Missmarbe got a reaction from CBT in 200 Pounds To Lose Is Doable
I know I can do it but right now I feel like I'm failing. Mostly because I don't have a scale and don't track what I eat daily. I have had a lot going on and have not planned well. Hopefully I will get back on track and lose more weight by my birthday. The more I get on VST, the better I feel and the more I lose. I guess I need to make more time for my great support system!!!

I was just thinking if I get a scale and see the weight going down, that would be ny motivation. I get what you are saying though. When it doesn't move, I'll be disappointed and throw it out the window !!! Lol

Some of you know that I have a DVT (blood clot) and two pulmonary embolisms before surgery because of pneumonia. You might remember that I've been on coumadin since last June because of those clots. I had an appt with my pulmonary doctor yesterday and he told me that I could refuse to continue taking the coumadin. He couldn't NOT prescribe it because my test results still say I'm high on clot factor, but with my weight loss and activity level, he wouldn't argue with me if I refused the medicine, so I refused it.
As a precautionary measure, he ordered an ultrasound of my legs, the site of the blood clot before. I had that ultrasound today and my legs are not only clot free, the tech couldn't even tell where the clot had been!!
She also complimented me on the amount of muscle in my thighs, although that muscle made it harder for her to do the ultrasound.
I'm a happy and HEALTHY girl today!! I think I can predict that I will outlive the death sentence the doctors handed me last year! THAT is worth a happy dance all on it's own!!!

It's been an awesome past two months. Major life changes that never would have happened 50 pounds ago. I had my surgery last August, and the weight loss has been SLOW. But I'm hanging in there and the rewards have started rolling in.
I decided to try online dating in March, after I was able to get some pictures of myself that I felt ok with. Two weeks later, I met an awesome guy and we're so happy together.
Right about the same time, some networking paid off and I landed a job interview. The company was pretty slow with the interview process, but last week I was offered the job! The company is really dynamic and high-energy, and I know I wouldn't have been an ideal candidate if I had been at the weight and energy level that I was before the surgery. I'm not saying they wouldn't have hired me, but I KNOW that the weight loss has helped, if nothing else its helped my self esteem and the way I project myself.
So, while the scale is slow, and I'll probably never be one of those people who gets to a size 4, it has given me a new outlook on life, and it looks like 35 is finally MY YEAR!!

Congrats to all that stay on the grind. Three weeks post-op, I hit my first milestone. I was 397. For the 1st time in over 10 years, I was under 400 #'s. I have to keep pushing. I have step up some nice rewards for myself at different milestones.

I just got the mail & I seen a letter from the external appeals place & was instantly sick to my stomach. I was convinced this was my final denial for the sleeve. So I went ahead & opened it & it has been APPROVED!!!!!! OMG! I am beyond excited right now!! If anyone is going through this or wondering if it is even worth it, the answer is Yes! Fight for it! I'm so glad I did!! I was denied by Highmark because my bmi is not 50. But with much perserverance, research, proof, & appeal writing I GOT APPROVED!! WooHoo! Can you tell I'm excited?!?

Sunday I became the Mrs. to my best friend! The day was everything I could ever want thanks to my VSG surgery 8 months ago. I was able to hold my head up high, have energy for the days events, and actually feel like a pretty bride instead of an embarrassed-about-my-weight bride. My new husband deserves the best me I can give him and I feel like this surgery is allowing me to offer that. Thank you to all the people on this forum who have shared their experiences, offered support, and cheered for me along the way. Oh Happy Day!!!

Yesterday hit my 4-month mark since my sleeve surgery. And, I hit the 199 mark after 2-weeks of holding at 201. YAY! I've been waiting on this day for a long time. It's funny when you finally see the scale say 199. I just kept saying....really, am I really there? The last time I remember being under 200 I was in 10th grade or I was about 16 which means for 32-years I have been over 200 lbs and at times WAY over 200 lbs. Yes, this feels good.
As for my diet, I track everything. I do enjoy a treat of a piece of candy or some ice cream once in a while. But I generally stay within my targets of protien, carbs, fat, and fluids.
As for my NSV...Well, I'm in the process of changing careers. My family wants me to take over their business. I grew up in the business, but went my separate way many years ago. That path provided me with my degree and a great job. But to be honest, I've gotten very bored with my role over the last 3-years and was looking for a change. Over the last 3-months I have been studying for my state board license in HVAC contracting.
I took my test on Thursday. It was an open-book test, but the proctor said I had written to much in my books and took 2 of the major testing books away from me. I had 30-questions left out of 100 to answer. Of those 30, I was able to locate 15 of the questions from my other books. That left me with 15 remaining questions which were tables within the last two books. The proctor was adimit that I could not have my books and told me she was sorry, but I just had to go on my on knowledge. Well, I did the best I could. The test was over and I waiting on the results. It read..PASSED! I couldn't believe it. I actually passed.
This has been an exhausting and exciting week. I hit 199 and passed my HVAC licensing exam!

