt to track down since I dont got to doctors alot. I had to get creative to fill in the gaps. Dang Insurance companies - Who cares how fat I was 5 years ago - I AM OBESE NOW! grrrr P.S. not anymore - thank you sleeve!

Yes, my insurance requested 5 yrs of showing that my BMI was over 40. So I had to go to my OBGYN and get my weigh ins for my annual for 5 yrs and also went to my Regular Dr. and got weigh ins for my annual check ups as well as just some appointments I had and took the ones that the BMI were 40 and above and presented those.

It's a process...it's insane I agree! Just hang in there.

That's awful. I am sorry you have to do this. Insurance companies are like big ol bullies! That's why I went to Mexico!

i had to show 5 years weight history and diet history. After submitting it all i was denied. But i appealed because in one of the years, dont remember which one, they had my height wrong which made my bmi lower then 35. I sent them a snarky letter asking them if its even possible for a grown 30' something year old adult to grow 3 inches in a year and then shrink 3 inches the next year. I was approved. Took about 3 weeks for the approval but i was approved on 12/24/12 and had surgery 1/9/13.

Dont give up and send it in. This is Aetna's way of hoping you give up!

I had submit the past five years. It was no problem for me because I had gone to the gyno but the nurse I was talking to said I could have submitted pictures of myself over the years to prove that I was over weight if I didnt have doctors records. Maybe that is something you can try if you need to find a way to prove to them. I got approved for my surgery. So it's just a hoop for you to jump through!

I also had to submit 5 years of documented weight loss. Just a cover page from a Dr. visit will do. I think it's pretty standard.

My GP submitted 15 months. My GP before him closed her practice, and he couldn't get my records. Insurance was fine with that.
