  1. stop yer whinin'... "only lost 2 lbs last week" sheesh
  2. how is your energy? General malaise? Weakness? A few years ago my husband experienced this kind of shoulder blade and back pain and generally feeling lousy - turned out a major artery was 98% blocked and he had to have a stent installed.
  3. Sorry you had so much pain and awfulness :-( I too threw up the 1st 2 days, couldn't even keep water down, but I didn't tear anything. I was very fortunate. I'm glad you were smart enough to go back to the hospital too. Sometimes us strong & self reliant women know too much for our own good
  4. I'm almost 3 months post-op and I ate a small yummy tossed salad yesterday. I REALLY enjoyed it and didn't have any discomfort. All I can suggest is that you try it, just do it slowly and wait a long time between bites just in case you have problems.
  5. all I can think is thank God for this forum. CrazyCatLady because of your horrible experience (that, bless your heart, you're still going through) you may actually have given her information that may save her life. I pray you both heal completely and quickly.
  6. see ? This is all working out just like it's supposed to. woo hoo !
  7. yep - I was a horrible witch and all I could do was rage at everyone and everything ! And 2.5 months post-op I still have my moments, but I'm controlling it much better (or so I think). I think it must be hormones plus this is a major change on many different planes: can't handle stress with food anymore, our bodies hurt and thinks we're starving it.
  8. same thing happened to me, and continues to happen every few weeks :-( It HAS to be hormone related. If I have to metabolize all the hormones that my fat has been storing for the past 40 years.... oh my. It's going to be a rough couple of years, let me tell you !
  9. yep. I wasn't able to eat any kind of egg until about 40 days post-op. I guess they are harder to digest than we think.
  10. count down from 100 by 7's ? Good gravy, I wouldn't be able to do that ! 100, 93, ummm..... but I guess I wouldn't get angry about it, I'd just feel stupid.
  11. I also could not stomach (haha) the protein shakes because they are cloyingly sweet :-( I satisfied my need for crisp & light by sipping ice water (although it made my sleeve dance around for the 1st couple of weeks - weird sensation). I ended up starting mushy proteins 2 weeks post-op because I just couldn't choke down another shake. Congrats on finding something you can tolerate!
  12. I pray you have an uneventful surgery and a quick recovery!

I'm the same way. I think it's a combination of not wanting to be "beholding" to someone, pride, and fear that they'll say no. In fact, in my experience, the few times that I have asked others for help 90% of the time the answer was no (oh, a very polite and with-oh-so-many excuses but still no). I don't think I'm going to change my modus operandi and so I can't advise you too either :-) Spring for a cab.

Hey ! Glad to see you're up and about and doing well. It does take a week or so to get used to the new stomach and then every new stage of food progression brings its own set of revelations. I'm 2.5 months post-op and I'm enjoying any and all foods, just in small amounts (which is exactly what I hoped the sleeve would do for me).
  15. all I can offer is "this too shall pass". Hang in there sister, it does get better!
  16. just pack them away in a box labeled "1X clothes" or whatever and forget about them. When you run into them again during a move or spring cleaning a year from now I bet you'll be able to get rid of them
  17. Thanks for the encouraging word :-) I have never been a size 10. I don't know how I got past it (I mean, I was only 6 lbs when I was born :-) but I did. I'm hoping for a size 16. Hoping. Expecting. Attaining :-)
  18. I had a low grade fever the first day home (I was in the hospital 2 nights) and felt like I had the flu. ugh. Sip your water, be very gentle with yourself (you've just had major surgery!), and follow your nutritionist's guidelines. I was an emotional wreck for the first couple of weeks and was mostly in a rage (I am surprised I am still married It does get better, it really does.
  19. bedbugs alone are enough stress (I know, been there, done that, have the scars AND the t-shirt!) let alone dealing with a hoarder (still living with that myself). It sounds like you have decided to break up with him and move on. So.... that should be it. His problems/issues are now his alone and not yours. *hug* be good to you and don't let him shower at your place anymore - he's using your kindness. Gosh, I sound so cold and uncaring. But you're not doing him any favors if you truly are breaking up with him by allowing him to depend on you. Now, if you actually AREN't ending the relationship then this is your chance to set the ground rules for how he has to behave in your residence. Good luck ! bedbugs are little vampires from the pit of hell, for sure
  20. 2.5 months post-op typical day: Breakfast - 3 oz carbmaster yogurt,1 hard boiled egg, coffee lunch - 2 oz meat, 1 hard boiled egg, small can of V8 afternoon snack - 5 Ritz crackers, 1 oz cheddar cheese dinner - 3 oz meat, 1/4 cup veggies (if that) dessert - 1/2 cup low fat frozen yogurt Compared to what other people are eating, it looks like a lot. Compared to what I was eating pre-VSG, it's next to nothing. Note: I am not losing weight very quickly but I know that my metabolism is fooched.
  21. eat the apple :-) It's good food! I too have been losing at a snail's pace and just today changed my weightloss "ticker" to show my starting weight as being my highest weight although I was 30 lbs less than that the day of my VSG. I did find that I was eating around 100 carbs a day and up to 1400 calories. Now.. how am I going to lose weight eating that much? duh! So the past couple of days I have cut the carbs to 50 and the calories to 1000. I'm hoping that will help the weightloss. I think it's called "working the sleeve". It really is just a tool.
  22. sleeved 2/13/12, 331 surgery weight, 308 current weight = 23 lbs down in 10 wks I was expecting better but slow is better than none :-)
  23. and that's all most men have to do ! So, lie to yourself : You HAVE to lose 10% of your current weight or you will NOT be approved for surgery !!! do it do it do it !!! hehehe
  24. happy birthday :-)
