  1. Honestly, don't worry about what you look like. I had that problem in the beginning and it really hindered my weight loss. Just think, everyone at the Y will be thinking the same thing about themselves. Nobody will even look at you because their too busy thinking about themselves. So get in there, and hop on a treadmill, or elliptical, or bike, and start moving. And only go for 10 minutes. Next week, you can go for 11 minutes. And the next 12 minutes. Take it slow, you'll see that each week your not only going to get better and be able to go longer, but your gonna look better too!
  2. Stefanie, basically we just post what we've done in regards to exercise. Any and all exercise. And we create a new thread for each new month. Usually I'll post in the morning what I've done the night before, and sometimes things that I know are coming up, like appointments with personal trainers, classes, challenges, etc. There are a few of us doing the couch to 5k program, and there is a seperate thread for that, but we do post here that we've done each workout because it is part of our exercise program. We also support each other when we fall off the wagon, like the time I ate a lot of mini milky ways..... You are more than welcome to join us!:clap2:
  3. yeah, exactly. Their ok on their own, but better when you pile stuff on top of them. And they come in all sorts of flavors.
  4. Yeah, I'm trying to lay off the red meat. We used to eat it anywhere from 3-6 nights a week. Now we eat it maybe once a week. I use ground turkey in everything, and I just put some steak seasoning on it and nobody can tell the difference.
  5. Awesome Di, keep it up!:whoo:
  6. Whos, you can't possibly be wanting to do the c25k, and if you are wanting, stop. I can't keep up, I'm almost dreading tomorrow. My joints are so sore!
  7. Losing, maybe I'll invest in a heart rate monitor, it would probably come in handy for spin class also. And you should be able to calculate calories burned using a heart rate monitor, no?
  8. Losing, that's 471 calories for 30 minutes. That's awesome...now I think the machines are totally lying to me. It said that I had burned 220 calories for a half an hour, but I sweat crazier than I do on the elliptical when I burn over 400 calories. I wish they had a bodybugg compatible with a mac.....
  9. Just thought I'd post my dinner tonight. I warmed up a boca burger, and chopped it up and threw over some romaine lettuce with some onions. Then I made a dressing of low fat mayo, mustard, ketchup, and relish (about 1tb each) and tossed it all together. Sort of tasted like a big mac, without the cheese and bread, and it was actually very filling...:hungry:
  10. That sounds like halloween candy....I bet it was really good!
  11. Already sore from personal trainer, she's kind of a beast! She's got me scared!
  12. The music is different, but I really enjoy it. And the two minutes does fly by losing.
  13. Ok so I know people were posting 6 month pics, and I never took one, and I still can't find a pre-op pic, but I took one last week with my bf. It'll have to suffice for now. I'm going to have to go rooting around in my closets for the older pics....I'll keep you all updated.
  14. Hope you feel better, don't push yourself too soon.
  15. Hey Tina, I'd show the doc the actual program, let him take a look at it, and tell you whether you will be able to do it.
  16. Ok, see, that was totally not me! I was soooo not ready to go again. I was ready to fall to the ground and take a nap! I think I'm going to have to take 2 days in between "runs". And whos, I can already see your are gonna be on my a$$ for this entire program, huh? Now the question is when we finish it and are able to run 5k, what next?!? Half marathon? I'm already exhausted!!!!!
  17. I'm not rocking that much, I'm just doing what Whos is telling me to do! I was so nervous jumping on that treadmill this morning, but to be honest, the walking is 2 minutes long, and that really helps with the increase in the running. And by the way Whos, I think I'll be repeating week 2, unless you tell me otherwise!!!!!!
  18. Week 2 workout 1 of couch to 5k. Personal trainer tonight, 1hour upper body.
  19. Whos and Losing, thanks so much. I felt better after I posted. I probably shouldn't have even posted it on this thread, but oh well. This morning I did week 2 workout 1. It was ok, except my ipod conked out half way through, making it difficult to keep focused, but I pushed through anyways. Let me just say, it was tough!
  20. Whos, I'm so happy to have you here. Just when I was feeling really crappy, I came up on here and saw what you posted, it made me feel so much better! My reasoning for doing week 1 again was because the first two workouts I couldn't do all the runs, I had to skip 2 in the middle because I was so out of breath. I'm waking up early tomorrow to get to the gym to do my "run" because I see my trainer right after work and I know that after that I'll be super poopedafter a session with her. I'm going to decide then exactly what I'll do. I'll try week 2:phanvan, but if I totally suck at it, I'm reverting back to week 1 for the rest of the week. If I think I can do it, I'll do it (I'm super competitive), but I'm really down on myself right now. I just had a lot of mini milky ways. And I wanna barf in a bad way. And its all because of what happened at the gym today. I took my spin class today like normal and I decided to do some crunches (100, woohoo!). Anyways, I've been talking to my trainer about a girly problem. She's been making me do the real "manly" pushups, but one boob is shrinking, while the other is staying the same. I don't care whether they both shrink, or both stay the same, but they need to sync together if you know what I mean. Anyways, I decided to do some pushups and then I remembered what my trainer told me to do a while ago. I'll get on the chest press machine, and do 25 reps of both arms, 50 reps with one arm, and 25 reps with the other arm. Sort of build one side up a little more......So I start, and the instructor from spin class comes along and tells me I'm doing it wrong. Arg!:angry She tells me that I'm going too fast and I need to totally slow it down and put the machine on a higher weight (I had it at 20lbs. I know its not a lot, but the trainer wants me at low weights, with a lot of reps, I was going to do 100 reps total). Now correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that higher weights + lower reps = muscle building?!? The trainer told me lighter weights + lots of reps = muscle burnout....which is what she wants me to do. Tone the muscle, burn the fat. Now I know it may seem silly to get mad over some dumbass spin instructor trying to correct what my trainer is telling me to do, but WHAT THE HELL?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!? Arg, I was so aggrevated. I came home and was so flustered I ended up making a cvs run and stocking up on mini milky ways...and now I feel the way I do. Oh yeah, by the way, this spin instructor was talking to me during one of my first classes and I ended up telling her about my band and get this, she tells me that I was wrong for choosing surgery, and that she doesn't believe in surgical methods to improve lifestyles, it should just come naturally, especially when you are altering your body. Which is fine, I don't have a problem with people having their own opinions. You can think what you want. But then she turned around and had a huge ass tatoo on her back! I'm not against tattoos, but don't you think that's altering your body???:angry Ok, sorry for such a long rant. I do feel a lot better now though! I'll be back tomorrow to let you know how I did...
  21. :whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo: That is so AWESOME dibaby! Last night, 1 hour with trainer, legs and abs This morning workout 3 week 1 of couch to 5k Hopefully I'll be able to do spin tomorrow:confused:
  22. so I did workout 3 of week 1 this morning, and it went great. I completed all of the runs, where previously I had to skip 2 of the runs in the middle just to catch my breath. I am still going to stay with week 1 next week, then maybe proceed to week 2 the following week. Like losing, I tried to see how long I could actually go for the last one and I came in at 1min 8sec. I do have to say that this is really helping out in all the other things I do for exercise. I've noticed a big difference in my spin class, it takes me a lot longer to work up a sweat on the elliptical machine, and I had an hour with my trainer last night after not seeing her for almost 3 weeks and she asked me what I had been doing. I not only looked leaner, but she noticed that my legs were much stronger. :whoo:
  23. whos, I think I'm sticking with week 1 again. And my back (love handles) are killing me this morning! Had that happened to anyone else???
  24. mcgreen, I weigh a lot more than you and I'm doing it. Yea, my lungs burn like hell, but its gotten better. Just keep at it!
