  1. I agree! My hubby was helping me change my gown not realizing my full drain was tucked in my chest pocket. He threw the old gown on the floor and my drain went with it. It was sutured in but OUCH!!!!
  2. Leave in 2 hours for hospital and getting nervous!! Will try to update when able.
  3. We leave in 2 days for Dallas!! Preops Monday and Surgery Tuesday! Combo of excited, nervous, guilty (my 7 yr old is not liking that I'll be having surgery and gone for 5 days) and ready to get this done!! Feel like I'm in that nesting mode before I had each kid! Nerves I guess! Christy
  4. We don't have paper panties. We do have mesh ones like in OB that can be pulled down easily. In that case, I'd tell u to keep them on but once you were asleep we'd have to pull them down a few inches. Easier if they are off but exceptions for your period if they are cotton...
  5. Sarah, Promise is has nothing to do with Dr. being a male. I work in surgery and we have to scrub from nipple line to pubic area to get the area ready to be draped in a sterile field.Hair and underwear contaminate the area. So that's why it comes off. It's to protect you.
  6. Thanks! I'm standing firm with my decision. Been only telling close family, Coworkers and 2 friends who have had the surgery for that reason. Neither one of them have weight issues either.
  7. Amy, I'm coming from near Shreveport,LA. Went to seminar with surgeon here and after talking to some of my surgery Coworkers decided not to use the local Doc. I saw him a month ago and since my insurance doesn't cover I could have gotten on the surgery book in about 2 weeks. I chose 5 because of scheduling time off work and our kid's schedules. He does require a 2 week diet. There was a rep from Bariatric Advantage there and I ordered my stuff that day. Waste of money. I have already replaced it all with high Protein shakes that taste much better and Atkins bars. You are allowed a low far, low carb high protein meal once a day. I'm having mine at Forest Park. :-)
  8. My husband just came home from practice and told me how 2 friends of ours were trying to discourage me having the surgery. Telling him I should just go on a real strict diet instead. One of our mutual friends is in the hospital for second time since surgery 8 months ago because of severe fecal impaction causing obstruction. I didn't even realize they knew I was having surgery. He took up for my decision, said he wanted to have it done and I had researched it thoroughly. I know they are just concerned but still irritates me!
  9. Amy, Dr. Nicholson is doing my surgery on April 3rd! What's your date? :-) Christy
  10. Your next to last sentence hit the nail on the head for me! I need long term tools to help me keep the weight off! :-)
  11. I was certain I wanted a lap-band until I went to a seminar. The surgeon said only one out of three were satisfied with their bands. Not good odds for me. Work with a Dr. and nurse who have had it and neither have had good results as far as weight loss. Have another nurse and a friend who have had sleeve and their loss is great. MD said he'd do sleeve if he could do it over again. So after that and much online research 1 week from now we will be in Dallas getting ready for my sleeve! :-)
  12. I've heard up to 2 hours. My surgeon said it should take about 45 minutes but I think he meant actual surgery time. It takes awhile to get the patient ready, prepped, draped etc. so I'm guessing that's where the 1 1/2 to 2 hours cones from.
  13. I have a variety pack, total of 30, bars for sale. I just got them in 5 days ago and paid $2.85 each for them. Flavors are: Peanut Butter Chocolate, Chocolate, Apple Cinnamon and Mixed Berry. Will also include 2 samples packs of the Bariatric Advantage Wildberry Crystals. All unopened. $60 for all plus $10 shipping. Can ship this week but leaving for surgery in 7 days (!!) so will need to ship before then. If interested let me know Christy
  14. Day 5 is better, just went thru Sonic drive thru for bag of ice, didn't order anything and ok Day 5 is better, just went thru Sonic drive thru for bag of ice, didn't order anything and ok
  15. Day 4 preop diet and I realize I am so grouchy. Everything gets on my nerves. Is this temporary or am I the only one who feels like they are super edgy? I so want this surgery but I don't want to feel like I'm turning into a grouchy B because of it! :-(
  16. We'd remember that because we'd be freaking that it wasn't out already!! Lol
  17. As a nurse who has cathed many people and seen hundreds of naked bodies, if not thousands for surgery (lol) I promise you they all blend in and look the same after awhile!! The only things that stand out in my mind to remember is when people (a nurse actually!) have pitched a 2 year old fit over having to remove their (silky nylon burn risk) panties. If you just simply remove them and go about your business I promise you we don't remember specifics! Unless of course you have a penis growing out of your vagina!! LOL
  18. Yes, it makes perfect sense! Been going under my calories by 300 a day because I just can't stomach them all!! We will make it!! :-)
  19. Oh no Seannie! LOL. I hope that doesn't happen to me! I'd be worried in my medicated state after surgery I'd forget it was there for a day or so!
  20. I work in Surgery. For any surgery involving the belly we have the patient remove their underwear because we prep the skin with a surgical scrub and they would contaminate the area/get in our way. For other surgeries you can keep cotton panties on, others are a fire risk. Hope this helps.
  21. Do you have anyone who can be with you? As a Recovery Room nurse I know the staff will take care of you but it's so much better to have someone who can speak up for you and you will have to have someone drive you home. Good luck!
