I'm glad to hear my co workers say nice things about my weight loss. Bring it on! I just don't want to go to the extreme so that i look all sucked up and people begin to tell me I am losing too much weight. I have said that about other friends of mine.
That was one of the major problems with being so over weight. "You need to lose weight" "Being that heavy is not good for you"
We do care what other folks think about us. Especially the looks without a comment. You know what I mean. They look at your size and you can tell by the look on their face what they are thinking.
I thought I would never hear those comments about my weight loss. Trapped and destined to die grossly overweight.
I do want others to notice my progress.
    Be happy!

I took off work 8 weeks because for the first 6 weeks I did not feel like lifting heavy boxes, loading and unloading trucks. I did not feel like I could keep up with the fast pace. At 8 weeks I felt great and still do 13 weeks out. No problems at work at all.

I pray that your recovery and progress will be as pain and trouble free as mine has. Just be careful and stay aware of how easy it is to get constipated. That has been my only problem and it can get to where the pain is just awful.
As far as the food stages go, have patience and give your stomach plenty of time to heal. It seems like it is taking forever to get out of the liquid and puree stages but really it is only a few weeks and then you will be able to eat just about anything you want to.
If I had it to do over again, knowing what I know now, I would just relax, take it slow and do EXACTLY what the Dr. recommends.

I'm 5 months out and I'll say I contemplated the lap band and had it scheduled and switched to sleeve after talking it over with my OB, pcp, and psychiatrist.
I'm so glad I did and no regrets. I didn't look at bypass and I have a lower BMI so I think it was the best choice for me.

I am 10 months out, maintaining below goal, feel great, and no, I've never once wished I had picked any other surgery. I have 1 friend that has been banded for 5 years and another who had bypass 8 years ago. The former has never lost all of her weight and has had emergency surgery when her band slipped. The latter has hit goal and maintained her weight loss well, but has had innumerable issues over the years including dehydration, Vitamin deficiencies, vomiting, dumping, Constipation and heartburn (she takes protonix and Rolaids everyday). My choice was clear after seeing what both of them deal with.

Good heavens, no -- no regrets. (I had the sleeve.)
Did not want either of the other two major WLS options (band or bypass) and their respective baggage.

    Hello Everyone,
I was sleeved on July 30th, I'm starting to feel like my old but new self. I'm getting my Protein shakes down and all the Vitamins that I'm required to get, haven't noticed my hair falling out as of yet, and hope that doesn't happen, I have so little to begin with. I started in a 12-13 size pants and i'm now down to a size 7-8 . Shirts were xl or xxl and now down to a m-L , it has been many many years since i was this size . I love the compliments and that ppl are starting to really notice, makes it all worth while . I feel good!!!! I love this sight, it really does help especially in the beginning with the stalls, the wondering if you will ever be able to get all you need in one day sometimes it was very overwhelming so I would like to say thank each of you for sharing your stories, God Bless you all!!!!

I like to emphasize by saying "healthy weight" often when discussing my weight loss results. And that's to keep in MY head that the surgery isn't about being skinny or looking great in clothes, it's about not dying from obesity and living a full life.
I've had so many supportive comments, but I still emphasize "healthy" and not "skinny" or "thin."

mick got a reaction from Elode in Did anyone develop acid reflux after VSG?
The only way I would know if I had it is from the symptoms and the surgeon explained what causes it and what he did to remedy it.

I developed it after my heart surgery in '05. Had to do the omeprazole stuff or suffer acid reflux and it would wake me up at night if i forgot to take my pill.
When I told my surgeon about it he said he would take care of it when he sleeved me. Done deal. No more acid reflux since my sleeve.

I was really surprised to see who your surgeon was. We have the same surgeon!
I have been noting all the problems others are having that I did not have including not having to sip sip sip my liquids. Dr Naik said I was the exception.
The one thing I have noticed is that I can't hardly burp. Most of the time when I feel like burping, my liquids come up instead of the air. This happens rarely though. Last night I drank my Protein shake too fast right behind a few bites of chicken and part of it came back up when I felt like I had to burp. Silly me!

I was on a date last night. She ordered a chicken fried steak, baked potato, steamed broccoli and Texas cheese toast.
I ate about one fifth of her chicken fried steak or about two fingers almost and a couple of bites of her baked potato and a few small broccoli tops. Stuffed!
    Had a good time!

Your storysounds just like mine. I was able to drink instead of sip and I found that out accidentally. Just happened to grab a drink and take two or three big swallows befor I realized I was not supposed to do that. No pain and no discomfort so I forgot about the sipping and just started taking small swallows.
My weight loss has been very slow post op. Sometimes up a pound sometimes down one. Just looking at everyone else I figure I am about average on this.
It also seems like I am more losing size rather than weight.