I have thought this several times. I have stopped myself. I decided not even to share with my own family out of there reaction so I sure would not to offend anyone one else or get a reaction I wouldn't like.
The way I found out about the Sleeve is I am a server at a restaurant and a guest shared her experience when she did not want a drink with her meal. I am not a pushy person, she just wanted to share her experience. I went home, looked into it, found this site and was hooked. 5 months later went to MX and the rest is history. That lady has know idea she changed someones life.... mine.
Maybe one day I will get my nerve up and help make a difference in someone elses life.

    Lewanda,
I went on my initial consult with a weight of 440. I went into surgery after my pre-op diet with a weight of 423 (give or take per my surgeon). I weighed 416 on my 1 week post op visit. I plan on getting down to 200 pounds. My best friend had VSG 1 year ago, and he went from 438 to 230 in a year! I hear that men losr faater and he has been very dedicated in working out and eating right. I know how you feel with the people who say " you don't look like you weight that much". I just say, " Everybody carries weight differently". And know I surely do, You will do well. Praying for your insurance approval, and safe surgery and speedy recovery!!!!!!

It's been 10 weeks since my surgery and I am doing well. I do find myself wanting to eat the wrong things but I throw the thought out the window for now. I do realize if I take one bite too many oh boy I feel it. But I am so much more energetic and I love trying on new clothes. I am loving my sleeve.. I have added photos to my Gallery for anyone who wants to see the before and after. who would have thought 60 pounds would make such a difference. I love doing zumba and kick boxing classes and I am going to try fit boot camp.... Wish me luck... But I am trying to work this sleeve and not let it work me.. Good luck to all who is on the losing side as well as the ones going for their sleeve...

    I normally have:
    Mini Babybel with meds
Breakfast is either a Protein bar or an egg and sausage
lunch is dense Protein (4 oz chicken breast, hamburger patty, a few shrimp, etc)
dinner these days is often a stir fry of beef and veggies
Water is my number one diet building block these days. I usually drink a bottle while I'm taking my meds, then one when I leave the house to go to work, another bottle at work, one on the way home and at least one more bottle of Water after dinner. I use a lot of mio drops in my water as well.
If you're interested, a lot of folks here use My Fitness Pal to log our meals and workouts. I'm Lissa912 on there and would be happy to add you as a friend. MFP allows you to either show or hide your daily meals. I keep mine visible to others because it helps me maintain accountability. It's a great place to get ideas about what to eat.

I can eat just about anything. For me the weight gain was quantity, but I do eat healthier now too. I've cut out refined sugar for the most part, refined flour and overly processed foods. I eat small amounts of potatoes, whole wheat Pasta and quinoa for starches. I also eat a ton of lean meat, cheese dairy products, fish, nuts, fruit and vegetables in portions that thin people do.
For Easter I had a float made from diet Orange Crush and skim vanilla ice cream. I also eat dark chocolate (a tiny piece every day).
I'm with Cobragc. Eat smart, but live a little. The people who have been most successful a WLS seem to be those who can find ways to have a treat once in a while while not sabotaging their weight loss.

I totally agree with you! I work out with a bunch of crazy people and a lot of them are doing that Paleo stuff where you can't have any grains or dairy - and of course, no sugar or processed foods at all. Not a week goes by where a Facebook post of theirs about how "incredibly delicious" their meal of a hunk of pork, lettuce leaf and 5 raisins was is NOT followed by another post about how they "ugh ate an entire carton of ice cream, feeling awful about myself." Then they all ask how come I'm so much leaner than them when I post pictures of chocolate cake I ate. I just say that I only eat 1/4 of a slice - which is true! That "all or nothing" trap is the worst one to fall into, honestly. And trust me, I've been there!
